    Chat away sweetie always here to listen. Love the slug story and it bought back memories of the good old bug catcher. I would love to see you make the chandelier charms as I have a few myself, also the bead chain and of course your who wouldn't want to see your paper collection.

    That chain in the repurpose pile would be beautiful as a border on a journal

    Fun video to watch just love watching jewelry being taken apart, I just wish I had the patience for that. Thanks for sharing all your cool stories.

    My sister and I once had a bug zoo. My mom would get so mad because we were always using her canning jars for our bug collections. I understand your passion for paper. I used to take used fireworks apart because the paper they were made with had Chinese writing on it which I found fascinating. I enjoy your 1 am ramblings and to be perfectly honest I often listen to you and a few other journal makers when I can’t sleep. It’s like a bedtime story.

      I did that too! With the fireworks. I loved the smell of it too. Xo

    Your Rings and Things story just took me on a side-tracked deep dive into the company. It still does look like a great place to work. There website is pretty cool and informative. I learned that Swarovski is no longer selling to the DIY market.

      The owner died about 6 years ago, leaving the business to his son and daughter. Its changed apparently, since then, but yeah, its a cool place to work and they do have some awesome stuff in their showroom sometimes thats not on the website.

    I still have beads that I bought at the Rings 'n Things roadshow in Seattle or maybe it was Everett. That was years ago. How interesting that you worked for them. Taking apart jewelry is as much fun as dismantling used clothing for the fabric, buttons and trims. Have fun!!

      Yeah, they really had a cool thing going. It started going downhill for a while when Russ retired, but he had to for his health. I had not been into the showroom for probably 10 years. Only a handful for originals there now, and their son Skyler owns and operates now. He taught me how to assemble puzzle rings back in the day. Lol he could do them behind his back. Xo

    Oh my god, bananna slugs. I remember those in Santa Cruz. ASMR , I love it but it has to be unintentional. Certain noises give you goosebumps on top of your head. I thought I was the only one in the world who experienced this. It's weird. Clitter clatter. Lol, Diana.

    I used to collect slugs in a big bucket and feed them to the chickens. I still do it sometimes-I get some sort of sadistic satisfaction from offing those little garden wreckers, and the chickens love them. You can’t dawdle, though, because the slugs climb up the side of the bucket with alarming speed! Lol

    When I was little, I would collect little tiny frogs. I called them bittle frogs. And I would catch them and play with them. And let them go at night. My mama was so grossed out!🤣. Also, I collected rocks. When my Daddy went to France on business, he would bring my mama perfume, my sister a doll, and me some rocks!🤣🤣🤣.

    You should take all the little things that aren't your 'taste' but are still usable supplies and keep them together. You could make little craft/misc. mixed bags to sell or even donate them to a school or college. I m 30 years old and I have been making jewelry since I was a preteen and I would still use most of the stuff you tossed like that orange cabochon piece and even the seed beads.. sometimes I just need a little spacer but don't want to use metal and seed beads work great :) Anyway, waste not want not :) I know you follow the philosophy of 'One man's trash is another man's treasure" for yourself and there are tons of people that would love your 'trash' :) Even a beginner could use the jump rings and 'nipped' metal pieces to start practicing.. just an idea :)

    Hey there, love your videos. You can repurpose that chain. Use your vintage patina on it then glue it on a canvas in the shape of something. Off to watch the rest of your video. Diana

    Your slug story reminded me that when I was a kid I was fascinated with insects and one time my mom and I were visiting my grandfather. Anyway I had collected a bunch of spiders and bugs and layered them in tissues in a large matchbox. I brought the box to bed, which I was sharing with my mom, and in the morning her face was all swollen and covered in bug bites! So you can tell your mom she lucked out because your paper collection was far less dangerous than my collection lol.

    Can you tell me what kind of tools are good to purchase for working with jewelry. I want to use my junk jewelry to make things like jump rings for add ones. I am new to this and I don’t know what tools are necessary. Thank you for your kindness.

    This question is more general than pertaining to this video, BUT: Have you made any videos about the sewing you do? Your projects have made me want to get a sewing machine, but I’ve never used one, and I know nothing about what kind of thread to use, etc. I’ve seen you sew in videos (thanks!), but I’m wondering: have you ever made a video exclusively about that?

    • @twosilveroranges
      @twosilveroranges  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi June, thanks for watching and for your question. I have talked about sewing, and I did a video about using a buttonhole attachment, but never a basic how to, no. I have thought about it though because I have a neat collection of vintage sewing machines and I think theres probably a bunch of people like you that have never used a sewing machine before, but want to. Xo I'll add it to my list.

      @@twosilveroranges That would cover me sort of...I used one in like 9th grade home economics but that was decades ago. I don't need to learn anything fancy and I've looked around for videos but most people have different goals than I do in terms of what they want to sew.

    I really enjoyed watching you this morning! Yes, I did check out the website. Sounds like it was a great place to work!
    Yes, I'd love to see how to make the bead chain.
    It would be interesting to find out if the lady selling the necklaces for so much got screwed herself or is purposely overpricing them. I once got a bit upset about someone who overpriced something only to find out later that they overpaid and didn't realize it.
    Oh, and yes, I'd love to see your paper collection not so much the slug collection. LOL!! You are such a character, Jess!! I just love you!!!

      Yes. Yes they do. I dont know what it is about paper. I dont care what it is really, I guess I just love the smell, the textures and the sound of cutting it. Seriously whenever I feel anxious if I start cutting paper with a trimmer or with scissors it just takes it all away. That's why I like the asmr videos I think. But it's also the way the feeling travels through my hand and into my body that is soothing. Weird huh?

    • @ideastimestwo3522

    • @twosilveroranges
      @twosilveroranges  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I dont really have a favorite, and I havent watched or I should say listened for quite a while, but sometimes I just search them up and play a long one when I'm going to sleep. Theres one with someone cutting paper with those scissors that cut fringe...like with 5 sets of blades... I love that one. I also used to watch this one japanese lady who does calligraphy and makes tea on camera. . Its soooo cool listening to her painting and the sounds of her tea. Lol she talks in them, but even her voice is soothing.

      I actually have a brother I'll tell you about sometime. It's not a funny story, but I have great memories with him as a kid. He was my best friend out there in the country running around playing with whatever we could find and taking mud baths together in the driveway. Lol good times. Xo
