    @JacksonSubNScaleModelRailroad ปีที่แล้ว +4

    Oh this was absolutely awesome! Made my day!
    As a model railroader, this is just cool to see different ideas on how to make something work. I think the biggest difference in operational reliability is in a steam locomotive, you have all of that weight acting as a flywheel to smooth out the piston travel, where as the power of the saw far exceeds the weight of the apparatus acting as a flywheel when compared to their 12 inch to 1 foot scale counterpart.
    I think if you could build one with a lot wider gauge, a ton more heavier, and had the saw directly driving the wheels on the track, (called drive wheels on the 1:1), you could achieve better results and have a lot more smoother operation. Also could make a double saw version and have each saw power one side of wheels, and have at least 3 drive wheels per side. Would definitely help with traction and stability.
    But was definitely a cool video! Love it!!!

  • @Naro_Rivers
    @Naro_Rivers ปีที่แล้ว +2

    “G scale” actually refers to multiple different scales, as modeling standards and prototypes can vary from modeler to modeler. What you’re building on is G _gauge,_ with “gauge” referring to the space between the rails. G gauge is always 45 mm (~1 3/4 inches), regardless of scale.

      Plus other stores would have displays set up and taken down for the holiday shopping season. The rest of the year larger toys would be set on display where kids could play with them or get up close views of what they looked liked. Now stores barely bother with display models, as every unit is only for sale, with anything lowering that price to be avoided.

    9:30 clearly Peter’s answer to the Trolly Problem starts with “depends if it’s a sawzall powered trolly or a regular one”

    Excellent video! Could we have an impact wrench/driver powered car next? Having to deal with the intermittent blows for power delivery would be quite interesting!

    Very cool and interesting, now see if you can make it navigate curved sections of track, if so that be mighty impressive

    I love how some engineers probably worked really hard to turn the rotational force of the motor into a linier force of the bade and you just reversed it again.

    That hobby store seems like a really cool business. This is definitely a PR win for them. I saw they actually have a lot of cool things to do for families. I don't exactly have any kids at the moment, but I'll definitely keep them in mind if I have any kids that are train enthusiasts like I was as a little one. Haha

    As a model railroader, I find this is extremely impressive. For more traction put traction tires on the wheels.

      Maybe move the weight over the drive wheels first, and then add a miniature sand spreader for traction grit...... They could even get away with rubber bands around the tires for more traction the plastic wheels on rail has such low coefficient for gripping power
