Appreciate that Tim because some U-Tubers don't show the unproductive days. But we all know that the sun doesn't shine everyday too. Keep up the good attitude and be safe down in the tunnels.

Tim, I got into trouble at my 1st job in an autobody shop. I sharpened some chisels on both sides. I got in trouble for ruining the chisels. I sharpened both sides of the cutting edge, but found out that you are only supposed to sharpen one side of edge, to keep the temper. By sharpening all sides, you remove the temper, and soften the metal, which makes the chisel dull very fast.

Tim is sharpening a pick, not a chisel. The main reason for only sharpening the bevel side on a chisel is to keep a flat plane on the other side.

@@memberHD Pick/chisel basically the same thing, and concept. The reason to only sharpen one side, is to keep the temper. Have to keep one side hard, if you sharpen all round, the metal becomes soft, and dulls, very, very fast. That is why they temper them. Same thing with a knife.
I also had a very expensive pair of ice skates ruined because my friend took them to a key shop to get sharpened, instead of the specialists at the arena. They key man, took out the temper by incorrectly sharpening my skate blades. After that the blades could not keep an edge, and in a couple of minutes I was falling on the ice. I had to immediately buy new skates, or I would not of been able to play hockey.

@@jameswelch1054 Pick is a point, chisel is an edge.
Either way, the entire tip is tempered. As long as you don't get it too hot, it will keep it's temper. Also you can't sharpen a point without sharpening all sides, you can only do this on a flat chisel.

Hi Tim, love your videos, was wondering if you had a specific video that explained what sapphires go for"?" I had one more ? about your white dish that you put the sapphires in that you weigh out after you've sorted and picked out the best ones was curious what they use the sapphires for that really have no gem value, and if they pay well? Tried looking at your past videos and you have so many in there, that I don't have the time to go through them all. I'm a new subscriber so please forgive my ignorance, this is all new to me. I love your channel, I try to watch two full videos of yours a day. :)
