    I'm so glad you've ran this mini tut on X32 routing, super helpful for me as a X32 rack user. 😎🙏🎹🎶🇬🇧🍻

    Awesome videos - Thank you. I’m running a DL32 on my X32 Compacts A-port and SD16 on the Compacts B-port. In this config, do I have any routing control over the SD16’s 8 Outputs? Or should they be mirroring the X32’s physical outputs (if switched to 1-8?) I can’t seem to get anything to output on the SD16. Any ideas?

    • @DanaTucker1
      @DanaTucker1  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes. You would route the first 8 outputs to the DL32 and the second outputs to the SD16. Just make sure you have 8-16 selected on the SD16.

    This video is very intuitive!!... However I'd really like to know about the "issues" you said the Producer version of the X32 has, because I intend to use one of our Church mixers which is the "X32 Producer" version, for mobile outreach gigs.

    • @DanaTucker1

      I am not aware of any issues but I will forward your concerns to Thomas and see if he can answer any questions you may have.

    I am curious to know the issues that the producer has as you mentioned in the first part of your video. I have a producer but I don't do anything advanced with it so I don't know about it's limitations. The only external gear I use is the SD16 stage box. I just use it to record on a DAW in my home studio. It does everything I need it to do with no issues, but I would be interested to see a video that would show its limitations compared to other X32 systems. Maybe I will upgrade.

      Good question! I have no idea as I did not make the statement.

    Thank you for this video… I run an X32 and an SD16 at my work… my problem is this… I want to make Bus1 come out of the “1” output on my sd16 and it never works. It works fine on my physical output on the board. 7-8 are my outputs … how do i route this correctly, so i am not running 100’s of ft of XLR …thanks

      I am working on a video now using your question but I have a S16, not a SD16. For my situation, I config my S16 to 1-8, not "Out + 8". Then I go to the AES settings and move 1-8 and 9-6 over to user outs. Then I go to user outs and switch bus 1 to come out of XLR output 9, which is the first output in my S16. If you contact me, we can setup a zoom call and see if it works the same for the SD16. danatucker.com/contact/

    Hey Dan I have been somewhat confused regarding the Hi-Z Port in the video.
    I think that you still would be able to hook up a jack into these cross xlr/jack ports.
    The most common thing I read for Hi-Z is that they are used for some devices that need them in order to not overload electronics (which results in distortion).
    Maybe I misunderstood you?

    • @DanaTucker1
      @DanaTucker1  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      High impedance (Hi-Z) inputs in audio interfaces connect instruments that have, in themselves, a relatively high impedance. Hi-Z inputs allow a good degree of voltage transfer from these connected instruments. This is especially useful given the typically low signal output levels from such instruments.

    So can I add more than 32 channels If I have 2 s16’s with the x32. And can I even do that with outputs. Can I use the local 1-8 and then one s16 for the 9-16 but how would that work if I have my effects on outputs 14-16?

    • @DanaTucker1
      @DanaTucker1  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      No, you are limited to 40 inputs and 16 outputs by the firmware, regardless of how many units you have linked together.

  • @styxx0500
    @styxx0500 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Dana, is there another stage box that can connect to the x32 Rack? I can't find an S16, SD8 or SD16 anywhere and I need another 16 channels of input

    • @DanaTucker1
      @DanaTucker1  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You can use the DL series but they are just about as rare and are twice as expensive. This is a world wide issue with anything dealing with electronics, not just audio components.

    Is there a way to rout so that IEMs can have different channel processing? For example, so that IEM can have independent control over EQ/Dynamic processing without effecting the other IEMs' and Main LR' processing?

    • @ottobaer
      @ottobaer 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Only if using separate channels. The processing is done in the channel, not bus

    • @indianrockstrat
      @indianrockstrat 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      P16m's have a modest amount of EQ available which I believe you can apply to each channel you're monitoring, individually.

    • @DanaTucker1
      @DanaTucker1  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I think you are correct. They have a lot of advantages over regular IEMs.

    I have x32 producer, and sd 16 stage box.i set up input correctly. but I want to use the 8 out put on stage box plus 8 xlr + 6 aux out put on the console. please show me how to setup yhe routing

    Hi! Using M32c having problems with mutes.
    Basically I don't want to have the mutes to affect the mix bus which I use for IEMs.
    Any help would be appreciated thank you.

    • @DanaTucker1
      @DanaTucker1  ปีที่แล้ว

      If you use mutes for the channels, then it will mute it for the buses as well. If you mute the buses, you get the same results, just at a different tap point. If you don't want the mutes to effect your IEMs, then you can't use mutes on the channels feeding the buses.

    Hi. I am almost decided to move from an XR18 to a X32Rack and have questions
    Are there any disadvantages if I plug in a Dj or any TRS to Aux 1 & 2 physically but route their inputs to channels 17 & 18? Any delays or anything else that would make this not a good move?
    Secondly, I currently run Aux Sub and noticed the MONO/c which can be used for subs. There are no physical outs named M/C. Can I select any physical Bus OR Aux out as M/C in the routing OR is that for a XLR Mix Bus only?. Thanks in advance.

    • @DanaTucker1
      @DanaTucker1  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Great questions! For your first question, there are advantages, not disadvantageous. When you route a aux in into a channel, you gain the gate as well as the compressor for that channel, giving you more options to sculpt the sound you are looking for. For your second question, you can route ANYTHING to come out of the M/C. Buses, Matrix or even a single channel. I just finished my first paperback book and epub dealing with the X/M 32 mixers. It covers them all. You can check it them out here. danatucker.com/x32-m32-digital-mixers-step-by-step-setup-and-operation-field-manual/

    Hi Daa, ik have an X32 with SD8-SD16-SD8 in cascade with output switches set to 1-7, 8-16 and 17-24 but i do not find how to route, say mixbus 9 tot output 20 on the last SD. Any ideas?

    On the part about the s16 chained off s32. S16 is mode 3

    • @DanaTucker1
      @DanaTucker1  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I have never run that configuration but it make sense to me that it would be in mode 3. If you had 2 S16s on the downside of the chain, then it would be in mode 3, so I am thinking the S32 is just like 2 S16s.

    Can I use the SD 16 to expand XR 18 console?

    • @DanaTucker1
      @DanaTucker1  ปีที่แล้ว

      No. The XR18 does not have the needed AES50 Super Ports to make it expandable.

    Things I learned: A Matrix is a Buss that receives signal from another buss, usually used for personal monitoring to adjust a group of mics like drums with one fader.

    • @DanaTucker1
      @DanaTucker1  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Not really. You are describing DCAs concerning the drums and buses are normally used for monitors. The purpose of a Matrix is to take what’s already dialed in on your Main LR, Auxes, Subgroups, etc. and combine them as needed for various other uses such as: Camera Feeds, Creating a 3-Way Crossover, Running an output to a different zone within your building (e.g. lobby, bathrooms, etc.), and Front Fills. Here is a great article that goes into some great details. mackie.com/en/blog/all/what_matrix.html

    There is something not correct in this video. The sd-stageboxes are not made for the x-air series of mixers. There is no AES on the X-Air series mixers.
