"seizing his property, his assets... and his collection of Asian art" I can imagine losing all my waifu anime girl figures and merchandise too. I understand his pain.
I know right? It reminds me of that whole OJ Simpson highway chase where something that actually happened seems so surreal that it feels like a movie lmao
Actor: Hey we're filming a movie can we fly one of your planes? Airport Front Desk: Say no more. Uhhh.. I think we need some more details about how that went down. Is it common for actors to know how to pilot a plane in Japan? Can anyone just rent a plane for the day? Wtf lol
Lmao you're right, that whole story is wild. But your questions are understandable, i think i have at least somewhat of an answer tho Apparently, Maeno practiced his flight route multiple times in the days leading up to the assassination attempt, he might have been somewhat familiar with the staff there which made it easier to get a plane. Maybe someone there even recognized him as an actor (he was an adult film actor at that time btw which makes this whole story even crazier). As for him having flight experience: According to his Wikipedia page, he was an amateur pilot and a member of a flying club.
@@anikihistory Thanks for the reply. That does clear up a lot of my questions about it haha. I wonder if the airport guys were thinking that they might be able to get a glimpse of some patriotic kamikaze erotica. Jokes aside, very wild story!
Actually, as far as Lockheed goes, the L-1011 was (by any metric except sales) vastly superior to McDonnell Douglas tri jet at the time, and their first entry into the jumbo jet market. They pretty much said screw it after that as far as civilian aircraft go.
I'm learning a lot with Aniki, I was talking to a friend and he told me that one of those guys from the last video was Abe's uncle! I don't remember if it was mentioned in the video.
I didn't mention it in the video, but while looking for footage i stumbled upon a speech by Abe Shinzo. He said that Nobusuke Kishi (former Prime Minister and cellmate of Kodama) was his grandfather! I thought that was really interesting
@@anikihistory that makes his ass4ssination even more suspicious, not to mention the flash b0mb incident with Kishida, makes us wonder if the pre-WWII good old days for the yakuza are back when they did the same kind of thing.
Glad you liked it! My videos about Yakuza history are mostly based on information from the book "Yakuza: Japan's Criminal Underworld" by David E. Kaplan. Fantastic book, i highly recommend it if you're curious to learn even more about the Yakuza 😁

I guess i don't understand what he did that was illegal regarding the lockheed incident ? Like yeah not very great putting pressure on competitors, but it all seemed legal?
does anyone know of a refernce tying union busting with gangs ... I mean is it as simple as preventing workers from getting acceptable work conditions? And why does it (seem to) happen to large mining operations and harbors/port facilities? I don't care which country but . I mean we seem to equate "authoritarian" with politics but it seems it's a big factor with just regular people working a job.. it's pretty sad

This guy releases videos so quick, hes going to have to start making scandals happen just so he has a video topic.
Great videos so far man!
I'm glad that the Yakuza have provided me with 400 years worth of scandalous activities to cover 🤣
Thanks for watching!

Fascinating and well put together as always, thank you.
very well put together and a lot of hard work went into making these videos
Subbed
Enjoy making these for y'all 😁
Thanks for the sub!
Brilliant work (as always)
Thank you so much (as always)! 😁
Man this channel is excellent
Glad you're enjoying the content 🫶🏻
Never heard about this corruption scandal before 🤯 super interesting to hear about all these "big names" and countries involved in it.
He looks like an unpleasant human being and he was.
The best Yakuza history videos I have ever seen. And as far as TH-cam goes it is elite content that very very few create.
Such a great compliment man, thank you so much! More good stuff to come, stay tuned 🙏🏻
Incredible video. Thanks for sharing this story.
Interesting stuff as always, thank you :)
Thank you for tuning in!
What a wild story
Just found your channel. Great work. Keep it up. Subscribing 😀
Thanks for watching and subbing! Always working on something new for y'all 😁
The music used in these mini documentaries remind me of Ghost In The Shell (the '90s anime--the original). Very good.
It is a shame that Maeno Mitsuyasu and all these events remain so far outside the spotlight.
I think that there would be a great movie in it.
I know right?

Just found your channel! Are you going to talk about the Yamaguchi-gumi down the line?
Gonna be one of the next few topics! I might combine it into one video with the Inagawa-Kai 🤔
This is somewhat like the Yakuza 6 plottwist with the Shio 😂😂😂

At the end of the day communism never had a chance in Japan, and it was due to all sorts of efforts
Damn imagine surviving a kamikaze bombing
Isn't this supposed to be the guy who dies in Yakuza 6?
You mean the so-called "Fixer of the Showa Era"? Possibly.
Hey i love your video. Where can i find detail sources about this topic?
