I like the original arrangement of this song from 1977 Dolly did much better. But I loved her putting this in the movie Straight Talk. I remember taking a long lunch break to see the first showing of the movie the day it came out. LOVE this movie.

She had several number ones on the US Country Songs chart, but prior to HYCA, only Jolene and Light of a Clear Blue Morning from New Harvest... First Gathering had appeared on the Hot 100 at #60 and #87 respectively. Where it’s wrong is that this is the Straight Talk version, and not the 1977 version. This song is like having a really bad day and crying about it to your grandmother and she hugs you and says, “it’s gonna be okay, baby”
I prefer an earlier version where it starts slower and then builds to a big finish. Has a more gospel blues feel. But I agree with you in terms of RRHOF: if she goes, she should sing this and the Dumplin’ versions of Two Doors Down and Here I Am, and get the ladies who collaborated with her to sing with her again. Especially Sia! That would be something.
