Previously I had an Apple Watch as my day to day watch. However, I was interested in sleep tracking and the battery life on the Apple Watch was barely a day so wearing it overnight was not an option. So I wore a Huawei fitness band on my other wrist. This had a battery life of about a week and did all the fitness tracking etc. When I saw the GT2 I realised I could combine the two and have a watch which looks really good, does all the tracking I need, has an excellent battery life and is easy to use. The tradeoff is that I cant use all the custom apps on my watch but I have to admit that despite having hundreds of apps on my Apple Watch I actually didnt use any of them - I am blessed with sausage fingers that make any clicking of icons on my watch a real hit and miss affair. I love the GT2 - it has all the workouts I need and more besides, with the 2 physical buttons its easy to start and stop the workout tracking and the display shows me the workout tracking data as I am exercising. I turned off the voice which announced to the gym that I had done 10 minutes of workout and that my heart rate was running at xxx but thats just a personal preference. My Apple Watch hasnt left the charger now for nearly a month and will shortly be appearing on ebay.
Still using my Huawei watch 1, which must be over 3 years old now. Still works too. Looking for an upgrade which can do pretty much all the same things and this might be it!?
Hey, great review. I've got 3 questions though: 1. Does it work with iOS? 2. Can you "respond" to whatsapp notifications from the watch face without having to pull out your phone? 3. Can you read full emails on the watch? Thanks in advance.
There i sa lot o rewievs of thi watch and in one of them it was said that the watch has internal storage for songs, you can control music directly on it or over bluetooth you can control your phones music app, youtube and spotify, just watch a few more rewievs and collect more info
I use gps sparingly as I know my way around mostly. I get 2 weeks consistently. Bravo. The 1 to 2 day battery life for most smart watches cannot compare
Have to say I really do like the look of this watch, however I currently use a Samsung Gear S3. What I 'think' is missing from the Huawei watch but I hope you're about to correct me is the following: On the Samsung as well as tracking the standard fitness activities it also allows me to enter a whole range of body building exercises and track calories burnt as a result of both those muscle based exercises as well as the usual steps and cardio, throughout the day in the accompanying Samsung Health app. This it then 'offsets' against my consumed calories when I enter all the food stuffs in the Samsung health app, giving me an accurate record of my consumed macros / nutrient breakdown each day and comparing it to my burnt calories, enabling me to truly manage my body building and increase or decrease either activities or food consumption to meet my goals. Sorry, long winded way of asking can the Huawei do this? Thanks for reading!
Seems like a huge improvement from the first generation (considering that one lagged around it's own interface...) but it still feels more like a fitness tracker with a round screen than an actual smartwatch - if it can't be used for payments and it can't be used to *reply* to notifications from things like whatsapp on the watch then it loses a lot of what you actually want a smartwatch to be able to do. That said, they'll probably end up giving this away for free with their phones like they did with the last one, and if this costs you nothing then it's pretty damn great!
Actually, yes. Bip has a long battery life but overall is a massive compromise in terms of functionality. You can't even create alarms on the watch, and even if you could, it would be useless because there's no speaker so all you have is vibrations. And if you think that's alright, well it isn't because each alarm will only vibrate for 5-10 seconds and if that doesn't wake you up, you're screwed.
Huawei Watch GT 2 is not even at a reasonable price and kind of limited in software. However, the device has a great long-lasting battery life and an awesome fitness tracking design.
It has nearly all you would want on a "watch", if you want apps on a vastly more powerful device than any smart watch, drag out your smart phone. Secondly I just picked the GT2 up for US$150 (in NZ converted back) which is an amazing price for what you get.
Are u able to upload gpx files and then to navigate them with the watch? I really don't find that.. And how to extract the gpx file from. The watch.. Are this 2 option available?!?
@@ZubiForce you get 3-5 days routinely without having to use Power Management though? I thought it was more like 1-3 on the Ticwatch Pro without power management.
So the Samsung Galaxy Watch is still the smartwatch to beat for battery life. 3 days on the 42mm and 4 days on the 46mm with no power management on. Third party apps are limited but it has Spotify, Google Maps and Notifications (the main use of a smartwatch), including reading/replying to messages. No WhatsApp is a pain, but in honesty the screen is to small to read old messages anyway.
Nice review. I'm a Garmin user. And I use the add on foot pod, bike Speed and Cadence sensor, HRM chest strap for better accuracy. No body has done a indepth test on the accuracy of running and biking (does it know your cadence?) Their is, a couple of chest straps you can pair up with it on the Health app by way of Bluetooth but nothing else. Maybe I'm going overboard. Again nice review. BTW I guess their one version GT2 will be a global version.

2 weeks battery life is what I have been waiting for in smart watches. 1 week would have been enough for me. Now I am interested. How long does it take to charge?
I have a bunch of huawei products including the free buds 2 pro, p8 phone, mate 9 and mate 10 and now the mate 20 pro(not mine my dad's 😅) I am using the mate 10,either way the battery life is usually consistent with similar battery life to when I first used this phone 2 years ago, huawei is really doing sonwthing
The Huawei Watch GT 2 is all about fitness tracking and long battery life. @The Tech Chap. This was your initial phrase and that's the reason why I love the watch. Don't miss at all replying to messages directly from it. Amazing review!!!!
My observation after 18 days & taking help from community to enable battery back up for 46mm 1) Good look 2) Good GPS tracking 3) light weight 4) A lot of users non-Huawie smartphones on Android complained /faced issues including me to install the Health app,( was not in sync with Play-store, we had to install Huawei gallery app, then HMS (Huawei core) app, then Health app). 5) I am facing the glitch in the Health App in Dark theme mode for couple of pages on One plus 6 mobile. 6) At present most of the features/compatible support China & Huawei smartphone as per the release notes. 7) Good assistance, though manually tracking. 8) With heart rate on & True sleep enabled ( Notification on for call /sms/whtatsapp), wake up on wrist on & always display off battery backup is for 4 days. with 40 min of fit tracking daily. While in the forum other people from other region have said for 10 days with same behavior. 9) See difference in count between Fitbit & this watch.( I would say it would be unfair on GT2 to compare this watch with Samsung or Fitbit, just presented an view) Hoping for regular updates..
for me its mainly notifications and time, with the addition of step and sleep tracking. that's why currently i use a Xiaomi Mi Band 4 - 20+ days of battery is quite nice while still retaining "high rez" color + touch display (yes only displays on use and is off otherwise, but still nice). will have a closer look at the GT2... though i probably would need to go with the 42mm model bc of slimmer wrists, which then would only give me 1 week of battery... still miss my Pebble Time Steel, with 10 days battery and the community for customization :/
Great video man! I was considering buying the version 1, but didn't liked that much! I just would like to know the connectivity with wireless earbuds and stuff like that.
Download the app health or Huawei Health in the Play Store/App Store/App Gallery Connect a Bluetooth GPS with mobile data, also can connect a meter, fat mass, Huawei Body Fat Chest strap Bluetooth measure heart rate
Does it come with email and text. can you put your own music on it or come with it's own music app don't care if it's doesn't have Spotify if it had it's own. Looks nice
It has internal storage for music, but to transfer music onto it you use bluetooth connection. You can controll your phones music app, youtube, spotify, basicaly if it plays vodeo or sound on your phone and its an app it can be controled on the watch
it literally makes no sense to have a SmartWatch with built-in GPS and no ability to play music directly from the watch. they either have to start adopting Spotify or some version of streaming.

It is so funny when everyone goes ga-ga over a smartwatch that lasts a week.... WHEN MY 3-YEAR-OLD PEBBLE TIME does the same thing for years and did have third party apps. But I guess the wheel needs to be invented over and over again.
Ok the watch was awesome, I have been thinking my next device would be a watch and go simple but im thinking sim card installed and no phone... but Glastonbury Tor that's awesome.
you can control (GT watch) your Spotify app music (from your phone) once it's paired with your GT watch. i tried it already. another thing is, you can transfer your music to the watch memory so you would have your own music even w/o your phone with you. you can play, control it and listen to it directly to watch since it has built-in speaker.
For my need s it is perfekt. Have used it for five days .
Nice price , almost half the price from other watches .
Brilliant device!
I highly recommend 👍
Huawei Health app can also be installed on iOS devices. So if you use an iPhone, you can also use this smart watch definitely.
Love this watch! Great real life test!

the two weeks battery Life is just great
I use fitness band because the battery life of fitness bands are incredible
Hybrid watch for me
Huawei is killing it
Is there anything different between the three 46mm styles other than aesthetics?
This smartwatch is like old 007 technology.
Still using my Huawei watch 1, which must be over 3 years old now. Still works too. Looking for an upgrade which can do pretty much all the same things and this might be it!?
Wireless charging? Looking at pogo pins, it's a physical connection.
Just bought this for P4500 or around $80 and its amazing.
The watch will let me know I’m experiencing insomnia then lol
Hi Tom. Nice video. 💕
Which mobile phone you using for video making plz

1/ yes , 2/ no 3/ I DONT KNOW , HAHA
Wonderful! More wearable tech reviews please~
I'm looking for a smart watch for fitness and general use. Lack of apps kills it for me, even if battery life is so good. I really would want Spotify.
and that's the reason it has such long battery life. No true usage outside of the normal "Fitbit" style of health tracking
@Wong Wei Quan I saw the video, it looks very intriguing, I'm hoping it's sold in the US

Could you compare it with samsung galaxy watch active 2?
Watch active 2 is much better but pricier. It is mainly better because of OS
@@mirohero5738it's been 6 months lol, anyway thanks for your reply

When will huawei watch gt3 come out?
Hi Tech Chap, how is the accuracy of the heart rate monitor and fitness tracking of the smart watch?
I just loved the place you shot the video..which place is that?
Amazing video. You always make really nice videos and really professional reviews. Thank you so much. 👍👍👍👍

Amazfit Bip: Am I a joke to you?
They have a new version of the old Bip out. Terrific stuff.

Does it less the week with AOD on?
Will it work with the likes of strava relive or trailforks?
what about the HR sensor ? is the same from the Watch GT? because that one for fitness wasn't so accurate
That watch is actually quite promising :)
What did you use in recording the videos outdoor?
i actually used a GoPro Herol 8!
Nice! Hero 8 definitely delivers!
Where can I buy Huawei watch GT-2 in Phnom Penh Cambodia an how much?
@techchamp which smartwatch do u wear on the other videos? It has brown leather band.
review the thinkpad x1 extreme

Will you please compare it with Amazfit stratos 3?
I love you 3000!

"everything what you need for fitness tracking"
gym workout tracking ? reps & sets ? I think that is absolutly "basic"
It tracks your heart rate while you work out. You do have to count the reps in your own head though
