Talent has little to do with it; it's whether you're willing to sign the contract or not. It also protects them from prosecution, except for the rare few who have to take the fall for the rest.

    “Take these to feel better” seems to be his catchphrase. I think we should start here: why did ALL of those women need something to “feel better?” He gave them ALL anxiety and discomfort from moment #1 🚩

      @user-lq9es6wm9s ปีที่แล้ว +22

      Awesome breakdown. Didn’t even think of HIM being the cause of the intense anxiety. I did something similar back in the day. Totally out of character. Accepting a pill from a stranger. It was almost a survival instinct - anything to take the “edge off”

    • @gypsywoman9140
      @gypsywoman9140 ปีที่แล้ว +10

      I noticed that, too.
      I assume any nerves or anxiety would have been chalked up by the women as them being star struck. Totally normal to be starstruck when we meet our false idols. Thankfully, a lot of stories have come out in recent years that have made us realize we don't know celebrities the way we think we do, that many of them are sick, out-of-touch, and/or terrible people that only care about themselves.
      ...Yet even with this knowledge, we all still have some famous person that we adore "I love Dolly Parton!" "I love Weird Al!" Do we? Or do we just love their public persona and the art they put out? Doesn't matter; we'd probably still feel starstruck if we met them. Some of us would probably still have a drink or do drugs with them, if given the opportunity, because we wouldn't be thinking clearly while starstruck. We'd want them to like us because we're so enamored as a fan. If you think "Nah, that could never happen to me!" Consider for a moment meeting your favorite, perhaps its Johnny Depp, at some social event and he seems to be enjoying your company, after a while he offers you something. You're already naturally intoxicated by his eyes, his charm, the fact that you're sitting here with Johnny freaking Depp (or insert appropriate name and pronouns with your favorite that you also find attractive) and they actually seem to like you. It's one thing sitting around on our screens to think we'd make smart decisions, and maybe we would, but the fact is we don't really know until we're actually in the situation. Even Paul Bernardo and Karla Homolka's last victim was known for being a cautious young lady. Yet even she fell into the trap.

    This is alot of the reason why I have always told my girlfriends, cousins, nieces, and eventually I’ll tell my daughter.. BUY your own drink. Order drinks from a bar, if possible, that have to be opened and ask that they open it in front of you. If you’re accepting a drink from someone, only accept them from people you trust and have taken the same precautions. Watch your bartenders, watch your drink being made, watch it being serviced to you. When you are standing or setting it down, put your hand over the top or a napkin or coaster over it in front of you. If you’ve set it down or lost eye contact with it, don’t pick it back up or drink it. It’s ridiculously over protective but it’s better to be cautious than be drugged.

    • @Mugruncher
      @Mugruncher ปีที่แล้ว +3

      That is good advice, but I think part of the problem is when the predator uses power dynamics to influence the victim into making compromises on those decisions. For example, what if your boss or a celebrity gives you a drink? A lot of people wouldn’t feel they have the right to say no. And if you DO say no, what if they then pressure you? What if they tell you you’re being rude, or insulting them?
      I think a lot of people would just take the drink and feel like they didn’t really have a choice.
      We have to start teaching not just our girls but EVERYBODY that respecting someone should never come at your own expense or at the expense of your convictions or boundaries.
      The way to erase the super dangerous situations where powerful people can use that dynamic to seriously abuse people is to REMOVE ALL THE LITTLE WAYS our society does it, thus indoctrinating everyone to be vulnerable when someone uses this dynamic for evil.
      Ie: we need to normalise standing up to your boss or teacher when they are rude or dishonest or bullying. That should be normal. It shouldn’t be “bad” or “disrespectful”.
      It should be normal to not feel like you deserve to be DOMINATED because this person is above you.
      Our society currently teaches the exact opposite, and when we condition people to meekly obey those above them no matter what, it makes it very easy for predators in positions of power to perform evil.

    • @katiemckay-pd4il
      @katiemckay-pd4il ปีที่แล้ว +4

      @@Mugruncher again, say no. “I’ll buy my own but that’s really kind of you”. “I have extreme anxiety over accepting drinks from others, as much as I appreciate it” or if you’re in a situation that’s new and you’re surrounded by people that you feel pressured by altogether just say “I’m not going to drink tonight but thank you” or “I’m not one to give into temptation or pressure, you should appreciate that as my boss” if you say something nicely and they keep pressuring you. Reconsider who you’re working for or surrounding yourself with and leave. There’s ways around it. You can never be too careful and it is NEVER rude to decline something you are putting into YOUR body.

    Back in the early 80’s, I lived in Colorado. I had a friend who worked at a hotel that Bill Cosby was staying in; I remember her telling me at the time that Cosby ordered room service and when she delivered it to his room, he tried to se*ually a$$ault her. I always remembered that all these years; so I believe all of these women.

      His family members that speak on him are being truthful from their standpoint because they can't fathom him actually doing that to anyone when he's totally the opposite in their presence. All His daughter ever saw was a loving parent. He obviously didn't prey on his own child. It's really sad for everyone involved.

    What's most disturbing to me is that there are women trying to dismantle the "me too" movement, claiming that women that get themselves in these situations with men basically asked for it. I struggle to comprehend how some women fail to recognize that there are men out there that are predators. It's such a reckless and dangerous narrative.

    What she talks about at 13:16 is something I understand and try to teach my daughter the opposite. My parents raised me catholic so i understand the "obedient" aspect, as "its the polite thing to do" to just go along with things, and it sometimes put you in a compromised situation. The family member i didnt like to hug as a child ended up being a c___d m______r, i knew i had a weird vibe. If my daughter doesnt want to give someone a hug or even give them any sort of time or effort from her day, she doesnt have to 🤷‍♀️ we as humans dont OWE anyone anything, and people need to teach their kids that, along with people needing to realize that nobody owes them anything. Idk how these predators keep existing.

    Seeing the way Bill Cosby looks at women in some clips was actually really triggering for me. I was SA'd in middle school on the playground in broad daylight, and the boy who did it to me had the same look on his face any time he looked at a girl/woman. Just like Cosby, he assaulted multiple girls and women. He continues to get away with it; I can't even press charges now, because by the time I realised what he did to me, it was past the statute of limitations. The kids who witnessed him do it just bullied and made fun of me for being intimate with him, although it was not my choice. There was a teacher who witnessed this as well and she blamed it on me for not being nice to him.
