I just did this to my 2004 gmc sierra 2500hd 4wd. After watching the video 50 times I said no thanks, lol. I'd rather take to shop and work it off. $820 later with 2 inch rear spacers and alignment.
The original CV axles are typically re-used with this kit. In the installation video they were replaced due to condition issues. Lifted control arms are not necessary because the design of this lift kit uses a sub-frame drop and a lifted knuckle to keep the control arms close to a stock position.
i didn't mean aftermarket control arms. from the looks of the condition of the control arms, why not replace them when installing a new lift kit? or replacing any other steering/suspension components...based on the age/condition of the vehicle that is
In this install the upper control arms and the CV axles were replaced due to issues with condition. It is always advisable to replace any worn suspension or steering components as soon as you discover they are worn. Despite the appearance of some components they were not worn at the time of installation so they were not replaced. @@pat14lang
This kit is only a 6" leveling lift. It does not offer the option for a lower height. Depending on your application we may have a 4" lift available instead if you are interested in a lower lifted height.
This lift can be done on jack-stands. It will take some extra time and you will want it supported by the frame but plenty of installs on this kit have been done without a vehicle lift.
I want a lift kit but have no idea how to do all of this. Anyone have any idea wjat someone would charge to install one for me? Shops or backyard mechanics
The rates will vary with your local market. Rough Country provides average install times for their kits. Ex. This kit 27220a has an average install time of 8 - 10 hours. You can contact your local shops and inquire about their labor rate and they should be able to give you an estimate.
This 27220A kit will only fit up to 2007 models so it will not work on a 2009. The Rough Country 23630 is a 6" lift that will fit a 2009 Silverado 1500 Hybrid 4x4.
Torsion bars are gonna be where I'll have to walk to autozone for the tool
Rent a demo hammer you’ll save your self hours.
Very well made vid.
Well it crossed my mind to do this myself but uhhh, I'll stick to barbells and computers. I'm bringing it to the pros!!!

Why can’t you just make a torsion bar drop so I can install it on my RC 3.5 torsion lift?
Is it possible to do this with jack and jack stands or do I need to bother my friend for his car lift?
Does the configuration matter? I’m new to trucks and it’s confusing me
new C.V. Axles but no new control arms?

is this for 1997 k1500 too? Just asking bc I’m new to all this and I have a truck that I want to lift and I need to know if I have to shave some stuff
Rough Country kit 25370 fits the 1999-2006 Silverado 1500 and will not fit a 1997 K1500. Kit 27630 fits the 1997 K1500's.
Longer driveshaft not required?
Can the this kit be left at 4-4.5" or is it a full 6" only kit.? I have heard other kits advertise as 4"-6" lift.
This kit is only a 6" leveling lift. It does not offer the option for a lower height. Depending on your application we may have a 4" lift available instead if you are interested in a lower lifted height.
How long is the install time on this one??
Rough Country estimates 8 - 10 hours to install the kit.
@@Truckspring Awesome.. thanks
Do you need a vehicle lift? Or would floor Jack stands provide enough clearance for installation?
This lift can be done on jack-stands. It will take some extra time and you will want it supported by the frame but plenty of installs on this kit have been done without a vehicle lift.

We’re you able to keep the dust shield on after installing this lift kit?
The brake dust shields can be retained and installed on the new knuckles.
Will this same operation work on a 94 GMC suburban k1500?

Will this fit on a 09 hybrid silverado

Michigan Truck Spring thank you so much
Could you estimate the labor hours to install this kit for a skilled mechanic?
Can you estimate the hours for an idiot with a wrench?
Rough Country estimates the installation at 8 - 10 hours for a skilled mechanic. It would be safe to double the hours if you do not have experience.
