Don't eat junk continuously. Have some fresh juice, lassi and simple healthy food in-between. Like idli , dosa , appam, etc, without much gravies (minimal sambar or chutneys) so that there is less spice.
Just FYI : Most of these places suffered from flood recently and after effect is still there that’s why you see the streets so messy. I must say your attitude is great even in the middle of chaos and you are honest in your reaction. Keep it up.
A small tip : College students always help you out if you struggle with language and got struck somewhere, like how those students helped you out in that atho shop.

Best way to traverse through south india is by talking to the youngsters especially college kids. They will always help you guys and can communicate in good english.

I was having a laugh, he only took us like a third of the way and said wasn't going any further so really shouldn't have even given him that much! We aren't the type to throw money around, but 100 percent of our money always goes to small businesses only 🙏
@neerajsharma well what you feel about those people who jack up the price when they see foreigners? It is not a right thing to do. Indians live in many part of the world but they don’t jack up price for Indians anywhere so there is nothing wrong in foreigners bargaining in India to get a better deal just like anyone else unless the seller has a fixed price for everyone and firm on it and no one is gonna bargain for it.
@@EllisWRAs a chennai person I know what for the fair to auto 2km if you waited at bus stop share auto charge will be 20rs for a single person it will stopped at busstand to bus stand only 。but if you go inside the road or Street means for 2km it will cost atleast 60rs but you are bargaining with that driver 50 in to 40 but he took that cost genuinely cause he think you are the guest to chennai. If I bargain like you means to that auto driver surely he kick my ass.. if you come next to chennai means just book ola,Uber or rapido that will show what the cost

You're right.Street food is highly affordable. Sangeetha type of restaurants have too many over heads plus GST added.also ambience plus labour cost adds up. Street food is invariably a home run mini Enterprise.
Pro Tip: when you eat at a busy restaurant, change your large denominations and get all the small notes you need! Also think about getting UPI. That's the payment system through your phone and the QR code.

Pls be careful while having food that are not covered as they can cause stomach upset. There are many good places to try in Chennai. Go to Panagal park, Adyar, Anna Nagar, Triplicane, Mylapore ( behind the temple and on the side). On the beaches too you can try.

Appam, dosa, idli, Vada.. all these goes best along with coconut chutney.. i prefer it just with coconut chutney 😁.. and that vadapav u had, in Mumbai u will find a shop in every 50 metres, and always ask for extra chutney.. u get it cheaper in Mumbai it starts with 10 INR and some sell it even for 30-40 INR.. i had it even for 6 INR at Bhiwandi. And that pumpkin sweet that u had, it's called 'doodhi ka halwa' and similar u get carrot sweet which is called 'gajar ka halwa'
Please try vegetarian thali meals for Lunch is the best option. It will be a verity of dishes in a single plate. Also visit Marina beach the second longest beach in the world.

There are some very clean restaurants in Chennai ...we dont want you to tolerate the issues you have health wise and tell only the nice things about India. A friendly advice.. 10 INR = 0.1gbp.. so pls do not bargain for 10/20/30 r.s with autos or street vendors.. those innocent hard workers aren't cheating you with that amount. Moreover they can't do much with that. It can make them for 1 or 2 cup of tea.. or a little snack for their family.. or just a small stationary item for their kids. Hope you understand brother. Be generous to them as they're already suffering enough to run life by the politicians from local to central. ~1gbp spent in a day like that isn't much loss for you compare to the thousands and millions of subscribers and views.

10 INR = 0.1gbp.. so pls do not bargain for 10/20/30 r.s with autos or street vendors.. those innocent hard workers aren't cheating you with that amount. Moreover they can't do much with that.
It can make them for 1 or 2 cup of tea.. or a little snack for their family.. or just a small stationary item for their kids.

Be generous to them as they're already suffering enough to run life by the politicians from local to central.

Even for locals its hard to get ride for 30/40rs in yellow auto🛺 even in towns.
Only shared autos🚌 accepts 10,20,30..even upto 50.. depends on the locality.
