- Time for a Plants Vs. Zombies tier list! Many people in the PvZ community have made numerous tier lists to rank the plants from Plants Vs. Zombies, but I never found myself agreeing with many of them. In this video I'll be doing my own Tier list with explanations on the strengths & weaknesses of the plants!
Some tools/cheats were used for the sole purpose of speeding up recording & focusing on the game, such as level selector and auto pickup for Sun & coins so it's easier to focus on the game and less distracting.

Let's be real here,
As terrible as it might be in actual gameplay,
Peashooter will forever be the mascot of the PvZ series.
Is a starter plant what the hell do u expect???????
Peashooter is a fine plant, but is a great starter to introduce you to the world of PvZ. It's simple to understand, good price (not too cheap but not too expensive so you can't just spam it without consequences), do okay damage in early game. It is flawed, but that flaw is the reason why other plants existed in the first place.

Pea shooter is basically the crowbar or the USP of Half Life. Basically iconic looking and a decent starting weapon but you must be suicidal to use exclusively it in later levels
I think the main disadvantage of Garlic is that we get it too late. Perhaps if some plant in the Fog (Pumpkin for example) was swapped with Garlic, people would've used it more.
Fog would have been perfect for garlic. Could have easily combined it with starfruit for some interesting strategies at that stage of the game and more people would have seen the value in both.

Underrated plant. It can be really good for emergencies or stopping the zombies from getting to vunerable areas.

Wait some people trash garlic? As someone who loved gloomwalk, this is a surprise to me. I know there are some enemies it doesn’t work against, but it’s still incredibly useful if you support it properly.
I remember playing Pvz and unironically loving Garlic. I used the Garlic to divert everything to Lanes 2 and 4 so that I can plant marigolds in Lanes 1, 3, and 5 to farm coins lol
Late but the main reason why people trash garlic is because of pvz 2 mainly due to its health being nerfed to obvilion and it’s slower recharge and more zombies able to destroy it and i mean more almost every world will have atleast two or three zombies that ignore it as well as its not even great in itself homeworld ntm mainly due to the amount of zombies in that world that ignore it

Peashooter, Chomper, and Cactus got their justice in Garden Warfare, which is just another reason why I love that series

Garden Warfare and Garden Warfare 2 are goated games. Both are absolutely fun, especially in multiplayer in my opinion

Weeeeelllllll, almost. Chomper is actually my main plant in that game, even though it is the worst plant. Chompers seem strong because they can delete someone instantly, but in reality that just ends with them dying every time they actually get a kill. The best games I've had with chompers are the ones where I used the giant loogie ability to take down lower hp foes and basically steal kills.

The only time hypno shroom is ever good is in pvz plus, because it is the only way to effectively kill football zombies
Lets be honest here, despite the Peashooter being arguably shit, It still has a place in our hearts

@@mihaitavraciu2248 Actually, a peashooter can usually kill a conehead by itself if it’s on the far left or one lane to the right of that.
Chomper is AMAZING in speedruns, it has fast recharge and can even eat zombonis. Despite it being slow to chew it's still a spammable 1 shotter, which is why it's good for speedruns cause it can take zombies out quick. Usually they'll just shovel a chewing chomper and place another one down, high skill use plant

How I feel some of these plants should be rebalanced:
*Cactus*
-allow projectiles to pierce multiple zombies like in pvz2
-zombies eating it will take damage.
*Chomper*
-chew time decreased to 10 seconds
*for anything < buckethead (or something)
25 seconds. 10 is WAY too little.

Blover only counters balloon zombies but not normal zombies.
@@_.zxc._ yes but blover you only have to place once for every balloon meanwhile cactus you need multiple unless its adventure and there aren't a lot and thus you only see 3 balloons and if that's the case you use less sun by using blovers
@@Quilquala 3 balloon zombies? in no sunflower challenge at 4-4 and 4-9, i lost all of my lawnmowers and pool cleaner because of the number of balloon zombies and they are not three.

@@triciafradrick708 The Almanac isn’t very accurate. Sure, it shows the raw stats and their weakness and strengths, but most zombies are so unique that they can’t just be compared with some simple stats. A tier list is a good idea.
Zombonis and Football Zombies are the worst followed by Jack and Giga zombies
For me in Survival Endless. Jack and zombonis are the most pain in the ass, followed by giga, football. The rest are basics

Very Annoying : Jack-in-the-boxes
Annoying: Zombonis
Slightly Annoying : Giga Gargs
Slightly Less Annoying: Footballs
Easy : Everything Else not mentioned.

As someone who hasn’t played plants vs zombies since like 2016 on my iPad, this is very interesting to see how the community sees all the plants
Winter-melon and cattails will forever be my favorite plants. Using them both in pool levels is so freaking satisfying.
Casuals: Garlic is the worst in the game. It literally doesn't do anything.
Garlic: *Laughs in META*
Garlic is kinda bad in day, Night, and Roof, but it's very good in Pool and Fog.
I still don't like it as much as Fume-Shroom or Melon-Pult, though. It has a limited amount of uses.
@@mparagames it still works fine in day, night, and roof. In fact, all you need is 3 garlic and a gloom shroom to kill basically every enemy in day, night, or roof.

I use Garlic with the spikeweed and gloom shroom Strategy. For me, it's very useful. But again this is his opinion so why would I judge?

I didn't thought i would like to see a tier list video without voice and only text, but i loved it.
Here's a quick question to ask yourself if you doubt the list:
If you have every plant unlocked and you play a random level from any gamemode, which plant would you most likely choose?
Trust me, if you have every plant you would never use hypno shroom or cactus by choice.
And this tier list considers all modes, so starfruit is really good because it excels at most even if it really struggles in survival hard/endless.
it's still really good in survival hard, it just needs extra support

@swe872 cherry bomb is quite literally you're everyday insta with a decent cost , charge and radius. It can be useful throughout the whole game during tight situations and is extremely reliable. You can't really go wrong with cherry bomb

I think I’m one of the only people out there who mainly used Cactus in fog for balloon zombies cause to me it was the perfect “they do damage and no balloons get through” type of plant. Basically there was no room for accidental carelessness since I didn’t need to think about balloon zombies anymore.
Thus I always used to think Blovers were useless back then lol.

I do think scaredy shroom is just a tad underrated here.
Its basically just a full map range puff shroom. For 25 sun each you can spam just that little bit much better - while leaving your expendable puff shrooms to do what they were gonna do anyway and keep threats away from the backlines.
But if you're using scaredy-shrooms anyways why not just use puff-shrooms?

Star fruit was always my favorite, didn’t know it got hate. I just slapped a bunch of them down, waited for sun, and got even stronger plants and together it whooped anything. Seriously powerful plant, deceptively strong in fact.
You probably could have tierd Blowver, just comparing its overall effectiveness at it's job compared to Cactus and cattail. In endless survival I often have Cattail at the start, and then much much deeper in after I've replaced them with Corn I tend to start bringing Blowvers along for when things get chaotic with balloon zombies
I dont know why sm people think it’s useless, its very useful imo. Kills ALL balloon zombies on screen and gets rid of ALL the fog. Cactus may get rid of Balloon’s ability, but it won’t insta-kill like the Blover does. Plantern can light up a small area of fog, but Blover clears all of the fog
You can use a blover every 2 waves of balloons if it’s flag 10 or more
As a Kid, spamming the whole map with threepeater and Torchwood was an Ultimate Defense for me.

outside of kernel being in C I agree with everything. Kernel is better in my eyes though since it pairs really well with snow plants and spike rocks. Sure it’s inconsistent but 1 row of snow plants and then like 2-3 rows of kernels and nothing is getting past
Yeah kernel is really good paired with slow plants because it gets more chances to butter. Also I find its low damage not too bad, like it can still handle most enemies a peashooter can, for the same cost. I generally consider kernel-pult a cabbage-pult with stun
I'm seeing alot of people here saying that cabbage pult does twice the damage as peashooter and therefor it should be much higher, completely forgetting that cabbage pult shoots slower so peashooter and cabbage pult have the same dps.

Yeah, first time I tried it I immediately noticed that this Cabbage-Pult shoots hella slower than Peashooter but only took 5 hits to kill a regular zombie instead of 10
hey man like he says kernel pult is early game item but you get it late game
So cabbage pult does twice the damage with half the attack speed. Peashooter is statistically better on non roof levels as torchwood exists

When tangle kelp is still reloading , ice peashooter is the best at dealing dolphins , heck it saved me before the dolphin zombie got near my sunflowers

I agree, the Melon-Pult’s very good, easily one of my fav plants in the game.
There’s, in my opinion, nothing more annoying than seeing a Bungee zombie steal my Melon-Pult because I forget to use Umbrella Leaves.
This tier list aged so well. Starfruit has just been discovered to be the recipe for fastest runs in 5-2 and 5-3.
SSS tier: the lawn mower. This single use item can wipe out a whole wave of zombies and any zombie unfortunate to enter its path of destruction. Excluding the final boss, nothing is safe from this item.

I really like the starfish plant but the only flaw for me is that in the mobile version of pvz the starfish has weird hitbox where it goes past a zombie and only hits them when they’re past the tile which is weird because back then it didn’t have fhis issue
i've only just discovered this channel, but this video's tierlist matches mine almost perfectly, and i had the controversial pick in common as well, and puff shroom is my second highest ranked plant in the game

@@Ikine557You get Melon Pult in the second to last level in the game, so you can't really make use of it in adventure 1
@@Ikine557snow pea doesn't have splash damage. You just need 25 or 1 extra sun to plant it(winter melon=200, snow pea=175) which has splash and saves space. But yeah, snow pea is a great alternative if you still don't have one
so glad we agree on what the best plant is. actually now that i think of it i placed winter melon at 2 also. you have good taste

You forgot to mention how useful garlic is in ZomBotany 2. It basically frees 3 lines in which you can spam sunflowers and focus all your defence in the other 3 lines.

According to her, kernel pult is a really strong plant because of its usefulness in stunning zombies. And my personal favs were scaredy shroom and cabbage pult.

PvZ 2 balance team: Puffshroom was broken in the last game, we have to nerf it. Let's make it dissappear after some time.
Also PvZ 2 balance team: let's allow puffshroom to be planted in any level, and it's always awake

Also pvz 2 balance team: lets make 80% of all the good plants paid and only havind the bad ones for free

Whenever I can't beat a level, I just use a boosted Puff Shroom (or spikeweed) to easily beat the whole thing.

Yeah PvZ 2 just got uglier and uglier over the years with the levelable plants and money for unlocking half the plants + the price at the beginning for the plants was lower as i remember. Well, that's EA.

4:16 There is a Zombotany 1 strat that uses Threepeater to the fullest. Sunflowers with garlic on outer ones, then threepeaters in the middle with garlics. Spike weed in the two empty lanes.
The utter terribleness of the cactus is probably the worst design decision in the game. Couldnt it at least hurt things that eat it?

@@aisyahaifa8747 Try level 3-4. or any pool level. Puff-shrooms are useless in day/pool because they need coffee bean, making them cost sun. On roof levels the puff-shroom would have to be placed in the front rows, or the puff would hit the roof.
@@zerotwoisreal and you havent mention that sometimes they are not for offensive but for defensive. Fast recharge rate and no sun cost makes the most out of him of course. Even in roof stages he can still be good for defensive but not as begining because the flower pot limitation, still you can already imagine a tough defends when planting 5 or 6 rows of them

My main defenses as a kid were Gatling Pea-Torchwood-Tall-nut-Pumpkin spam or just Cattail spam.
It's crazy to see so many plants not only succeed those, but blow them out of the water as an adult.

@@WiloPolis03 I mean, don't get me wrong, it's incredibly fun, but not incredibly practical. Most other insta kill plants can do better. Sure, hypnotizing a disco may be able to theoretically clear crowds at a cheaper cost than say a doom shroom or a cherry bomb, but the incredibly long recharge of the hypno shroom comboed with how inconsistent it is, given you have to plant it right in front of the disco zombie and get a coffee bean to go off on it without it being killed, and hope that no other zombies are also eating it that could become hypnotized. That's not even mentioning that it requires you to have not damaged the disco much, and that disco is a fairly uncommon zombie.

I honestly love how starfruit is ranked so high on the list! Im not joking when I say that today on my xbox I beat bobsled bonaza because of starfruit and melon pult. great video tho!
Starfruit is very good for sure. His explanation for why Starfruit is high also makes a lot of sense. In fact I would say him putting Starfruit that high isn’t controversial at all. His actual most controversial plant should be Puff Shroom as best plant. He only gives one good explanation that gives it S+ qualities which is it is op at night. But for everywhere else his explanation is extremely questionable. It can stall? Like that’s it? And he literally doesn’t further explain and then literally goes on about pvz2. If he’s willing to use that argument to make Puff Shroom as best then he should automatically put the 25 fast recharge plants at like A because they do the same thing while being a bit more expensive but he doesn’t. Puff Shroom is absolutely not the best plant unless we pretend like night and fog is the only thing that exists. It’s very good but definitely not best.
im gonna be real here; during my 2nd playthrough of story mode, i'd either spam cabbage pult or starfruit, and it got me through the levels surprisingly fast

To be honest, Jalapeno is not bad at all clearing a SINGLE lane, also in adventure there are no so much spam in a single lane so its only usefull clearing zomboni and bobsleigh zombies, dealing damage to gargatuan is nice to because it can kill the imp too, but apart from that, clear like 3 or 4 zombies while cherry bomb even with his slow recharge can explode a big group of zombies.
Cactus is so useless that I only used it as a replacement for Peashooter because I just want to. Even if there are Balloon Zombies in those levels, I still use Blover just to spite Cactus. It's design is the only thing I like about it, and it looks funny when it stretches. Those are the only reasons I replaced Peashooter with Cactus. It's pretty much just a new skin for Peashooter with a little buff.
There's literally an achievement in the DS port where you have to beat a night level without collecting any sun. They knew all about Puff-Shroom spam, at least afterwards.

Good Morning: Complete a Day level with only Mushrooms and Coffee Beans.
No Fungus Among Us: Complete a Night level without any kind of Mushrooms.
Pool's Closed: Complete a Pool level without any water plants.
Don't Pea in the Pool: Complete a Pool level without any kind of Peashooters.
Blind Faith: Complete a Fog level without Planterns or Blovers.
Grounded: Complete a Roof level without any Catapult plants.
Wall-Not Attack: Complete Zombotany without Walnuts, Tall-nuts, or Pumpkins.
Chili Free: Complete Column Like You See Em without Jalapenos.
Sproing Sproing: Complete Pogo Party without Tall-nuts or Magnet-Shrooms.
