Thanks! It's definitely a fine line between keeping the patina and not letting it get any worse. My biggest worry would be the gas tank rusting out, but the inside of mine is in good condition so I'm not worried for now.
I liked your plan to keep the exterior as a postcard from the past but the changes to restore the mechanical to it's former glory as the rue portrait of the motorcycle. Great video. Thank you for the entertainment.
Hey guys, great video, I really enjoyed watching y'all give some new life to that old lady. Do you happen to know if there are any notable differences mechanically between this GS750 and an '81 GS850G? There's a pretty decent chance that I'll be buying one tomorrow and I'm kind of looking for videos that can help me get that thing on the road again. Cheers!
j'ai un peu de mal a comprendre qu'on "restaure" une mécanique moto et qu'on laisse de coté l'esthétique... Le plaisir d'un motard c'est de rouler sur une moto propre et en bon état...
Boys, another grand “revival”. Your message at the end is most appropriate. The next chapter is now, ongoing. Two thumbs up.
Hi to Dad,
Stew
well done
Thank you
I'm dying to see that bike get washed and rust get treated
If you complain loud enough, maybe David will do it
I love your view on this bike, however I am repainting mine for the rust prevention. Keeping the few dents that are in the tank though

Biggest difference is that the 850 is 100cc bigger, and 81 should have the 16 valve engine.
Dave’s garage > Dan’s garage
Dave did the work and I did the voiceover it's a team effort

It's in good (mechanical) condition. And I'd rather be riding it than removing corrosion from every nut and bolt.
Did I see you measure out 6 ounces of fork oil by weight? 😮 It's supposed to be 6 fluid ounces (volume), NOT by weight. Huge difference 😮
Woops, I was doing this at like 2am and obviously wasn't thinking.
Speculation or specification?!
Yes
