Not sure if you know much about Denzel Curry, but he is a rapper. That is why this is so astonishing to everyone. He killed this shit. Would be cool to see you react to one of Denzel's Originals ;)
It shouldn't be surprising. He has that type of voice, and his genre is basically Trap Metal, and a lot of his music has that type of metal influenced style.
@@KiraDaBeastNY Oh I know he has a great voice for this. I love his music. I just didn't think it would transition this well. The energy he brings, the "screaming" was better then I would expect a rap artist to do. But also his energy towards his performance. You can tell he loves this song and it was part of his youth. Also, the fact that he did this was unexpected to me. I had no clue "like a version" existed but I think its great.

This is a magical song right here. I went to Denzel's concert here in Germany and it was absolutely fantastic. After 8 moshpits or so, we figured he has to be done for today. But no. He Fcking Played This Song As The Finisher. It was so goddamn crazy, the air was pure energy and the whole hall was doing the craziest moshpits I have ever witnessed. LEGENDARY

The guitar sound wasn't aggressive enough to match the energy of the vocals imo. Not many guitarists can match the execution of Tom Morello. That said, the cover was awesome
100%.. Morello is an all-timer. He invented the shit. Nobody really does what he does..
That’s true, Denzel really felt like he was invoking RATM with this rendition. While I respected the band for staying out of Denzel’s way for this cover, it would’ve been nice to hear a little more Morello in the guitar. Like he said in the beginning, maybe some less filter and some more wah?
@@1chaka Feels like the guitar was downplayed in this cover. I get it. I get it. Fantastic, passionate cover. Curry did an awesome job...But, one of the things that spoke most to me in the original was what was coming from Tom's guitar. Pure, driven power. Song gets me fired up!
A Micklich definitely, if the guitarist channeled Morello in the same way Curry channeled Zack it would’ve been THAT much better, it also would’ve just matched the energy of Curry’s vocals better too
Like a Version isn’t about sounding exactly like the original. It’s about putting your own spin on it. That’s what the guitarist was doing. Check out the Like a Version where Art vs. Science do what is essentially a disco version of Enter Sandman.

It's "like a version" not "like a cover" it's supposed to be different.
Its not really that different tho.. Its basically the same song with 1 extra verse the flow is pretty much exactly the same as the original. Was a great cover tho for sure.
I think Denzel really tried to pay respect to RATM since this is such an important song, and Denzel knew he’s straying kinda far from his usual audience so he didn’t wanna do too much rapping
In the instrumental they just didnt adjust the Pedal right, and thats it.. hmm

I didn't like the vocals. Outside of "pocket full of shells" and "bulls on parade" I couldn't understand a single word he said. Maybe that could have been fixed with a different microphone or at the mixing desk.
The radio station supplies the band so it's tough to judge Denzel on that considering he played no part in it

to answer your question, the guitar sounded identical in the rehearsals but obviously the guitar player chose another pedal and that changed the whole sound

Everyone is trippin, hearts killed it on guitar. If you are expecting it to sound like a copy paste version of Tom morello than you are listening to the wrong radio segment. Like a version is how artists make a song their own version.
His licks were fire, especially toward the end when he riffs a bit.
If you wanted a more “Tom” sounding guitar I think it would have took away from Denzel, and at the end of the day it’s Denzels like a version performance and not hearts like a version performance

Those pauses at the end of his own verse ruined the transition back to the RATM lyrics, which imo was the best part of the whole song.

Of course, again, nobody is Zack.. it is HIS words and he delivers it with more rage than anyone else.. but you could tell Denzel connects with the lyrics, and it is one of his favorite songs.
Well of course, it’s extremely rare for a cover to be better than the original, and this is RATM’s Bulls on Parade we’re talking about, hard to top. But you can’t den Denzel did a great job with his version of this song, you can tell he actually listens to this music and loves it
Tbh I wouldn't even be mad if someone said they preferred this over the original. Denzel's voice is different enough from Zack's to create a similar but different sound and the extra verse from SIRENZ fits in pretty well. Unbiased judgement, Denzel did a fantastic job.
That's why it's called a cover. Most covers are done with that artist's quirks.
