The Seiko SSK001 is just not the same...

Welcome back! In this video we will be talking about two similar looking watches, the SSK001 and the SKX007. The SSK001 is probably the most attainable gmt watch of seiko as of today. The same way the SKX007 used to be. Cheap, reliable and durable. But there is something about it that just doesn't seem right... Let me share what that is..

I bought a 2018 SKX three years ago. I liked it so mush, I bought a 2017 SKX last year. NOTHING is better than the original.

I paid $260 for the first and $305 for the second; both in near mint condition. There are good deals out there if you are patient.

Good review. I have both the SKX007 and the SSK003 and love them both for different reasons. Although, I tend to wear my SKX007 far more often as it is my favorite Seiko in my collection.

Outstanding video comparison Kirby. Like you I own the SKX009 original and a SKX011J1 . I also own the SSK003 blueberry GMT and I just recently picked up the new Double Hurricane SRPK11. I will forever love the original SKX but I gotta admit the newer Seiko 5 watches and the new GMT watches are amazing 🤩

Personally i prefer the Citizen NY004, but i find the discussions surrounding the SKX pretty interesting. It proves that either Seiko was mistaken in discontinuing it or malicious in exploiting its fame via dubious successors - the "5KX". Yet i think the GMTs aren't absurd cousins to the SKX; i believe it's what Seiko would've made years ago, when dive GMTs weren't a lot common and such a complication would be more often used outside the water instead.

There is no line 5KX. That is just silly name from 'experts' like you. It is not succesor of SKX. To be honest, I really don't see big appeal of SKX. What is so awesome and unique or even legendary about that watch? I like this GMT much more. Looks more refined and modern to me. Where would be internet without constant comapring everything...

007 is 200m and ISO. It will always be a classic. The 5kx is a nice watch but its not a real dive watch.
