Definitely would have been terrible not having Foggy & Karen around. Sounds like the prior show-runners didn’t want to pay those actors or write interesting storylines for them. Ecstatic that the ship is righted and we’re getting 18 episodes.
I saw one story during the writers/actors' strikes that said one reason the studios wanted it called Daredevil Born Again instead of Daredevil Season 4 was because they could short all the staff from their old contracts by saying it's a completely different project. After seeing how the strike went and how uncool studio heads were (cough) Bob Iger (cough)! I have little doubt that that's exactly what happened there. Damn. I hope all will be mostly swell now.
Will see at least it’s the people from the punisher and Loki who are going to write it. I trust them I enjoyed watching the shows.
Not wanting to have core characters in the story just because they didn't want to spend extra to pay them is crazy.
Series that go into later seasons, cost more so they were being cheap by changing the name, thus the show.

A chance….but it’s still being made by Disney, so I still don’t have high hopes for Born Again. I guarantee it’s not going to be as visceral and violent as the original show.

I don't think they are major roles. I think Matt has a new love interest in this story name Heather Glenn, the actress was already cast and scheduled for 18 episodes.

Karen having a big part could bring soap opera love triangle drama. Also don't want to see him and Foggy fighting about him being Daredevil, no thanks.
@@kicknowledgesmith8608 Karen can still be a big part and not be a love interest. They are good friends in the show and only dated for a bit in S2 which didn't work out because Matt cared about Elektra more.
@@bloodymares Fair enough, but I have 0 faith that Disney can replicate Netflix Daredevil. They considered Echo dark and edgy. That was a hard PG 13 at best and it sucked. Kingpin was poorly handled.

I really hope Bullseye returns. I hope there are some surprise returns for the rest of the Defenders. Punisher seems most likely to return since he was in the original version of Born Again it’s the new writers worked on the Punisher. Spider-Man showing up because Kingpin’s anti-vigilante laws affect him too would be a cool surprise..

Daredevil is Marvel's best show, by far. It's better than all the movies, too. Charlie Cox is as good as DD as Hemsworth, Downey, and Evans were in their roles. Can't wait to see DD/Matt, Foggy, and Karen back together, again. Adding Jon Bernthal is the cherry on top of this delicious sundae!!
I love Daredevil but Loki is the best show in my opinion.
@MadMaxx_V8Interceptor Sadly a lot of adolescents and adults IRL in my community that love MCU, Batman/DC, Star Wars, Avatar, Anime, and TMNT didn't give DD much of a chance and dropped it before the stick episode because apparently it's slow stale boring and lame and DD is weak and stupid for being blind and love Arroverse, Mandalorian, and mainstream shows on Prime and Max. Yea they loved the Arroverse and didn’t give DD much of a chance
One particular person IRL who is a know it all and biased DC hypocrite objects that the MCU sucks and should be more like The Dark Knight (stakes and consequences, people dying, dark tone, Batman beating up Joker in interrogation) and ironically he loves the Arrowverse and says it’s great and says DC has better Live Action Shows than Marvel. He said Flash and Arrow are great and that he “tried watching Daredevil" but it wasn't "that good" and everyone around him agreed/didn’t say anything

I can tell you that what I loved about the old Daredevil and Punisher shows besides the story was the absolutely adult, brutal and bloody action - so a kid-friendly Daredevil isn't exactly what i would want.
Exactly we don’t want that childish stuff.
Some of the action scenes were so good I felt beat up after them, like when he fights his way out of the building. Intense, gritty, no cgi.
The Born Again story by Frank Miller is an all time comics classic. I hope they actually do it justice.

They already adapted that story in S3. This is adapting the Matt Fraction run.
While people are excited for the Netflix shows and always talk about the “grittiness” and violence, the BEST Netflix shows were the ones that concentrated on character arcs, internal struggles, and battling inner conflicts as well as outside conflict.
Unfortunately Disney hasn’t really shown me they can make a satisfying story about character. Either there is no development and it’s just a series of plot chases or the character “changes” but there is no real journey or reason, but just a “I used to be bad, but now I’m good”.
That’s why Matt’s faith, Karen and Focgy were so important in the first series: they drove the internal story (and Punisher and even Electra (even though not my personal favorite part) did too while also driving the action).
So getting them back in the story in the first place is a good first step, but we will see if they know what to do with them.
if it's character development you want, did I hear right when he said they were bringing the Loki series writers? 'cause in the MCU, you can't really have a better character development than Loki's, tbh... took 14 years but still :'D
Loki wasn't bad. Let's see what they do since Marvel also produced the Netflix Daredevil, they might also pull up Born Again.
I completely agree. What scares me the most is the possible superficial interpretation of the plot and characters. The best thing about the series was the huge amount of detail and internal development, not only in the acting, which was great, but also in makeup, scenery, dialogues, and even the staging of fights.
Bring back Foggy and Karen and please give Mathew an improved apartment.

@@murk4552 from where I see it most of the time they were just complaining about his vigilantism and putting pressure on him to give up the Daredevil persona, acting like it was taboo for Matt to try and help people, even though they should have had no say in what Matt does with his time.
Whereas the only times they were his moral compass were when Electra was bringing out his darker side or when he was wanted to delete Kingpin as an exception to his rule.
@piyushgyl97 well they were a law firm and if Daredevil got himself killed being a careless vigilante, that is a problem. Punisher put it plainly "You put them down, I make sure THEY STAY DOWN".
I’m really glad that they’re bringing all the original cast back. They deserve that and I hope they do the Karen storyline correctly. I really would love to have Matt Murdoch have a love interest for sure.

Smart move! Karen and Foggy are like MJ and Ned; they greatly contributed to Matt's personal life and since this is supposed to be a continuation of the "Netlfix" series, it would've been a bad move to piss it all away. I don't expect Born Again to be as great as its predecessor, but might be one the right track.

I don't know what their plans for Elektra are right now. But I don't expect them to recast the role in season 1.

The biggest reason that Alien 3 pissed off the audience, then bombed, was the way they killed off three beloved characters off-screen right at the beginning. I think Feige must have realized that doing the same with Foggy and Karen would have caused a similar reaction.
I was worried about not having Foggy and Karen. I love Deborah Ann Wohl. I keep wanting to see Jessica Jones FLY in on a non-Defenders show. A scene of she and Rogue doing a team combo like Jason Statham and Jet Li in Expendables, keeps playing in my head. Jet kicks, Jason kicks. That move. Thx for the vid.

The Echo writers found out they were only getting 5 episodes instead of 6 right before they were to start filming episode 4. It explains a lot of the pacing issues and its also irritating that Marvel keeps shooting themselves in the foot.

This make so hype for daredevil born again great news because the heart of the show was the trio Matt- foggy - karen hearing that they're coming back ,and not to get unceremoniously killed makes me happy i hope theyre in it the same amount as they were in the netflix shows, and we get a official confirmation of this when they do start back filming or at least some set photo confirming it.
I completely agree with you. Echo didn't have that Netflix tonality. Disney's take on it can't dictate Daredevil too. It has to be Kevin Feige's version and should bring back the tonality from the Netflix version.
Omg. I was just rewatching True Blood and day dreaming about how hot Deborah Ann Woll is and this showed up in my feed. It's a shame she's blonde in this but as a big secondary school crush of mine her presence compels me to check this series out now!
Glad to hear that Foggy and Karen are coming back. I have been a longtime reader of DD and those two characters are integral to DD. But,TBH, Wilson killing them would have made sense after the events of the Netflix series. Especially, Karen after she admitted to Fisk that she killed Wesley. I heard that the actress who plays Vanessa is in another series and that sucks because I loved she and Wilson’s chemistry. I am wondering how she will figure in the series. I haven’t seen Echo yet so I don’t know if she was mentioned in some way. Anyhow, I am glad that Karen and Foggy are back. Anxious for Bullseye in future seasons and other Defenders’ characters. After Frank, Jess would make the most sense because she is an investigator. Then, Luke and Danny are ‘Heroes for Hire.’

I'm really glad they canonized the Netflix shows. They were all very good, and it was difficult to wrap my mind around them not being part of the MCU canon. I hope that means they'll do something to wrap up the twist ending they threw in at the end of Iron Fist.
Killing Foggy and Karen would have caused a fan revolt and would have been another level of depression.
Last Year there was a lot of craze around Chris Pratt's F-bomb in Guardians Vol. 3 an how it was the first in the MCU, but now that the Netflix shows are canon to the MCU the first F-bomb line was delivered by the Punisher in Daredevil season 2.
So glad. I loved Foggy and Karen and Claire. I’m assuming Claire is coming back also. She’s one of the main go-between characters that really tied the Netflix series together. She was awesome

Ive been wondering what was up with these guys.....Karen is haunting in the Netflix series. She just carries a weight on her shoulders you can always see her straining to hold up....that actress is smokin too.
And Foggy is really appreciate important too....hes not just the souce of levity....that scene with the gang members in the ER where he talks them down......that feels genuinely authentic...you can feel him scrambling through his thoughts like he does at the biker club.

i should think so, she goes around getting people killed (or killing them).
Echo could have been better. The director and writers should have gotten ideas from Quiet Place 1 and 2. That would have been epic. And Echo already had amazing skills in the comics, so why give her powers? Echo is literally the female version of Taskmaster. The director and writers should have gotten inspiration from Sherlock Holmes movies played by Robert Downey Jr. Those fight scenes where Sherlock Holmes slows down the fight and analyze the next best move - that should have been implemented in Echo. You can tell there was a budget cut with a big downgrade in the last 2 episodes of Echo. The first three episodes looked decent, but the last two episodes spent so much time with people sitting and talking.
I kinda wanna see what dare devil was going through during the snap, like how does he know what's happening around him as people are disappearing etc
I hope they continue showing where people were when that happened, also I hope Luke Cage is still a bad guy like from the Netflix ending

Echo was a show that was made during the pandemic, all the positive changes they've implemented have only been implemented on the shows they start filming this year.
Charlie do you think Daredevil knew that Ronin is Clint (Hawkeye)? I think DD would've gone after him like he would with Punisher.
They probably crossed paths during Hawkeye's time in NYC during the five year time jump. But they weren't friends or anything.

According to a discussion I just had hours ago, Foggy is a bigger fan favorite than Karen. In any case, having them both return was a good decision.
There's no way you can sample the entire fanbase, it's too large. But they are both important characters.

If they’d killed Karen and Foggy off screen or just not used them at all and stuck to the original idea for this series then I wouldn’t have watched and that’s a shame as the Netflix daredevil and punisher series’ are my favourite marvel series to date. It makes me so glad they’ve changed how they’re going about series’ and gives me hope that this new daredevil series will be good and live up to the Netflix counterpart.

Glad punisher will be back with Red. The 2nd season definitely made daredevil a better show and great way to introduce Jon barenthals punisher. Marvel writers did rigut with these two series. I think it’s time we see Karen and Frank together. They been teasing that so much before
The remaining Defenders could cameo in Daredevil and perhaps Spider-Man 4. Also, I hope Electra from the Netflix series returns.
Them planning to kill Karen and Foggy OFFSCREEN would've been straight up unforgivable. Like I would quit the MCU entirely.
It wouldn't have been Daredevil without Karen and Foggy. I'm *so* happy that they're making the necessary changes so that Born Again looks and feels like seasons 1-3 of Daredevil. Cannot wait.

i think echo was a decent start. despite it being a boring story. I liked the brutality and there werent stupid jokes every 5 seconds
I'm a huge DD fan. I went to NYC a few years back, and took photos of the building housing Nelson & Murdock in the series, of the Fisk building of the first season... Echo was very disappointing, it felt like they used all the lame story elements i n Miss Marvel, just moving a few things (a gangster instead of a schoolgirl, Native American/Mystic family instead of Pakistanese/Inhuman family... And that boring girl power reveal at the end). This is plain bad writing and that's a shame because I really enjoyed Vincent Donofrio's performance, he's as scary as ever.

Karen Paige does not need to be in the series any longer. She became an incredible drag as the old series went on. She was responsible for Ben Urich getting killed and was frankly quite annoying, and in the comics became a drug addict and gave up Daredevil's identity. Foggy's character needs some adjustment since he became a consistent irritation as well. He knows Matt will never stop being Daredevil but would still constantly chastise him for it. Tiresome.
daredevil is the most useless hero for me...i only watch it because of punisher and karen page...some of his problems are because he failed to finish from the beginning....XD freakin trying to get all women, one after the other....while frank just doing his role....
They better do a better job than the Netflix version because the Netflix version was on point. No Karen or foggy, would have been garbage, Kevin Feige Echo look better, thank God it was not soft on violence

Like in the mcu Spiderman has already been to space and met people from other universes and fought world ending stakes, after all that street level stakes wouldnt fit in for Spiderman and that might just ruin the show and make it less grounded
Bringing the characters back is nice but without decent writing it will end up a bitter experience.
I hope the writing quality rises because, so far, Daredevil and Kingpin are a pale imitation of their former selves.

Them finally listening to the audience os probably the most positive sign ive seen from marvel in a good few years. Now of only Lucas film could get on that train.

Absolutely a good change. If they had killed them off and then set Matt on a vengeance trip, we might have got some good fight scenes but even if he'd have won in the end, the entire character would have been ruined. The pay-off of Daredevil is always that he goes back to being entirely lawful after very targeted and appropriate amounts of criminality. Sometimes he goes overboard and it takes longer to regain his trust in the law, but he's not the Punisher.
It's the peaceful man going to war trope done well, and if you kill off his found family then you only get to do that one more time before shelving him entirely for the MCU. That would be a crime of bad writing as the low level New York stuff is really the only stuff they produce with actual depth, and with dialogue worthy of it's name. Foggy and Karen have had seasons worth of character development too, it would be such a waste when so many characters are currently 2 dimensional due to how fast they've been introduced. Foggy and Karen should pop up everywhere, whenever there is a crime, even if only for a second, so any new heroes can bask in their reflected light of character development and be made more real as a result.
Killing them off just for the set-up of a single series is like having a band rehearsal where the ghost of Jimi Hendrix turns up wanting to jam with you for a single night only, and you insisting that he's best used in holding up the wonky leg of the drum-kit instead.
They should get rid of the 18 episodes shit cause that means lousy comedy go back to the 10 episodes with the depth and epic fights we had back then if it ain’t broken

I like my idea of for a little while after the snap with foggy & Paige gone both Daredevil & Punisher do work together helping rein in much of the crazy riots I’m sure happens. Which would make an amazing first episode of born again actually then skip to after the blip
