  • Hi everyone, first of all sorry for the wind noise and me covering my mic sometimes I'm shooting this on my Note 10plus, but anyway this is a little guide with some tips to help anyone fix a fuel pressure sensor for a is250 I'm pretty sure the same goes for a is350 but don’t quote me on that. Their isn’t many videos on this, so hopefully this one has just enough info so you guys and ladies do this yourself. Comment for anymore questions you got I will definitely answer them. Have a great day, Stay Safe.
**WHEN YOU ARE TRYING TO TAKE OFF THE FUEL PRESSURE SENSOR MAKE SURE YOU ARE TURNING ANTI-CLOCKWISE BECAUSE ITS A REVERSE THREAD SENSOR, SORRY FOR THE INCONVENIENCE**

10:34 when you pull the wrench, it’s anti clockwise and that loosens the nut.

Great video! How's your interior panels doing? I have a 2007 IS350 and the dash and door panels are brutal. All cracked up and sort of mushy. The rest of the car is mint though, with only 158k on it. Super disappointed with the interior panels though.
I'm here because I have a P0172 AND p0175 (system too rich bank1 and bank2) error codes. Going to check out the air intake and air filter and MAF sensor, for starters, but I suppose it could be a bad fuel pressure regulator. I'm in Waterloo ON.

@@gavintexidor4895 Mine was just an unseated MAF sensor. It wasn't fully plugged in. Simple as that. MAF sensor is super easy to access so you might want to just unplug it and plug it back in, for starters. I think they're cheap too, so you might want to just replace it if re-seating it doesn't fix it.

My 08 is250 had a U0105 code. Diagnosed as a fps shorting out. But at a $1900 repair quote, im reluctant. Thats a lot of money on a $9k car. And what im curious about and cant find anyone talking much about, is the fact that there was a recall on this exact part. It was due to the gasket malfunctioning and allowing fuel to leak, but what are the chances?? And has ANYBODY with this issue had the recall repaired previously??
There is also a TSB regarding the battery ground and replacingthe bolt to this. It also causes a no crank, no start. Makes sense - computers may not have the necessary voltage to operate correctly. And could be intermittent too. Im very unfamiliar with automotive electrical so im just using common sense. Just looking for a bit more proof that this is ny issue before i tackle a big job like this. And wondering if the aftermarket part is working for the ones that went that route.
Its all about the followup if needed🙂

    • @lexuskid98

It's most likely this sensor it's the most common thing to go it seems like by my extensive research for these cars but definitely check everything and I named some symptoms in some of my other comments but to name a few is stalling while driving, poor acceleration kinda like you got your foot 75% down on the pedal but you only feel like 20% of power actually being applied to the road if that makes any sense and just no start but crank and the biggest one you will not get any codes for this not one(At least I didnt get any codes pertaining to the fuel sensor) and your OBD2 port wont work for a scan tool so to be honest if that happens it's the sensor

  • @aabikrman

I think I may need to replace the fuel pressure sensor on my '07 IS350. The battery died and after replacing the battery, the car will start momentarily for just a second or two and then die but it will only start once. After the car has died, the car will not even crank as if the immobilser system (security system) is preventing a start. I can disconnect the battery and replicate this over and over.
I also have an OBDII reader and using the app called Torque I have a "no communication" with the car's ecu. I've tried repairing the key fobs as described in the car's owner's manual as well as finding the similar procedure online and that has absolutely no effect on the car not cranking let alone starting which is why I think it's not the security system that's preventing a start. It's my understanding that the FPS (fuel pressure sensor) being faulty shuts down communication to the PCM/ECU and puts the car into a no-start mode as protection which is possibly the reason why my car will not even crank over unless I completely disconnect the battery which resets the ECU.
There's another TH-cam video ( th-cam.com/video/eENs3jHUr2o/w-d-xo.html ) I found that briefly describes this condition and the apparent remedy is to replace the FPS.
Once your car is operational again, can you provide a follow-up video ? None of the videos I've found have a very good description of the issue that led to the fuel pressure sensor replacement nor diagnostic check. The previously mentioned TH-cam video doesn't provide a very good description of the diagnostic check that confirms the FPS. I'd rather not randomly start replacing parts on my car but I'm thinking the FPS sensor failed after being subjected to a low voltage condition of the dead battery.
My car is currently stranded in a very inaccessible location about 220 miles from the nearest Lexus or Toyota dealer so a tow is not going to happen if I can avoid it. Thanks for the video and supplying the part numbers ! I'm also more of a visual learner and you did an outstanding job of showing the fastener locations and sequential part removals. Even though I have a different engine the architectural design of the intake and location of the FPS on an the 350 engine is very similar to the 250. Here's a pdf that describes the FPS washer replacement (subject of a recall) static.nhtsa.gov/odi/rcl/2014/RCRIT-14V647-1275.pdf that seals the FPS but your visual description is much, much, better than trying to read and comprehend the pdf......
BTW, proper terminology regarding the threads on the FPS is it's a standard right-hand thread sensor which conforms to the "righty-tighty, lefty-loosey" saying. Think in terms of standing right behind the threaded hole the sensor threads into, it's not oriented front of the car, rear of the car, etc but as if you are directly facing the tapped hole of any fastener. Very few fasteners on any vehicle are left-hand threaded and the ones that are left hand threaded are found on parts that rotate anti-clockwise such as drivetrain parts because it helps prevent the fastener from loosening as the part rotates...... Hope that helps....! Excellent job in your video, please keep up the good work !

@Guitarpenter335 Im pretty sure i said somewhere but usually you get really poor acceleration when driving, in some cases your car will actually stall, you get hard starts when trying to start the car and im pretty sure thats when you can tell when the car is struggling to start and when its bad enough the car wont start at all thats the mechanical side of it usually and for electrical you wont be able to pull codes from your ECM(Engine Computer) usually i wasnt able too but some people have gotten codes so it depends, also your check engine light will be on(usually is lol) and if you are able to disconnet the sensor connector and start the car and it cranks and starts and runs for a minute then cuts off or even if it just cranks then thats another way to tell your Fuel pressure sensor is done. Theirs more but thats just what i experienced and saw myself. Hope this helps.

@@franksilva1779 I would definitely say that this sensor would be the culprit or part of the reason it doesn’t stay running because that’s what usually happens. You will sometimes get a code for it (sadly i don’t know the code number) and you can check it but a lot of the times people like myself try to use the OBD2 and it won’t connect because that sensor trips a connection of 5v of some sort and makes the car stutter and not stay running. Their is a video on a guy diagnosing the sensor. It’s on a ES350 but same concept non the less. Sorry for the late reply hopefully all works out.

My car does this exact thing, but the check engine light is on. Is due to the fuel pressure sensor? (it is a lexus is 250 year 2012)

@jimena Sandoval You might be lucky and your car is telling you that it’s the sensor I would definitely get it scanned as soon as possible if you haven’t already and see First

    • @lexuskid98
      @lexuskid98  2 ปีที่แล้ว

Hopefully you got it fixed or something figured out but definitely check out this sensor for being one of your problems and the rotten eggs sometimes that smell happens when your catalytic converters are going bad usually. That can also cause your car to hesitate when accelerating if it’s bad enough because it’s choking the engine of air and doesn’t have enough back pressure to keep the engine running
