RUNNING LIST OF CORRECTIONS BASED ON 4.0 (SPOILERS FOR THOSE WORLD QUESTS IG) - the Director was just an oceanid, not former hydro archon, and was maybe named Lyris - the Vice Director was Basil Elton, formal Naval Commander - Narzissenkreuz Institute wasn't quite for superbabies - the Institute was a school for orphans and they HAPPENED to have two child geniuses who would grow up to be the two smartest people in Fontaine ever. - Jakob had inhuman strength because he was given abyssal power during the Sumeru trip. Still unsure why Rene and Jakob are more similar to the Gaokerena than Karl; maybe a pneumosia thing? But perhaps the structural issue is why the abyssal transformation worked on Jakob but not Carter
Oooooh! The other loreists I've watched are sleeping on Rene's notes, had no idea there was so much Fontaine stuff in there! If you haven't done Kaveh's hangout yet, I recommend. It's really good, but also we learn about his mother who is currently living in Fontaine. She has a pretty interesting name, and I have reasons to think we'll be meeting her there!
Yes!! I really love the nymph's dream set because it makes the yin-yang/daoist themes in genshin very present, which I feel like is an area of study really slept on by the genshin lore community even though it's a chinese game made by people who obviously really love xianxia/xuanhuan.
I guess all the loreists who are familiar with these philosophies write their theories in languages other than English and post on Eastern platforms, which stay largely off the radar for Western playerbase. And loreists whose content is made in English are mostly from the West and have little knowledge about Eastern stuff. It’s not even a matter of being “educated” or reading up a bit on Taoism etc. I’ve heard from CN speakers that yakshas titles and even most basic lore of Liyue are overflowing with Buddhism references and yet it completely flew over my head despite spending a few years of my childhood actively participating in a Western branch of Buddhist church (sorry if it’s not called “church” in EN, I’m not a native). One only gets those references if these philosophies are a part of their whole generational culture background

I'd say it's pretty easy to miss but there's some crazy Rene + Jakob lore there. (Also the one with Institute of natural philosophy [Alain] and Narzissenkreuz ones - obviously)
In retrospective, I love how little they told of Pneumosia energy yet they introduced it with as little as the notes do. Merely having name and image went a long way.
Hello! Just some thoughts as to why "Narcissus". In mythology, the curse of Narcissus usually ends when Narcissus becomes so thoroughly entranced by his own reflection that he falls in the lake and drowns. Like how Fontanians return to water when in contact with primordial water maybe..
The nymph and daffodil translation gave me a thought. What if nymph are a new race we will be introduced to when we enter fontaine like the youkai of inazuma or the aranara in sumeru. Maybe the children are nymphs. That's basically where my thought ends, do what you want with it

Everyone seems to think she has ties to Fontaine, but no one seems to have any theories why aside from the fact that she and her Ruin bot kinda dress like they are from there. I know believe that her strongest connection to Fontaine is through the Narzissenkreuz! But what about her possible connections with the Adventurers Guild via the Katheryn bots? Could there be parallels between the Narzissenkreuz and the Adventurers Guild? Maybe another previous member of the Narzissenkreuz founded the Adventurers Guild, and Sandrone helped by building the Katherynes? Either way I can't wait to find out more about this organization.

I've been pinning obvious corrections as a comment here, and making new vids about narzissenkreuz! that said I find it interesting that in 4.0 it implies Rene went for more of an abyssal approach when he LITERALLY said khvarena could be useful and interesting in an equal way
When I hear pearl, I always think about the Genesis Pearl from the BP video Gnostic Chorus. My biggest question would be why this Fontaine organization is using German for their organization name. Shouldn't it be in french or something

How i wish the Guillotine guy to be playable and have a character with an execution device as a name but i know deep down they will most likely make him a generic npc villain with a secret agenda and the traveler will do the meddling kid thing of stepping in and ruining his plans.
The so called "children" could of course be the same race as alice and klee, appearing as children but being so long lived they dont seem to have changed much. When we get to fontaine keep an eye out for those sporting elven ears.

I think the Narcissenkreuz has some link to Alice, or is composed of whatever species Alice and Klee are. They're not human, but pretty close.
