Sounds like people are very into a stress test of the Potato Jet Tripod...when I wrap my current project in the new year, I might just have to take it down to the beach and beat it up a little! Stay tuned! Let me know your creative ideas for how to really put it to the test!

A few things that I've 3D printed for my rig in the last couple months: Cable clibs for managing excess wires on the back of my monitor, Custom 15mm rods, a mic holder, my own diy Sprigs (which are worse than the real ones), and some handgrips for some small cameras. Once you get started, it get's pretty addictive.

    • @Giovanni-Giorgio
      @Giovanni-Giorgio หลายเดือนก่อน

Wait, you 3d printed your rods? With what material? Better be strong before your rig breaks in half and kisses the floor.

Honestly surprised to see how little views this has with how much valuable insight you put into this! I'd mess around with the title and thumbnail a bit, FD Signifier does that a lot and has talked about that getting new waves of traction on his material.
Genuinely think this is one of your best recently, partially because of your insight and a look into your doubts and willingness to be proven wrong. It was helpful to see what you prioritize fundamentally and how these tools have shifted your perspective.

A couple years ago, I took a dead NP battery, (carefully !! )cut the the NP battery plate off so I had the battery mount plate, then glued a peice of thick flat plastic to the open side, on went velcro and done, and the battery part worked as a tx holder like you did. very surprised no one has made this already.

Important note about the spotlight attachments: Make sure you get the same brand as the lights you plan on using. They are all Bowens mount, but the depth differs, so some lights do not fit on other spotlights. And even if they did, they wouldn't work very well optically.

Nice to see the Llano charger / cases getting some love. I ran into them about a year ago when dealing with a Sony ZV-e10 as a cheap cam for students. Can't get the battery bank version shipped here but paired with a battery bank... 3 batteries with 2 charging in the case makes for a decent all day solution if you aren't shooting continuously. Just have to watch the heat if they inside a pack.

I had a rough experience with Audiio this week. They renewed me for a second year without warning (no email, no nothing) and then refused to refund me when I asked them to cancel it. What's worse is that I *tried* to cancel before the renewal date. Not only do they not provide any way to cancel on the website (they require a written request via email) but they don't say how to do it on the account page where the payment info is. I looked for a way to cancel for ten minutes before giving up, now I'm arguing with support about their refusal to cancel my membership and refund me.
While not *technically* illegal, I refuse to do business with companies that use this kind of entrapment.
Love your content. Wish I could say the same about your sponsor.

Ellipsoidal (spot) lights use different barrels to change the beam angle. Barrels are expensive.
It turns out that if you open the barrel up, they are all the same. Two lenses and two barrel halves.
If you look at the barrel casting you will find different indents for holding the lenses.
To change the beam angle, you just choose the two correct indents.
Both of my barrels have nicely labeled them.
Just a FYI for a budget filmmaker who does not mind disassembling the barrel to change the beam angle.

I purchased my Breakthrough PL to L mount adapter from Graham himself at his NAB Booth, super cool guy and incredible build quality! The Mofage Poco adapter just sketched me out as no one's heard of them, so I was so really happy to see this alternate solution for "Internal ND's" for my S1H. Can't wait to test it on the Iron Glass I just ordered (although it's doesn't ship for a year).

I get you on the gimbals. Since I don't do cinematography, I do do some cell phone shooting so I have a gimbal. While I can say it's handy to own 1 as a camera person, and it can practice out some shots for social media and videography work I do, they don't vary enough to try every one. Especially when you're not even that kind of camera equipment reviewer

Underrated monitoring trick. Bring an iPad. Super bright screen, connects right to Hollyland transmitters. You can import LUTS. Just about the same feature set. I bring an iPad mini on set with me I got for $350 that I put in a cage with a handle and give to clients so they can bring it around and watch with a rec conversion lut over top.

Love all the stuff, except for the llano thing. Had a few of them to review for Amazon, and the Llano charger+battery is extremely bulky for the low amount of power it has. I rather take the smaller llano dual charger and different 30,000 mah+ power packs that are the same size or even smaller compared to the 10,000mah the llano is. Sadly my review unit they sent with the battery actually is completely DOA just 3 weeks after receiving it and they still haven't contacted back about replacing it (been about 2 1/2 months now). The Llano dual charger though has been amazing. I have the fz-100, lp-e6, and Lp-e17 versions and they all work great and charge extremely well.

All this gear looks cool and useful, but it is way too advanced for my level, but still, it makes me "dream ...like...one day I will justify it" Now. a "bad" suggestion. You could say yes to all the gimbals and stuff you do not really need nor use for your pro level work, BUT still, you could do a honest review of those items, like the ones you do where you talk about several items....and then give them away. Would this suggestion "waste" you time ? Yes. Do you need it to grow your audience? No. So, why use your valuable time on it? For the younger you. You, when you started on your videographer path. I bet, we are many "wanna be you one day" watching your videos. I am sure, you would make some people happy. Cheers
