I have one for about a month now and I'm very happy with it. Battery life is amazing. I use it only when I exercise and after a month I still have over 20% of battery power left.

Thank you for the review, really amazing. For me, my favorite features: 1. high-end looking; 2. phone call function; 3. music function; For exercise, as I have the mi-band I would prefer to use it as it is lighter, and will not be concerned to break it accidentally during the workout. However beside the functions of phone call and music, GT2 doesn't really have other features that are outstanding compared to nowadays fitness bands(which are more suitable for exercise cus of their lightness), and it compatibility with smartphones really forces you to buy a Huawei phone...
It actually works fine with any kind of phones; I have never used a Huawei phone as a primary one for more than a week and use the WatchGT2 with Oneplus and Mi devices without problems. Which is your favorite Mi Band?
I don't say this a lot, hardly ever in fact, but I really enjoyed your review. Clear, concise, coherent, courteous, credible and above all, creative. It has helped immensely in my understanding of this device. Much easier on the ears and eyes than the ubiquitous superficial American review, that is mainly about showing off camera angles, transitions etc. Cheers mate!
Gt1 - Smart watch on steroids. Well explained. My Gt1 last for 10days on full mode. Gt2 looks very elegant, premium n most of all… music storage! So envy of you having Gt2 n seeing you enjoyed it alot. Keep it up with the amazing review =)

This watch is awesome. I have been using it for over 6 months and im rly happy with it. Battery lasts for like 10-14 days with only one charge. Speakers and mic are awesome and u can hear clearly everything.
@@TechMishka yeah when I asked the sales guy in the store why so low priced and "what's the catch" he told me because their sales had been very low of late because of the pandemic. They had the GT2 and GT both for like 30% off as well as the smaller GT 2 models that look like they are sized for females. I'm glad I ran into the deal. 😊

I wish there was a smartwatch without the fitness apps at all. I don't care about the heart beat sensor either. I just want a smartwatch that has good capabilities regarding reading messages and weather, tons of customable faces, and several remote possibilities. Nowadays, every watch is heavily focused on fitness and there's no way to skip these apps if you don't use these.

You can set reminders and alarms, yeah. But if you want these reminders to be more specific - then better get a smartwatch with smarter OS - like TicWatch devices.
Going from pebble time to amazfit pace to huawei GT2 and this watch tick ALL of the boxes. And I was considering all options available for last 6 months.
I really like the health tracking on this watch with the batrery life. I don't mind that it is running Hauwei own OS but I just wish the notification centre was more like Wear OS or even Tizen. I also want smart features and although this can do phone calls on your wrist I need to reply to texts with my voice as well and need NFC. Those are two things I would miss from my Fossil Gen 5. But I really need health tracking... sigh... no perfect watch yet.
I was in the same shoes, having the Gen5, but eventually I made the switch to GT2. However for me it was an easier decision, cause the NFC was useless for me - GPay works fine on my phone, but Google decided to make it unavailable on the watch (only a few countries available, mine was not one of them). Voice typing was "kind of" useless, too as I had to reply in multiple languages (English, Czech, Hungarian), but could not have it set to multiple languages, like on my phone. Battery Life was "meh" at best (30 hours) and that's with almost everything turned off (except BT). Tough the quick charge function of the watch was amazing and worth mentioning - 0-90% in 43 minutes for me (not like the lousy, almost 3 hrs charge on the Galaxy Watch). To be honest, the only things I miss from WearOS are Google Keep (lists for shopping) and StoCard.
@@majorskies7091 it was and because people complained it should be enabled if you give it a firmware update. And you have to add your card to Google pay every card should work.
i suppose if i want a watch that lasts about 1 to 2 days, ill stick an elastic band around my phone to my wrist. but i think id rather a longer battery like this. lol

They were loaded from the smartphone app. If you are using iPhone, could be the case that you don't see all of them. Connect it to Android device and you will be able to use them.
Hey man! Thanks for the amazing review. Do you think it's worth 120$ now in 2021? I found it looks slick af. But my other question is if the scratches make the black steel look a bit awkward or is the paint deep enough to keep it looking fresh after a few years? Note: GT2 will still get Harmony OS according to the latest list they've released, and that also means it'll have third party app support and possibly so much more.
Hey Kane, thanks for the question! I no longer have the watch with me and have used the MagicWatch 2 for longer time (it's essentially the same). I didn't manage to add deep scratches and generally - this watch has terrific build quality. If you like the features - $120 is a great price! As for Harmony OS - looking at how it all happens - we may have to wait. But even like that - there are some extra apps you can install from the Huawei Health app.
I have this watch and I got to say it is great. Worth every penny of those 100 euro I payed for it. I tell you 1 thing and you will take it: battery life 1 ,5 weeks...😮
Actually getting 2 and the look is part of why I like it. Apple somehow still make the most sophisticated products and the ones which make you want them. And I have had my fair share of androids.
great review great watch i bought Xmas BUT needs custom watch faces without doing the beta hack AND notifications are very basic with no way to reply but what a watch :D
I’ll Keep My Galaxy Watch at least I can Answer texts many different ways including voice to text which is excellent. I like answering the calls on the Samsung too. Very Clear and no issues at all when I enter my cars Bluetooth done in the back ground and fast.
''It looks amazing'' I don't care how they look, i care how they work. Sorry but i don't get it... WHY.. Why on Earth they didn't use in a watch e-ink display! Yes, Amoled is good for phones and bigger screen, but under the sun and small displays, is more important visibility rather sharpness. The more the light the brighter the e-ink display is becoming. I am tired of those advertising Bullshit about how ''shining'' and ''neat'' something have to look. Give as a real TOOL with practical approach and under the sun visibility!
E ink display is not expensive, its the opposite. Many cheap to midrange watch use them. I have in the past Garmin 235 with e-ink but many other cheaper use it.
I bought this watch last week, to find it wasn't working. After a discussion with their support team it was revealed that it does not work on tattoos nor on dark skinned people. Meanwhile Apple and Samsung recently changed their watches to tackle this age old issue with the sensors. It is a shame, because it was an extremely comfortable watch, I loved the list of features, the look and the price point. But unfortunately, the sensor tech is behind it's competitors.
@@TechMishka I have an email confirming the tattoo part, as for the dark skinned part - that was from a telephone conversation. They openly admit to it though, so you can easily call them to confirm. When I googled up on it, it seems to be a very common issue for most of these devices, and only recently have a couple spent effort on the issue. From what little information I could gather, the actual sensor itself works, however they have another sensor to detect if it's against your skin or not, which does not work on tattoos or darker skin tones.

Hey, Great review. Well done. Few questions, 1. Any software update for turning off the display when sleeping? 2. What do you think about the quality and the battery life after a few months of usage? 3. What about the scratches on display after daily use? 4. Hope the charging pins won't lose connected especially when the bottom is covered with dust or sweat? (Have this issue with my zen watch 3)
1. Just place your hand over the display for a second and it goes off. 2. Still the same. 3. I still have no deep scratches. Other watches I've tried got deeper scratches easier. So it's pretty good glass! 4. I sweat a lot and am quite careless (although it is not too apparent in the videos) and saw no degradation. I think you will be fine 😊
Based on the previous watch: The one thing you should be asking for is for the watch to have better connectivity to the app than the previous version, often you had to open and close the app several times before it would actually sync, which can be frustrating if you haven't sync'd for a few days and want to go out for a ride, it won't connect to the gps so you need to sync then sit frustrated trying to get the app to fully sync with the watch. When I updated my watch to the latest version my battery life significantly dropped from before I updated. --- With all that said you would think I hate the watch but I don't, I actually really like it and I like that the update added a rabbit chase mode where you can set the average speed of the rabbit and try to beat it, what would have been nice is a ghost mode like the my garmin had but all and all I love the watch, just wish they would concentrate on improving their app and allow you to choose from any update incase an update breaks something or decreases battery life to go back to the one you liked. Anyway looking forward to the watch just hope they will improve their app and how updates work.
@@TechMishka Iphone but keep in mind mine is old the 5s (but up to date), though I have read others had the same issues. Probably best to read the help forums to get more insight on what the majority are experiencing; of course there will always be a few with some strange issue. I should have mentioned that it was just from my experience.
I've had this watch well over a year now And it's a great watch I love it I recommend buying it if you are looking to purchase one it has great features .
@@Thisfutureman for me it's a deal breaker. I use my phone for contactless payments more than my card or cash. Plus it's 2019 and NFC isn't new tech. Most smart watches have it so you would expect it as a baseline feature.
@@TechMishka always on display, its extremely integrated with my s10+, unlimited customization, solid, lightweight, durable and modern design. I can remote control my camera from my watch and of course the insane focus on health and fitness tracking. Plus the display is a beautiful lil oled display with sharp color.

It has NFC since the december update for all GT2 outside of China, it was disabled by software.

Actually getting 2 and the look is part of why I like it. Apple somehow still make the most sophisticated products and the ones which make you want them. And I have had my fair share of androids.
This is hardly an Android device, but still counts as something to help balancing the Smartwatch market share 😊

great review great watch i bought Xmas BUT needs custom watch faces without doing the beta hack AND notifications are very basic with no way to reply but what a watch :D

I’ll Keep My Galaxy Watch at least I can Answer texts many different ways including voice to text which is excellent. I like answering the calls on the Samsung too. Very Clear and no issues at all when I enter my cars Bluetooth done in the back ground and fast.

''It looks amazing'' I don't care how they look, i care how they work. Sorry but i don't get it... WHY.. Why on Earth they didn't use in a watch e-ink display! Yes, Amoled is good for phones and bigger screen, but under the sun and small displays, is more important visibility rather sharpness. The more the light the brighter the e-ink display is becoming. I am tired of those advertising Bullshit about how ''shining'' and ''neat'' something have to look. Give as a real TOOL with practical approach and under the sun visibility!
Garmin is better but way more expensive
E ink display is not expensive, its the opposite. Many cheap to midrange watch use them. I have in the past Garmin 235 with e-ink but many other cheaper use it.

I bought this watch last week, to find it wasn't working. After a discussion with their support team it was revealed that it does not work on tattoos nor on dark skinned people. Meanwhile Apple and Samsung recently changed their watches to tackle this age old issue with the sensors.
It is a shame, because it was an extremely comfortable watch, I loved the list of features, the look and the price point. But unfortunately, the sensor tech is behind it's competitors.

@@TechMishka I have an email confirming the tattoo part, as for the dark skinned part - that was from a telephone conversation. They openly admit to it though, so you can easily call them to confirm.
When I googled up on it, it seems to be a very common issue for most of these devices, and only recently have a couple spent effort on the issue.
From what little information I could gather, the actual sensor itself works, however they have another sensor to detect if it's against your skin or not, which does not work on tattoos or darker skin tones.
This watch looks amazing, definately thinking of getting one!

Even Garmin, which is more like a Sports watch, has wifi for Spotify :D
True that - transferring files takes a loong time. Even the cable doesn;t seem to allow USB mode, so ... that's rather bad.

1. Any software update for turning off the display when sleeping?
2. What do you think about the quality and the battery life after a few months of usage?
3. What about the scratches on display after daily use?
4. Hope the charging pins won't lose connected especially when the bottom is covered with dust or sweat? (Have this issue with my zen watch 3)
1. Just place your hand over the display for a second and it goes off.
2. Still the same.
3. I still have no deep scratches. Other watches I've tried got deeper scratches easier. So it's pretty good glass!
4. I sweat a lot and am quite careless (although it is not too apparent in the videos) and saw no degradation.

Great watch as was the 1st Huawei GT watch BUT this version has very very poor glass which is far too easily scratched.

In some regions the NFC is being enabled with firmware update.

Based on the previous watch:
The one thing you should be asking for is for the watch to have better connectivity to the app than the previous version, often you had to open and close the app several times before it would actually sync, which can be frustrating if you haven't sync'd for a few days and want to go out for a ride, it won't connect to the gps so you need to sync then sit frustrated trying to get the app to fully sync with the watch. When I updated my watch to the latest version my battery life significantly dropped from before I updated.

With all that said you would think I hate the watch but I don't, I actually really like it and I like that the update added a rabbit chase mode where you can set the average speed of the rabbit and try to beat it, what would have been nice is a ghost mode like the my garmin had but all and all I love the watch, just wish they would concentrate on improving their app and allow you to choose from any update incase an update breaks something or decreases battery life to go back to the one you liked.
Anyway looking forward to the watch just hope they will improve their app and how updates work.

@@TechMishka Iphone but keep in mind mine is old the 5s (but up to date), though I have read others had the same issues. Probably best to read the help forums to get more insight on what the majority are experiencing; of course there will always be a few with some strange issue. I should have mentioned that it was just from my experience.
No NFC, that's a dealbreaker. Sounds like a great product otherwise!
Yeah, these are the two biggest disappointments - no NFC and lack of Strava support for the Health app.

@@Thisfutureman for me it's a deal breaker. I use my phone for contactless payments more than my card or cash. Plus it's 2019 and NFC isn't new tech. Most smart watches have it so you would expect it as a baseline feature.
No, It has NFC, it has been disabled by software outside of China, since Decembers update, all the GT2s outside of China have NFC now.

@@TechMishka always on display, its extremely integrated with my s10+, unlimited customization, solid, lightweight, durable and modern design. I can remote control my camera from my watch and of course the insane focus on health and fitness tracking. Plus the display is a beautiful lil oled display with sharp color.

A protective tempered glass should be purchased separately. The glass on the watch is tempered too.
