  • Hello, my name is Dana and I have been recording audio for 45 years. I am the owner of D & L Studio LLC located in Honaker Virginia. Audio is fun! Mixing and mastering is really quite simple once you learn the basics. After that, it can only be enhanced by gaining experience. Gaining experience comes from doing! Hello Dana, Have an X32 C and want to use X32 EDIT but do not have WiFi, can I just use a Network Cable from X32 to Laptop? If so, any special config for this?
    Thanks, Don

Not really, you just need to know the IP address of the computer and use a standard Ethernet cable, then setup the network in the mixer.

Thanks for this video! I'm kind of new to the X/M32, and this very issue was bugging me on the new M32 I purchased for our church. Coming from Presonus, there weren't as many possible options for both channel sends and bus sends. I didn't quite understand/ kept getting confused on the differences/interactions between the individual channel send taps to the buses vs the bus output taps which are on the Routing/Out 1-16 tab. I was muddling through with my bus settings for the last few weeks and this is very timely to what I've been trying to figure out.

You are very welcome. I also teach one on one via zoom if you ever want to get up to speed quickly using the X/M 32 Mixers, as well as a few books I have written on the subject. danatucker.com/x32-rack-training/

One question I'm strugling with: when sending inputs pre fader to my monitor buses, the CHANNEL mute is affecting this as well. However I want to be able to mute a channel front of house but have the artists be able to listen to their selves. Is there a way to do this with channel mutes or mute groups?

No. The channel mute controls the input signal before it is sent to the bus, regardless of the tap point.

4:24 They are not affected by this selection, as send effects goes through buses and have their own tap points, as you show later in the video

Ya, that's what I was thinking. It does not matter if the compressor is pre or post of the EQ, sends and returns will always come after the channel strip processing.
