All these folks here saying this looks complicated. I remember when I would have thought so too lol. When you get super into board games your idea of complicated shifts hard lol. This game is on the milder side.
It really isn't that complicated once you get used to it, because every interaction is explained right on the tile. And it plays quickly -- it's a 30-minutes-or-less kind of game, which I always like because then when you finish there's TIME FOR MORE GAMES. n_n
To me this game feels really nice and relaxing. There's something about playing it while listening to the older Sim Cities soundtracks that makes it just right.
Another game similar to this is Between Two Cities. You must build two cities, one with each adjacent player. Tiles score in similar ways to this game the catch is that only your lowest scoring city counts at the end so you have to focus on both cities and devise strategies with two different people that don't clash.
incredibly late comment, but tiles like Business Supply Store count EVERY office, meaning it also counts those played by your opponents, not just your own!
If they're going to use the $ I think they should be using number design that works like that. $1 (one dollar) is to $1 (one dollar), but with their set up with the millions base then $1 (one dollar) =/= $1 (one million dollars). It's counterintuitive, if they wanted to avoid strings of 0s then maybe make a game currency with in-game exchange values listed separately. This could allow one million dollars to be written as ∫1 using a less popular character than the $ symbol for players which, if they're of/familiar with American culture, automatically see, understand, and then with the, current design, consciously have to redefine the symbol throughout the game.
Playing this game is simpler than it looks, especially if you've played any of the simcity or cities skylines games. Setting this game up on the table and shuffling all those cardboard tokens, though, HOO BOY... >_
Well mi daddy once told me that the dinosaurs used to thrive on the blood of angels and when that Gabriel chick from heaven came ta visit she were all like ‘You’s are a bunch of cunts, sort it out!’ Then the comet struck earth wiping out the blood suckers. THE END.
Basically the game works like this Step 1 - Start building the town and start to select what sort of strategy you want to focus Step 2 - Build up your income (with a steady but low rep) to synergize with your strategy Step 3 - Switch to building up rep and rapidly increasing your population before the end of game
Dumdum Vids You can find it on amazon or other online stores, or if you search for a board game store near you, you can support your friendly local game store
It's more card game complexity. The different pieces each have their own rules but they are just what is written. The game is about synergy like a deck builder so after you get the gist of what the pieces do, the goal is to buy the right pieces without too much cost to your self. For reference, a lot of the late game pieces are just better versions of early game pieces. The only hard part is managing your income and rep so your population isn't growing too fast that you have to start losing people
It's best to think it like a deck building game with early pieces to establish your base and what kind of strategy you want to go with and later game to switch your economy to create a population boom.
It really isn't complicated once you start playing. You buy tiles, place them and apply the effects. It's really not too bad. Suburbia is a great game.
MrJobocan I never played board games. I’m trying to get one and try if I like it or not. I don’t have friends to play with, so I’m looking for solo games. I jut bought Orinim and it’s arriving on Sunday. Do u think it’s a good game?
