Brown fat dissipates excess energy as heat, reducing fat storage in the process. These sugars work on the cellular level to reduce fat storage potential and promote fat combustion. --- #### **6. Enzymatic and Nutritional Content of Honey Enhances Its Effects** Unlike sugar, honey contains enzymes and trace nutrients that amplify its positive effects on metabolism: - **Invertase**: An enzyme that breaks sucrose into glucose and fructose, making it easier for the body to utilize these sugars efficiently without creating an overwhelming glucose spike. - **Diastase**: Facilitates the breakdown of starches, improving carbohydrate utility and preventing prolonged glucose elevation in the bloodstream. - Together, these enzymes assist in maintaining stable blood sugar levels, improving glucose uptake by the cells, and reducing the likelihood of fat gain. Additionally, the small amounts of amino acids, vitamins, and minerals in honey contribute to its superior nutritional profile compared to plain sugar. --- #### **7. Reduced Risk of Fat Accumulation** Honey’s unique composition and processing of sugars minimize the hypertrophy (enlargement) of fat cells compared to sucrose. It also limits the accumulation of visceral fat, which is particularly harmful due to its association with metabolic diseases like diabetes and heart disease. Honey seems to promote healthier fat distribution and lower overall fat burden. --- ### **Conclusion** Thomas DeLauer’s analysis emphasizes how honey and sugar, while similar on paper, differ significantly in terms of their effects on the body. Thank-you for this. While carbs isn't for everyone I feel my best when I have a few. I've done no/low carb for months at a time and I feel like crap and sluggish every time.
This is fascinating. I've been avoiding honey even though it's often included on the allowed foods in the Carnivore diet I've been following for the past three and a half years. Mostly because I've considered it to be a crypto-sugar. But I've recently become interested in the supposed nutritive effects of raw unfiltered honey and I've added it to the cacao and cayenne I have every morning. I do remember a scandal many years ago about grocery store honey that wasn't really honey, just flavored high-fructose corn syrup, so be sure to read the labels very closely and only buy from a truly trusted source.
I went carnivore 4 months ago and kicked honey out. I have like 2 gallons in my pantry from my local bee guy in town. I've been thinking about adding a bit back in lately but was unsure if it would stall my ketosis and weight loss..🤷🏼♂️ what do you have with that cacao and cayenne? Just mix that into hot water or black coffee?
@@daveclark1904 I've been told the raw honey isn't supposed to get hot or warm because that will destroy some of the nutrients. I mix cacao powder and 1 tsp of cayenne in hot water, then I add cold water to cool it off before I add honey. It's supposed to help my circulation. This is the only non-carnivore food I consume.
@lorensims4846 that's awesome, and also use a wooden honey spoon as I've heard that the metal silverware will kill the enzymes and other good stuff..🤷🏼♂️
He's talking about raw honey, not the honey you buy from the supermarket, which is not only pasteurized and highly filtered, it is also NOT 100% honey and may contain quite a large percentage of glucose syrup.
Unsulfured blackstrap molasses is healthier than honey. It's a bit of an acquired taste and recipes for it are uncommon, but you can make some really good stuff with it if you get creative. I make these really simple blackstrap molsasses-einkorn flour cookies that have a low enough glycemic index to be safe for my blood sugar.

The question I have is what is the difference between a group eating a very low carb / keto diet and a group that ate the same diet but with some calories substituted with honey. What are the differences between these groups?
In my opinion that's the only study that I would care about. Swapping simple and processed carbs out with natural carb sources will always yield better results, anyone can tell you that. We've known that for a VERY long time. Honey in the low carb/keto space is an entirely different beast altogether.

Honey is mentioned in the Quran so Muslims see it as a blessed food and God mentions in the Quran that in honey is a healing benefit for makind. Muslims love honey and we have it all the time. I have a CGM and honey haled increases blood glucose. Unlike sugar which spikes it.
It was funny this morning that your video on honey was the first thing that popped up while I was getting my morning tablespoon of raw honey to go with my green. tea.
This is something that I had learned from yogic traditions. Honey in warm water was meant to clean the system and promote weight loss. Now that there is some science backing this up, I wonder then about the rest of the ideas about honey in yogic tradition… that honey in cold water promotes fat storage and that honey should never be cooked or boiled as it creates it into a toxic substance. It was basically recommended to consume honey in warm water or eaten at room temp and never ever cooked or used as an ingredient in cooked foods.
This study on humans was only on normal women 19-25 years old. Further study on the rest of the population(s) is needed. IMHO it is not ok for any diabetic persons in any regular consumption. For special occasions in small amounts Honey is preferable to sugar.
Are you keto/low carb? Maybe the safe play is to correct your type 2 and low carb can definitely do that. Get that fixed then you can start adding in honey. That's just a guess and maybe honey will be fine for you, as longs as you aren't guzzling it down.
Wow…. haven’t listened to your videos in a while…. I am very happy to hear that you slowed down your talking speed!! Definitely helps someone digest what you’re saying!
Question - if on a 0 carb diet would you be better off adding some honey or not having any carb / sugars at all? I can't wait until research studies include keto / carnivore as an arm of the trial. IE Ppl eating sucrose Ppl eating honey Ppl eating no carbs Maybe honey is better than sugar but not as good as 0 carb.
I guess if the body is not used to get carbs, it will probably go crazy if it suddenly gets honey. Then it's better to start with something low on carbs to get the body used to it, like two pieces of berries. But for an average person, who is used to eat sugar, the honey will make a big difference.
Yes true problem with meat the problem is meat contains the toxic chemicals the animals has been exposed to like pcb forever chemical thats ends up in your body after u eat it
Definitely NOT ‘everybody’. Some? Many even? Sure. But it simply doesn’t work for some. And to be honest I’m not 100% sold it’s working optimally for Paul either. He looks to have aged fast since incorporating all that fruit. Sure he’s doing ‘well’ but he’s biased against keto for all the wrong reasons. How do we know he didn’t just have a huge oxalate issue that makes it difficult for his body to manage to be in ketosis without issues? Looks just as much an issue of oxalate dumping causing electrolyte issues as what he claims. I think he bought into the bioenergetic / Ray Peat stuff a little too much. Some interesting ideas in there and Ray Peat was clearly a smart cookie but also clearly wrong about some things. Nonetheless I agree people should probably experiment and try different things but it’s easy to confuse cause and effect. Paul came to the conclusion keto is not healthy and on that I think his personal experience has blinded him to some context. I still respect the guy though. However whilst he has always been quite open minded I think he has landed on his religion in the end and is no longer as open minded as he used to be. I’ve never seen him consider the possibility of oxalates being potentially the reason keto did not work for him. Maybe what his experience teaches us all is that for those with a high level of built up oxalates from previous dietary habits, it may be difficult to make keto work? 🤷♂️ I do wonder if it is possible to detox the oxalates gradually until the the metabolism works ‘properly’ on keto for these people or whether it would be better to use carbs as a ‘crutch’ to feel much better earlier and forgo the obvious benefits that ketosis offers to those that do fine with it. Personally I think ketosis is a natural human state and that it may be beneficial to come out of ketosis for a short time perhaps once a year.
I thought it was a bit extreme When I said everyone ha ha But even so I'm hearing more and more say that seems the Perfect diet I do agree with you I don't know why Paul's ageing Faster then he should it seems all the Longevity u tubers seem To age quicker like David sinclair Bryan Johnson Michael Lustgarten Perhaps they take everything to the Extreme.
As you were talking about the components of honey with their benefits, it made me wonder why no one has considered creating a concoction of those favorable components. You probably have the connections and wherewithal to experiment with this idea.
In The Netherlands a consumer organization tested a range of 'natural honey' brands. Result: most brands were diluted with cheap sugars sirops. I am still struggling to find a reliable brand that has good quality pure raw honey. 😭
i recommend wearing CGM and do a scientific experiment: 16 g sugar+4g water, 20 honey (liquid), each taken with 50 ml water aftewards o get it down. I tested, after 12h fast. The reaction is the same. I don't say it would taste bad, or be more harmful than sugar. It is just the same. Practically, it is a conscious consumption, not a hdden one, of sugar, and such one might not consume as much... and it is also much more expensive...

@ lol its answers like this that help me realize that there are literal “consumers” and then there are people who actually dig in to ask deeper questions. The reason I asked the question is to be sure if I cook with it, will it lose some of these properties and enzymes? Can I mix it into a smoothie? Can I use it with my tea and coffee and it not lose its benefits because of the heat? Is it wiser to mix it into once the beverage has cooled down? But thanks for your response. Clearly I wasn’t in need of your assistance.
Time has come for us to stop believing the same old hype we always been fed, even old info like honey being just as bad as sugar Studies that are old can also be a bunch of bull
The normal processed honey or the raw honey, or both the same? But it shouldn't be eaten pure, only with a fatty meal before and mixed with yogurt or butter, that will lower the spike a lot. But if your body can't tolerate it at all, no matter in what combination, it's better to avoid it.
In Ayurveda we have always prescribed honey as a sugar substitute for metabolic disorders and obesity. Also Ayurveda is a treasure trove of knowledge when it comes to gut biome modifying herb combinations which can treat almost all metabolic and autoimmune disorders!
From what I've read, raw honey shouldn't be heated more than 134 degrees. Anything hotter kills all those beneficial enzymes and basically makes your body respond to the honey as if it's straight sugar. Don't quote me on this, I read that like 4 years ago. But I definitely don't use honey as a sugar substitue for baked goods, I'll use maple syrup or allulose. I also don't add it to super hot coffee or tea, let it cool a little first! Hope this helps ❤️
If you're gonna incorporate honey, make sure it's raw! Look into your local bee farms in and around your town for best quality. Don't buy from stores, not even sprouts or whole food. Support local!
Raw honey is king. We know so little om how real foods work. Yes I consider raw honey, milk, cheese a wholefood. Ultraprocessed foods are the real problem
No, it's not sugar, it contains sugar. The differece is, that sugar is only sugar, with no benefits. Honey contains substances who have benefits. So if somebody wants sweet taste and is able to eat sugar, it's better to eat honey instead. Better taste than sugar, and has additional benefits.

You can buy raw organic honey at the store.
Some stores sell raw honey but it's more expensive
@ where else would you buy it?
I buy raw honey from my normal supermarket
Unsulfured blackstrap molasses is healthier than honey. It's a bit of an acquired taste and recipes for it are uncommon, but you can make some really good stuff with it if you get creative. I make these really simple blackstrap molsasses-einkorn flour cookies that have a low enough glycemic index to be safe for my blood sugar.
It depends on what kind of honey, So much honey is a skam . I buy from my friend in Denmark who has bee hives and sometimes I even go and help prepare the honey.
Dane here, what's the best honey you can buy at the grocery store?
Clover honey is very sweet with a unique flavour.
They need to test the metabolic outcomes of different honey types.
Worked as a beekeeper for a while. From fennel to manuka honey, there is a wide variety to choose from.
The honey available here in Aus are Woolworths or Coles is more like 70% sugar and 30% "honey".
Yes but these days coles and woolies do sell proper raw honey and honeycomb

Is it ok to add honey to coffee in the morning?
Same as eating an apple is not the same as drinking coke as many prominent tubers claim.
2:16 Love dipping my grass fed beef in my natural local honey.Honey kills parasites too. It is a superfood.

The reason for the less percentage difference in the human study is likely because humans have such varied diets.
Good thing we love honey in our house 😊... especially the local ones to help with our allergies 🙌
I had no idea honey could have such a big impact on metabolism! This is a total game-changer. I’m definitely going to try this out. 🍯🔥
It'll bind to your proteins and glycate
I'm still confused...I'm a Type 2 diabetic, can I still eat honey, or is it a no-no for diabetics? Thanks!
Honey has much higher glycemic index than traditional sugar and therefore not suitable for for diabetics or strict Carnivores
This study on humans was only on normal women 19-25 years old. Further study on the rest of the population(s) is needed. IMHO it is not ok for any diabetic persons in any regular consumption. For special occasions in small amounts Honey is preferable to sugar.
As a diabetic, why will you want to eat honey?
You need to get metabolically healthy before I would consume honey.
Are you keto/low carb? Maybe the safe play is to correct your type 2 and low carb can definitely do that. Get that fixed then you can start adding in honey. That's just a guess and maybe honey will be fine for you, as longs as you aren't guzzling it down.
Does heating the honey i.e. putting it in hot tea or coffee reduce its benefits ?
Hot water can kill some vitamins and minerals. That's it. It's still used for medicinal purposes like for couch
Great info. 🎉
Wow…. haven’t listened to your videos in a while….
IE
Ppl eating sucrose
Ppl eating honey
Ppl eating no carbs
Maybe honey is better than sugar but not as good as 0 carb.
I guess if the body is not used to get carbs, it will probably go crazy if it suddenly gets honey. Then it's better to start with something low on carbs to get the body used to it, like two pieces of berries. But for an average person, who is used to eat sugar, the honey will make a big difference.
Everybody is coming round
To Paul saladinos
Way of thinking
Meat fruit and Raw Honey.

By the way, raw honey has all its enzymes and helps with digestion
Honey is ambrosia.
Thanks for sharing this!!!
Just found out that sugar or cane sugar causes epileptic seizures in people😮😢
i recommend wearing CGM and do a scientific experiment: 16 g sugar+4g water, 20 honey (liquid), each taken with 50 ml water aftewards o get it down. I tested, after 12h fast. The reaction is the same.
I don't say it would taste bad, or be more harmful than sugar. It is just the same. Practically, it is a conscious consumption, not a hdden one, of sugar, and such one might not consume as much... and it is also much more expensive...

I personally have a negative reaction to honey. The cause is primarily fructose, I believe.
You should have wrote I Beelieve.
You could try wood honey, it has less fructose than a normal honey from flowers.
I use about 100 grams of manuka honey as part of my intra workout. easier on the gut than other carb sources when working out.

honey is natural - how did anyone think its the same as refined sugar?
Sugar is sugar for the body en the brains fruit honey al are the same
People are morons. That’s why.
Isnt most honey on the self refined honey?
Should we not consume honey at the same time as something particularly fatty?
Maybe anti inflammatory fish oil would by pk at tge same time?
Fascinating. Is there a difference between clover honey and other bee honey? Or processed vs raw?
Clover honey is produced by bees that forage pollen primarily from clover.
It’s the same. Clover is the honey made by bees who feed on clover. There is orange blossom, buckwheat, and all types of Henie’s out there. God is so good!
@@melissaculpepper7663 How do you know it is the same? Clover honey is made from only clover. So-called bee honey is made from a variety of sources and tastes notably different.

What is the best way to consume honey?
for real ?,,,eat it
@ lol its answers like this that help me realize that there are literal “consumers” and then there are people who actually dig in to ask deeper questions.

Moderation is 🔑
My dates have always liked honey. I won’t go out with anyone who doesn’t.
What if you combined raw honey wirh allulose?
My Ma's cousin had a hive, and in winter, he fed them sugar, so, what if the industry has that practise? Can all of us afford "Manuka" ?
is a specific honey better ? like manuka honey or doesn't it matter ?
Time has come for us to stop believing the same old hype we always been fed, even old info like honey being just as bad as sugar
Studies that are old can also be a bunch of bull
What about 100% pure organic high grade maple syrup? Extremely high in sugar but natural. And extremely tasty.
Honey spikes my glucose just like sugar. My body doesn't know the difference
What type? Most store honey has allot of HFCS, that's not just honey.
Try real raw honey, with comb if possible from a local bee keeper
The normal processed honey or the raw honey, or both the same? But it shouldn't be eaten pure, only with a fatty meal before and mixed with yogurt or butter, that will lower the spike a lot. But if your body can't tolerate it at all, no matter in what combination, it's better to avoid it.
In Ayurveda we have always prescribed honey as a sugar substitute for metabolic disorders and obesity.
Also Ayurveda is a treasure trove of knowledge when it comes to gut biome modifying herb combinations which can treat almost all metabolic and autoimmune disorders!
Does it matter raw vs regular store bought and whether you cook with it or add it to hot things?
From what I've read, raw honey shouldn't be heated more than 134 degrees. Anything hotter kills all those beneficial enzymes and basically makes your body respond to the honey as if it's straight sugar. Don't quote me on this, I read that like 4 years ago. But I definitely don't use honey as a sugar substitue for baked goods, I'll use maple syrup or allulose. I also don't add it to super hot coffee or tea, let it cool a little first! Hope this helps ❤️
And that is not even the added benefits of raw, unfiltered local honeys.
I wonder if this also applies to maple syrup.
So, does this mean honey is better for diabetics then?
I wonder if pure maple syrup has more benefits than has been believed as well.
I use honey in my coffee every morning instead of sugar. Tastes just as good imo 🤷🏻♂️
Thanks
I always tell friends and family, you can eat everything from nature without thinking, you can throw to waste everything is made industrial.
High quality raw honey is very nice :X and behaves very differently to sources of sucrose in the body, in a good way
If we take armra colostrum would we need to still take seed as a probiotic or would armra cover that?

But what if you only add honey as the change
Honey is sugar. no amount of low quality studies can change that
not the same as sugar sugar is cancerous raw honey has been proven to be anti cancer
