This is a terrific behind-the-scenes look at what it takes for an epic performance to come together. All those musicians to re-create the Wall of Sound, and then Darlene. As amazing as her singing is here, she was probably holding a little back for the real performance. Once of the greatest singers ever. Love Darlene Love!
I got chills when Darlene sang. This was one of my all-time favorite Letterman music moments.
Never expected to see any behind the scenes footage on this channel. This is great! It must've been a blast to see the band rehearsals every day.
When was the first year she performed the song on the show? It just isn't Christmas without some Darlene Love!!

Darlene's annual appearance on Letterman's show was always the best thing each year. (It didn't hurt that one of her backup singers was the fabulous Lisa Fischer! ) Darlene was, is, and always will be the QUEEN of Christmas! (Mariah Carey cannot hold a candle to Queen Darlene)

I really miss seeing Dave's Christmas Show with Darlene Love. This was a great treat to see this rehearsal. You brought back Christmas for me.
My folks moved 200 miles away from our hometown in retirement. Then I lost my siblings. I had to create a new Christmas tradition on my own. A helicopter would tow Santa and his reindeer in lights over the town and harbor on Christmas eve. I'd climb up on my roof and watch him fly by. Then stay up to see Miss Love sing this song. Always spectacularly. Then leave very early to attend Christmas Mass with my parents. This time on my own on that night allowed me to touch Christmases past. Every time her singing brought me to tears. Still does. I miss being able to do that now that both parents are gone too. Thanks for posting this.

I’ve died and gone to heaven. The performance is one of my very favorite moments ever and seeing the rehearsal makes it even better. Darlene Love is a phenomenal singer and talent.
What a treat it was to see Darlene, Paul and Dave reunite today on the Barbara Gaines Show to reprise this wonderful musical tradition.
