thanks Mato, im from Brazil. I love your videos and just watched this one before sleep... going to sleep with a beautiful piece of art like this makes me happy.
I wish I could play chess with you and be your neighbor man. You would get sick of me but man you had me laughing my ass off on this one. Merry Christmas
I would like for you to do a few videos of Mir Sultan Khan, if you get around to it. I know he and Capablanca had a great game but I would like hear your thoughts on his playing style as only you can break things down. And keep it fun. Keep up the great work Mato.. No rush. Whenever you move on, it's all good.. I'll keep watching
this game is good having said that no-one can't play like Mikhail tal I have became his devotee please mato share more games of tal because I wanna see sacrifices of pices like queen and knights which made him best attacking player
I dare say the Soviet championship of chess equaled , if not surpassed the world championship of chess. The world competition distilled two finalists from among thousands of players where the Soviet championship produced two finalists from among millions. Not just two finalists : two legends.
Only a little top grandmaster can arrange the opening game widely open like Keres I hope there are stock game between Paul Keres and Botwinnik when Keres play black and won the game
+MatoJelic to be fair, maybe he meant if you intend to do a montage or series on a new player.......... which is still a silly question, as it's nice to be surprised ;-)
So far, out of all Mato's Keres videos, Paul Keres has lost one game, to the legendary Bobby fischer. Seriously, it's shocking to know Keres didn't win a championship
Probably, one of the most devastatingly quick losses of Botvinnik's career. Of course Botvinnik had a big plus over Paul overall, let's not forget that, but in 1948 world championship tournament, Paul keres was probably forced to lose To Botvinnik, because the communist Russia at that time wanted a Russian born champion to prove that superiority of communism over capitalism and keres was Estonian and and during World War II he played in a few nazi-occupied tournaments to make a living and the Soviets never forgot that and punished him in the world championship tournament, that is the accusation that cannot be proven but it's very possible how else can you describe Paul losing so badly to him in that tournament? One in 19 moves, which they played I believe five games he lost three and only won one game after the tournament winner was already decided to be botvinnik!!! You guys knew that? Mato, I am sure knows that.
Still Botvinnik leads their head to head 8-3 with 9 draws... he humiliated Keres multiple times, like the 22-move victory or 4-1 in 1948 AVRO.. too bad Mato is biased and won't show any of those games
+Uroš Marinković Keres was not allowed to beat Botvinik. You don't know about these things. Search it online. Ask google: why Keres was not allowed to beat top soviet players. Soviet Union certainly played a role in keeping him from reaching the very top. Now do your research and then speak.
+MatoJelic Mato, let me add my 2 Cents. Google doesnt know everything. With sItuation about Keres is the same as with Aljechin (I use my native transcription of Alekhine). During World War II and after everything was complicated. We will never find out what truly happened to either of them. Human mind is a priori spaculative. But I do know not to lower the level of your narration and channel by speculations and such. I always watch your videos through a prism of competitive sportsmanship, not politics. Lets stick to it. What would you say?
+MatoJelic I've read about that but to be quite honest I don't actually believe that's the way it goes... seeing other results from that tournament I think Botvinnik was the strongest of all 5 players and deservedly won, don't you agree? After all he held his title for a long time
Keres played like a computer. If you check his moves with a computer, you can see that most of the times he does the same moves that the StockFish would do in those positions.
+Dmitriy Moroz Perhaps we could propose that Alekhin was the founder of the Russian chess school but Botvinnik was the founder of the Soviet school. Of course Alekhin hated USSR so he could not has been part of the Soviet chess establishment.
"What is a king like me doing in a position like this? Where are my horses? Where are my chariots?" - the tale of Botvinnik's king!
I love this game. Keres makes it look so easy. What a great master!
thanks Mato, im from Brazil. I love your videos and just watched this one before sleep... going to sleep with a beautiful piece of art like this makes me happy.
Ive seen 15 keres games now I think but this is my favorite, simply the first queen move is very instructive!
Mato ti si najbolji! You are truly a gifted commentator! I like your unique style!
Excellent game as always! Thank you for the excellent narration of these excellent games; I (and many more) learn a lot from these videos!
I wish I could play chess with you and be your neighbor man. You would get sick of me but man you had me laughing my ass off on this one. Merry Christmas
Paul Keres is an amazing chess player. more than his games i enjoy your commentary , ur commentary is equally good
More Keres games please Mato. I learn more from Keres!
thank you Mato!!amazing video as ussual
Incredible !!! What a vicious attack....
What a devastating game by Keres..Destroying the future world champion in the initial phase of the game itself..He was a ALL TIME GREAT.
Zaista Keres je bio velikan i od svih šahista mi je najoomiljeniji njegov stil napada zaista je bio neodbranjiv.
Keres is a BEAST!
Both were extraordinary chess players. I love those times where players played with their own brain and knowledge, without computers.
Right before I went to sleep. Thanks Mato.
Saw this vid in my subscriptions feed right before i went to sleep. Great vid Mato!
Please more Keres games mato, he's my favourite from all your videos.

Like NBA in basketball
Mato, was 13. Ne5+ better? Immediately recapturing the pawn seems to lose a lot of momentum.
3:26 am i the only one who loves mato's presentation This much???
Great game. However, I have to ask one question. Doesn't bishops of opposite color usually draw?
Exciting game!
Only a little top grandmaster can arrange the opening game widely open like Keres
I hope there are stock game between Paul Keres and Botwinnik when Keres play black and won the game
At 3:00 I would probably play Bxd5 Because if Nxb3 than simply Bxb3, and material equal :) What do you think?
Mato, just finished up with Winter Jam 2016 Augusta, Ga. Your fellow Aussies "4 King &Country" finished it off! Woot woot!!!!!
About to go to bed then I saw this video I was like "what?". Thanks Mato.
Thanks Mato.

+J Pasieka i havn't seen Mikhail Botvinnik befor, but it may be a troy mcclure sorta deal
+J Pasieka No
+J Pasieka All Keres ALL THE TIME!!!! :'-)
+J Pasieka Who Keres? It's interesting games, watch them, not the player.
+MatoJelic to be fair, maybe he meant if you intend to do a montage or series on a new player.......... which is still a silly question, as it's nice to be surprised ;-)
and his name is Paul Keres :D
what a game indeed.

+MatoJelic sure why not lm a big fan of Tal win or lose its ok. Can you upload the video please Mato thank you.
+Aguilar Archie OK. I don't promise anything-I will see what can I do
sir mato keres ,tarash, bronestein ,tal are the best attackers do u agree?
+Steven yes sir steven nazhmetdinov is tal's trainer who helped him to win against botvinik and take 1960 championchip great players they are
+Steven mr. steven i have problem in develping my chess tactic my blitz rating is 1020 can u advice me at some points
So far, out of all Mato's Keres videos,
Paul Keres has lost one game, to the legendary Bobby fischer. Seriously, it's shocking to know Keres didn't win a championship
He later defeated Robert Fishcher too.
Keres already crushed this very strong opponent in the first 12 moves...
Wow, if Keres beats botvinnik like that imagine what he can do to Tal. Good game.
Paul Keres defeated Mihail Tal.
Bloodbath and Beyond no. He did not
it's because keres is not allowed to beat soviet players especially in championships.
OMG... Keres slapped Botvinnik in this game so badly...
Keres, Nezhmetdinov and Alekhine are the greatest players of all time in my opinion.
The founder of the... Russian? (sovietic!) school of chess was Capablanca.
Very dramatic presentation
Amazing Keres never won the world championship, shame that is.
He is though, in my opinion, one of the three best players not to have done so; along with Rubinstein and Korchnoi.
😢 destroying Botvinick's French in 12 moves is something

this game is scared me

Keres played like a computer. If you check his moves with a computer, you can see that most of the times he does the same moves that the StockFish would do in those positions.
you probably mean Soviet, not Russian.
Keres kicked botvinniks ass lol
Is Paul Keres a founder of Russian chess school? Definitely he is GM, but he is not the founder of Russian chess school. Shurely that it was Alekhin !
+Dmitriy Moroz it was the great Botvinnik.
+Dmitriy Moroz Perhaps we could propose that Alekhin was the founder of the Russian chess school but Botvinnik was the founder of the Soviet school. Of course Alekhin hated USSR so he could not has been part of the Soviet chess establishment.
First!
botvinik is an average player and Keres was much better than him
discouniverse Botvinik average? Are you drunk? I love Keres the most myself but please don't post idiotic comments like this one.
Max Payne you are idiotic not my comments
