It's almost disgusting how good hydro storm is. LIke it's a fullscreen attack that can kill bosses in one or two uses but you're free to move around and attack while it's happening.
Also, symphony of the night bosses are way too easy, they have too little HP (except galamoth), portrait of ruin had arguably more powerful attacks (the co-op moved) but since most bosses could withstand them (specially the bosses towards the end of the game) it was more fair
There's something absolutely hilarious about watching a buff man sprinting into a room and starting throwing glass bottles at unholy creatures of the night and gigantic monsters

To me Hydro Storm (or Divine Rain as called in some of the later installments) should have been Richters signature move and therefore his ultimate in Smash (dont get me wrong not as a full stage attack like its here but as a climax move to not be too op) Even in Grimoire of Souls Richters Special Move is Hydro Storm so its kinda weird they gave him AND Simon Grand Cross I know that Richter is also capable of using Grand Cross but still…
I have a feeling that he was tricked into believing some nutjob was trying to revive Drac and was amushed by Shaft. Like there is no way this man purposely looked for a way to bring back Drac just so he could keep his glory days going.
Richter Belmont was possessed, remember? Alucard talked about him with Maria at the center of the normal castle and she was sure Richter was being controlled. She even gave Alucard the Holy Glasses to see beyond evil illusions, which gave him the ability to see Shaft's orb that possessed Richter during the fight. It's speculated that Shaft came after Richter back where he lived to possess him, or that he corrupted his mind over time. Maybe he was lured to the castle by Shaft before the possession. However, what's known is that Richter "mysteriously vanished", so it could more likely be the former. Shaft possessed and lured Richter to the castle in order protect it against other vampire hunters, just so Dracula could be resurrected undisturbed. Since Richter's strength was supreme amongst vampire hunters, almost no one would be able to challenge and beat him. Richter Belmont is one of the most powerful members of the Belmont clan of all time, after all. Shaft even explained the plan after Alucard reached him at the center of the reverse castle. The "glory days" Richter talks about just before the fight is his corrupted and possessed mind speaking of it's darkest desires, the ones Richter himself doesn't want but has deep inside him. Even the Belmonts can't be protected against having dark wishes.

you gotta understand the fact that hydrostorm is just normal raindrops , its a divine weapon used by belmonts to hunt vampires , its so strong it can damage even the ground it hits
While Richter DOES have Hydro Storm in Rondo of Blood as well, its not nearly as OP there. it doesn't last as long as it does here, and bosses have more mercy invincibility so they aren't demolished as badly.
The biggest tragedy of all is how Scott McCullough died before Fiverr was a thing. Wild Dog punching a boulder during a Hydro Storm would have been badass. *JUST TO BE SURE.*
