Amigo necesito tu ayuda estoy montando un 5.3 en una bronco es para el monte y es turbo le voy a montar GT3585 que carburador me recomienda que no tenga problemas con la inclinación del monte gracias aprecio tu ayuda
My waterski boat won't idle this year but last year was great. Starts fine and runs with the choke. Runs great at speed. But when the choke comes off it won't idle. So I turned up the idle and adjusted the mixture screws until it seemed happy. Then about 20 minutes later the idle rpm starts to drop again. 600, 500 and even into the 400 rpm range and it quits. This is with the motorbox open so should be ok airflow. Any ideas? Thank you
If it was fine before and suddenly its not fine, there is some sort or restriction or air leak. My guess is that fuel dried up inside of the carb and some crud has been blocking the idle feed passage. Try to readjust the idle screws to how they were to see if anything has changed so far. If the symptom continues, a carb rebuild may be in order
@@NightWrencherrebuild or take off the metering blocks and clean them? I just watched your other videos on carbs and I think I can take it apart and clean the metering block passages without replacing any parts.
Chances are the gaskets are going to rip when you pull it apart but basically thats all you'll have to do. Blow it apart, spray carb cleaner through every passage and make sure theyre all clear before reassembly.
Things to always check that take only a minute or two. 1. Fuel pressure. 7ish lbs is what you need here. You get up around 9-10 and you might over fuel the motor by the pump pushing fuel past needle and seat. 2. Float level. Make sure your float level is right. 3. If equipped adjust the choke properly.
mine wont idle, revs fine and wot sound good. I didn’t touch it at all. So far done fuel pump filters and plugs. Carb is 600cfm like 7 years old, hasn’t skipped a beat til now
But that would mean i would have to learn a few things about my carb..... Think i will just grabb my purse and skinny jeans, Run out and get me a EFI system.
Man, you nailed it! I just had that problem with a QFT body with a Holley gasket. Thanks
Thank you! Happy to help!
I have a hole punch good for fiber or leather that can add an extra hole on a gasket mismatch like this - very handy tool.
Good video 👍🇦🇺
Thank you Big Al 👍

@@NightWrencher glad I ordered a rebuild kit before watching your videos. And now I know to check all the gasket holes too.
@thomasloper1205 thats all you're basically gonna need so I hope it goes well 👍
Got one brand new out of the box won’t idle you think factory may have done this
Normally carburetors don't idle right out of the box. I always reset the idle and then tune it myself.

I would take it apart, clear out all the passages with carb cleaner and make sure none of the holes are blocked. Fresh gasket set and then reassembled

Exactly. Learning things with hands on experience?? 🤢🤢🤢
Take off Holley and replace with Edelbrock...Use Holley as wheel chock.
