Test drove this car and I was BLOWN away at how good this sounded and how strong the base was and wonder how it compared to the Harmon kardon in the bmw
I'm paused at 5:35 into the video, so I don't know if you went back, but you tested this amazing sound system with the bass and treble in the middle sections! Huge difference with the bass two to three notches below the max to the right, and the treble one to two notches below the max to the right. I have the 14 speaker Bose in my '15 Q50 and it's by far the best overall factory sound system I've ever had in a car. It has subwoofers in both front doors and another subwoofer in the rear shelf for three total from the factory. I'm assuming the 16 speaker Bose may even be better than the 14 speaker Bose, but I'll have to try it out in person.
I just test drove a Lexus IS350F and the Mark Levinson was not as good as the Infiniti's Bose. I was unimpressed with the premium sound in the Lexus and the BMW M340xi I just drove. The Audi S4 sounded really good, and the Bose system in the Infiniti slams. I like all types of music too. I know it's subjective, so it is what it is.
@Alex I didn't actually. When I finally got the chance to see it in person I didn't want it. Previous owner didn't take care of it at all. Looked good in pictures though 🤷♂️
It’s good to get your thoughts on this system. I’m no audiophile. We had this same car - 2017 lease. It replaced a leased 2014 328 w/o the upgraded HK system, which sounded like an old school AM radio. So when we got the q50, it initially sounded amazing, esp compared to the bmw it replaced. But the road noise is so loud in both the Infiniti and bmw, you really can’t hear anything at a low/medium volume at highway speed. As I’m getting older, i tend to like listening to my music at a lower volume and be an ultra quiet / isolated car.
@@DailyMotor will you be testing the Tesla model y any time soon? For the q50 replacement, I’m thinking of the model y. It’s very quiet in around town driving. But once on the hwy, I found the wind and road noise very loud. I would love to hear your expert review.
@@Wasabi9111 We'd really like to. Maybe we'll find someone local that would be willing to let us borrow one. Tesla doesn't do press vehicles and they don't have dealerships, so it's tough for us to get into them. Why are you thinking Model Y over Model 3?
I have a 2018 Q50 Red Sport with this system (minus CarPlay, which I really wish it had). Previously owned an '08 IS350 with the Mark Levinson system and also a '13 335i M Sport with the HK system. I've also spent considerable time with B&O systems in Audi's and Fords and they are excellent, but NOTHING has ever compared to the Levinson system as far as my ears have found. It's the one thing I miss the most about the IS350. Something about the ML system which I believe is unique, is it uses a very sophisticated DSP circuit to take less than stellar sources and re-process them and "fix" them to make them sound better. The musical detail, clarity and depth is eargasmic. The ML systems can reproduce bass notes at frequencies lower than the human ear is able to hear, but you can feel them. Bass is so deep, clear and powerful I usually kept it at a lower setting because it was powerful enough to rattle your insides and that gets old haha. You can crank up the ML systems with very little if any fatigue, which I can't say about the Bose in my Q50RS. I know there are some others out there that are amazing OEM systems and I don't have a ton of experience with most of them, other than B&O which I also love. But of the higher end OEM systems, this Bose system just isn't exceptional. It's very good, but not "eargasmic". Basically, if you are a fan of Bose you'll probably love it and I know some commenters here say it's the best system they've ever heard. If you love it, great. Enjoy it. But now that my ears are forever spoiled, to me it lacks the subtle musical nuance, clarity and detail of the better high-end systems. I've had my car for just about 3 yrs now so I've had a lot of time to tinker with it (spent the first 2+ years never being able to find a combination of settings I was happy with) and I've settled on leaving all of the DSP settings ON, bass at 1 notch below max, treble maxed and fade set 1 notch to the rear. Otherwise the front door drivers and center channel overwhelm the rear. To me it just sounds far too front-biased in the center position...you can easily miss hearing any notes from the 10" sub in the rear shelf. I've been pretty happy with it in this setting for several months now. I will say there are some tracks that sound fantastic on this system but it is often underwhelming. That said, I am not the biggest fan of Bose and would definitely not be more biased towards a particular car equipped with a Bose system, so there's a disclaimer. I think they make amazing-for-the-size personal speakers and I have their 3-2-1 system in my front room where I didn't want to run a full surround setup and it sounds good for what it is (definitely can't hold a candle to the Marantz/Klipsh system in my theater room but that was also a far more costly set up...totally worth it). But when it comes to in-car systems, you can do much better than this. I would rate this system 8/10 when compared to it's peers. Still enjoyable, but it leaves me wanting a bit more. The HK system in my BMW was a 8.5/10 as it had better mid-range and far more adjustability. Clarity was really good, but the bass, although powerful enough, was never quite as deep as I wanted. Otherwise it was a pretty solid system. I'd rate the B&O systems I've heard at 9/10. Bass is deep and powerful (although it depends which B&O system and which car it's in) and overall sound quality is excellent, but still seems slightly below the ML systems I've listened to in Lexus cars. This was confirmed once again over MLK weekend at the car show where I sat in an IS500 and a LX600, both equipped with the ML systems. I was literally giddy listening to them...made me want a Lexus again just for the sound system, but I'll probably wait a bit longer and see if they put a turbo 6 in the IS sedan haha...different subject for another day.
I own a 2021Q50 RedSport and it's the same color as this one and the sound system is excellent. I had a 2019 Q50 RedSport that was black and the sound system in that one was a Bose that sounded good too but didn't sound as good as this one.
About damn time they added andriod auto and ACP. I own a 2018 RS, im gonna buy the tesla style full screen for mine. Infiniti makes great cars but they always fall behind on technology.
with the stock sound settings..... jeez the bass just overwhelms the song... you need to use the EQ and up the treble... JEEZUS just listening to it flat it sounds TERRIBLE! this needs to be setup properly.... I wish you did test of what it sounds like factory and what it sounds like after tweaking the EQ and sound settings.... that would greatly help consumers :) just a thought ^_^ Listening to your sound test with sennheiser headphones with a GSX1000 soundcard in 7.1
Your have to put them on a cd or maybe better a stick or flash drive! The vehicle does have a single in-dash Compact Disc player! And of course AppleCarPlay and Android Auto!

@@mikej6565 well if I’m spending that much on a NEW car I would want it to at least have a different gauge cluster than the 2016 version of itself I’m a car guy I’m positive most people feel this way.
@@GLA45Amg716 I understand. It's no fun having the same thing twice. That's the "slow refresh game" with Infiniti. Q50 and Q60 are still good cars.
