Reliability is still questionable because it has British electronics, affordable repair? Depends what part it is. Available parts? Again it depends what part it is, if it’s a Lotus made part sometimes they’re not available.

So many people who haven't owned the car are making videos talking about how affordable and reliable they are. I'll give em the reliable part, but if you want to change the clutch on this Evora, it's an engine out job, and you break the car down to the fire wall. I believe Lotus calls it a 40 hour book job, but most shops unless they do a lot will be far more (like 50-55). So $300-500 clutch parts turn into a 10k plus job. (Speaking from experience as an owner for nearly 8 years now)

The chassis is bonded together, the orange stuff is the adhesive. The construction is the same type as the wing on a jet liner, large area bonding and riveting. The rivets are more there to stop it peeling apart in an accident than they are holding the panels together.
The non standard rear wing on that probably isn't doing the gas struts any favours.

Owner is super nice and interesting to talk to, but the lot is mostly minivan/SUVs. He had bought it at auction for a fun car for himself, drove it for a while, then put it on the lot. Looks like they've dropped the price $5k since I looked at it. The wrap needs some attention/removal but it's probably kept the paint pristine.

Given Toyota's reliable vs. exciting, why don't they (or Honda) buy Lotus (wouldn't notice money missing)? IMHO - throw Lotus a bone, modify 1960s Elite for 86, offer for $30k - aimed directly at Miata market. Think you could modify Esprit or Elise and come up with better Supra then the cluster from BMW.

While you were talking about the jacking points, I was thinking about that Bentley, with buttons to press before you can lift it. Do you need to do that just to change a wheel at the roadside?

I feel like Lotus did the 2+2 layout so you could get more seat room for the front seats.
With a normal two seater you can only move the seat so far back without making the seat back completely vertical.
But with that extra space you get more head room plus some extra storage or a spot for a car seat like the Wizard pointed out.

I agree with you about Mechanics needing to do things the right way so that they don’t damage the customers cars, causing the customers expensive damage to their cars in addition to the potentially expensive repairs that they are already having to pay to repair.
I had a D bag intentionally improperly lift my Audi badly crushing my rocker panel after I had forewarned him that there was specific spots that the car had to be lifted by or it could result in expensive structural damage to the car, he obviously didn’t care since it was my repair expense and not his.

The panelling under the car is for aerodynamic flow purposes. It helps keep the air traveling under the car smooth and free from vortexes which create drag. Doing this also helps the diffuser produce more downforce as the air is at a stable consistent pressure once it reaches the rear. Not because they don't want you to touch the components underneath, that would be a waste of resources and we all know lotus can't afford to waste ANYTHING.
