    Fun Fact: The ANIKI you hear in this video was slightly annoyed! 🥲 When recording the voiceover for this video, I spoke into the microphone for a good 40 minutes, thinking i am recording the greatest voiceover of all time. Then, I noticed that I didn’t hit the record button. Whoops! 🙃

    Many English-language sources, including wikipedia, refer to Yoshio Kodama as a yakuza, but Kodama is not a yakuza.

    Hello and greetings from Germany!
    I found your channel by chance a couple of days ago and immediately subscribed, as I'm a huge fan of the Yakuza/Like A Dragon series and to watch well researched videos about the real life organizations and their ties into politics and other aspects of life is really fascinating to learn about!
    I also researched some of the cults in this country, especially Aum Shinrikyo since they are a very infamous one and was shocked how many ties they had in the military and also some Government branches.
    So this is especially interesting to see!
    Keep up the good work, I'll share this channel with some of my friends in the future who love those kinds of documentaries as well!
    Have a very nice day!

      @@anikihistory for further Tattoo/horimono/Irezumi videos... Could you maybe look into whether YaKuZa families have their own "brand", say a Northern Family uses the Koi as its motiff, or a Southern Family uses a Hannya Noh Mask as it's motiff...
      Could be interesting.
      I know that guys like HoriYoshi3 decides on what tattoo you have. You can't just walk in and say "I want a dragon on my back", so there is at some level, even just the Tattoo Family, get to decide your tattoo.
      HoriYoshi3 will have tattoo apprentices in prisons to finish his works whilst people are sent away...

    Love your videos so far man. I’m sure you’ve read Tokyo Underworld by Robert Whiting? If not I definitely recommend. That’s where I learned of Nick Zapetti. I heard long ago that there was triumvirate of the Yakuza, the government, and corporations but I never understood the connections. I’ve lived in Japan for 7 years and no one ever mentions Kodama. It’s almost as if the government doesn’t want this stuff talked about…nah, can’t be. I’ll just keep paying NHK fees and not think 😂

      @anikihistory  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Absolutely! That's the book i used for my latest video, super fascinating stuff in there for sure 🔥
      Haha yeah I feel like the Japanese would rather not talk too much about negative stories regarding their past, Kodama being a perfect example. Never heard about the guy either before doing my research!

    Very Informative. Your excellent pronunciation of Japanese indicates that You are capable to understand/read that language. But what are the sources, or books, that You are referring to (besides the obvious Wikipedias with do not say much)? As this part of Japanese history is too often kept "nicely hidden" behind Jidaigeki, Mangas and Animes series ...
