I remember playing this so long ago. I wondered what it became. Thanks for digging it up. It's almost like archaeology really. My experience was good. Like, the game was fairly fun, I racked up a dozen hours at least. I even played in one of those tournaments at some point, and let me tell you we got completely wrecked. It was as you said: the other team had farmed the shit out of the game and gotten way more upgrades than we had. Specifically, there was a potion item in the game that, iirc, could be used to gain health and mana regen. That item could be made stronger outside of games, with resources you got from playing, and when you'd buy it in a game (or maybe it was given by default at the start?), you'd get your own upgraded version. Well, in that tournament I played in, all the best teams had maxed it. We hadn't. The match we lost, we basically couldn't do shit lol. The enemy team would heal through all our damage with their upgraded potion items. Anyway, game was fun. It didn't stand a chance vs LoL or DotA, but it could have found its public.
Do you remember that MOBA by Microsoft that never left Beta? It was the first MOBA to reward supports for being supports. All roles were rewarded differently.
I'm pretty sure the next game I'm writing the script for gave me a virus, and they definitely don't own the rights to half the assets they used in the game. But I got the footage. I loved playing strife, it was a refreshing break from league playing some new heroes in an easier game where you can noob stomp and do cool stuff. Playing Carter and blind sniping people in fog of was delectable. I’m glad you made this video, I didn’t even know strife was still playable. Years ago I tried to get back into it and found it was gone :(
one of the best mobas ive tried. the item crafting system was fun. there was a small competitive scene and at the time i was abusing the item that gives you invisibility with malady since her skills are just in range of the detection zone. won a few titles during that short time with my team.
Just saying the algorithm does help small youtubers. I dont denerally watch moba content, I habe also kever seen this channel before or heard kf the game. But the videk seemed interesting and it turns kut the channel is under 1k subs and the video also hasnt even cracked 1k. Pretty cool to discover this video.
It's a real gamble for me to just 3 days into a video, but seeing the work ethic give a result is satisfying, and glad I can give people good content. 😴😴
bro this is a good review, but may I suggest you tone down on your snarkiness or at least make it more obvious, its hard to tell when you are being sarcastic or not after a while. And for this review specifically I think it would benefit from a litlle more seriousness.
They should port this game for mobile imo on pc it cannot compete with other mobas This will work perfectly in mobile moba market maybe a few changes here and there and it will be perfect
A lot of the things the game claimed as differentiators back then were true, but league and dota eventually implemented those ideas. If you would have played strife back in 2015 you’d have seen it was actually a breath of fresh air. Strife is nowhere near one of the worst mobas ever, all of the negatives you’re pointing out are simply symptoms of the game being abandoned for nearly a decade. Frankly, the game was really nice on the initial launch and it seems like the brainpower behind it must have left the team shortly after. My guess is that the HoN team left and went to work for riot or valve and brought the few good ideas like rift herald and no purchased wards over to those games.
Good analysis. Makes sense. MOBAs devs are cheap whores that take the best pay and jump ship. And there is NOTHING wrong with that, just something I've observed. Ice frog being the biggest one of all haha. Ice frog secretly worked on League, and HoN before dota as well.
