Andrew Marr is clearly in love with Starmer. I’ve never heard him say a single bad word about the bloke. He is so so out of touch. How he ever pulled off neutrality on the BBC is beyond me.
That's because Starmer, so far, has been brilliant. The UK General Public are being so unbelievably unreasonable about donations during campaigns - the standard way to find politics for centuries. They are also unbelievably unreasonable about Winter Fuel Allowance. How on Earth can it be fair for tax-paying millenials, who are renting in precarious conditions, to support handouts for property-owning pensioners, often with substantial cash savings, without any means testing? THAT is what is grossly unfair, regressive and exploitative - not cutting off these extravagant benefits. Edit: As to the politics of it, I guess he's betting on long-term effects of these reforms to be positive, mitigating any short-term anger. I think they will be. But he needs to remember that even with a substantial majority, his own MPs can replace him if they start worrying too hard about their own seats.
