Working on a draped gown right now myself, and when you unrolled that first fabric I was waiting to see how you tackle it! It’s also great to see you work through issues like fit and textile concerns. It’s the part that people don’t see unless they do what we do….and it also is part of why people struggle to see the value sometimes. You are amazing as always! Can’t wait to check out the next part! 🎉

Thank you so much sweet thing! Oh yeah I was so excited for this fabric but it just can’t work because of the thickness. I still have the rest of it in case I ever have a fun design with Elsa bulk but for now she gets rolled back up and tucked away 🎉

CassB where did you learn this amazing ability? Was your Mom into sewing? Did you go to fashion design school?

Thanks for asking! I went to the University of North Carolina at Greensboro and obtained my degree in apparel design. School is a great starting point but until you work with clients one cannot understand the pressure for perfection that custom garments really demand. So I apprenticed for too years at a bridal boutique in Greensboro with two master pattern makers and they taught me so much! The rest, is trial and error🫠

The moment you took out the fashion fabric I knew that designer wouldn’t work for that style 😂. If the customer said that’s the fabric option I would immediately still her absolutely not with that design

You’re totally right! I was so hoping I could swing it but it definitely wasn’t possible. I only try projects like this on my own so this one isn’t for a client so that’s a great point!

Why did you add length to the dress from the waist instead of the length at the hem

Great question. So I did in fact add it to the hem line on the front and back pieces. I did however ab to add a waist seam on the back panels and then added seam allowance so that’s likely what you were seeing! Let me know if that doesn’t make sense😂

Thank you for your honesty and teachable moments 🪡🎉 all of this was still very helpful pattern making and fabric sourcing is difficult at times 🤷‍♀️ the plan to get the work complete always changes lol!
