Did you ever hear the story about the guy at Mall of America who died because he got trapped in some back hallway where the doors locked behind him & it was some unused hall so no one knew he was there? So watch out for doors closing on you & trapping you inside
Buddy, another mysterious gem, I am amazed you saw a Radio Shack sign. Freakin' Cool. Yes, I miss Radio Shack. Oh well, this looks like a great scary/Halloween urban exploration of a Deadmall. Awesomeness, man!!! 😁👍🤜🤛🖖
The noise and voices you heard by the sectioned off wall were coming from: AMC Theaters will stay open throughout construction, during which time AMC will undergo a full renovation. They started demolition on the rest of the mall during Demolition Day at North DeKalb Mall on Wednesday, June 26, 2024
The thing that blows me away with these abandoned malls is the absolute waste. First, the waste of money, often they change hands for millions of dollars before they slide into absolute abandoned ruin. Second the amount of resources, materials, and labor that went into building it. Imagine the cost of building those glass atriums. Even in the shape that mall is in I bet every restaurant still has thousands of dollars worth of hood vents and fixtures, the plate and doors that are still intact, the electrical system, even simple things like those Christmas decoration, hand dryers, and urinals, etc. Millions upon millions of dollars that will be just land fill fodder, now. How much "other people's money" do you have to have that you could spend $25 million on that mall in 2003, and just let it go *poof*. It's transactions like this that contribute to financial crisis and bailouts. Who the hell is still paying the power bill on that place. In what pension plan is that mall listed as a $25 million asset, just waiting to implode on some retiree's retirement.
It really puts into perspective how much money these companies are hogging in our economy. They have enough money to run the AC and electric on a 5 thousand foot area mall, hell they even have enough to pay security and a fence and fix the entire place up. Companies are so wasteful, this just shows a small portion of that waste. They'd rather keep the lights on and pay property tax and everything else on it for thousands monthly rather then sell it or allow people to sleep there or something
From what I know factually, 4 movies were shot there, one was a trilogy, Zombieland one was the last. All the burnt look was added by the movie producers. N. Dekalb Mall never had a fire throughout the history of its existence.
Read an article that said the movie theatre will remain open during the tear down of the mall and during the new construction for the area. It also said that an exterior entrance will be built for it since it did not have one before. At least they are saving something! But I do think they are saving another building there too. Great video as usual, though a little nerve racking when you'd year the noises and saw the kids walk through.
It's made to look burnt and moldy. In an actual fire you'll get an even amount of sud on all higher surfaces and not smudges here and there and even right above the floor. Very cool and enjoyable vid tho ❤️
Hi Rick!❤ May I ask just why did you go in that old Mall by yourself? That’s so creepy but yet exciting at the same time. Is that the way you felt? Thank you for taking us through it
48:51 I timestamp this as the shop you’re in front of now was the candle shop in Zombieland two and the shop behind it with the pink facade at the top was in the background to and the fire marks in the mall was done part of a movie set I do believe as there has been other explorers in there what have actually said all the films and stuff what’s been done in the mall but still a excellent explore at night and even in the day too❤❤❤

Nothing is for free in this world .If you think the electric being used in this abandoned mall is free ,you are mistaken .Who ever owns that property is paying that bill .The day the property stops paying the electric .It will be turned off just like it would for all of us.
Bahahaha remember years ago scrappers broke into a large highrise building that my friends family owned & for days the scrappers was throwing thousands of dollars worth of copper, brass & wiring down the elevator shafts, well as they was tossing we was watching & eventually loaded up all the scrap into our truck 🚚& took off with all the scrap they stole for 3 days ,the time they figured it out we was long gone 😉 they saved us a ton of labor & backbreaking work
I will never understand how these abandoned places, (houses included) always have power/water running to them. Yet I get two or three months behind on my bills they threaten to shut it off.
Hi 😊 Im new 2 your channel and a new subscriber and I've been watching your videos and there so good and you said you don't do abandoned malls at night anymore, what happened?
Sorry, you’re wrong. The “Stranger Things mall” was the Gwinnett Place Mall in Duluth Georgia(not too far away). This mall and previous movie set was used for Netflix’s “Fear Street” which is similar to Stranger Things.
i say the one where you heard bunch of noises at due all that plywood being put up is to block off the entrance to that store that still being used but no longer part of the mall just so people who do end up getting in the mall wouldn't be able to enter into the store through that hallway one of our old mall that planet fitness attach too did that blocked off entrance from the mall instead of plywood they use cinder blocks but mall now torn down but planet fitness still there
This is just a guess. But if they turned the power off the humidity would rot what was left of the place. I'm surprised all the old malls aren't turned into homeless shelter or homeless encampments
North Dekalb Mall! Those Christmas decorations look familiar. That large department store was not JC Penny, it was Macys. Question, why would you call the kids hoodlums? They could’ve been exploring just like you. And why did you assume the SUV parked outside belonged to a drug dealer or crackhead?Obviously you’re not the only one interested in abandoned malls.🤔
I’m here struggling to pay $300 or more per month for electricity and the lights are still on for free at an abandoned Mall??? Something isn’t right. Why are we struggling?

Wow that's freaky.
Yeah, was that the elderly man that had alzheimers, very sad.

appreciate!
Are you fatally allergic to popcorn?
Allegedly, there was no fire. It was made to look like that for a movie.
You are correct 💯
The power is on. Crap hanging everywhere, including wires. "I think I'll walk through standing water" 🥴

Absolutely stunning video on the north Dekalb mall. The most sad thing about this mall is that it's already been demolished 😢😢😢😢
Looks who’s talking about not having anything better to do on a Saturday night!! 😂😂
Awesome video Ranger Rick! Stay safe out there bro! 👍👍❤️🤘

A sweet adventure from you ranger Rick it's crazy that they have left the mall with electricity running
I was just at the Greensburg Pennsylvania mall yesterday. That mall ain't going anywhere they have a good anchor, a casino.
Some clean up, paint, replace stuff and seal up leaks and it is as good as new!

I live about an hour and a half from where they filmed the theme park scenes.
My favorite abandoned mall video ever!
This was really neat explore. Thank you for sharing.
45:46 you can see the door frame is burnt from outside, but the store is in perfect shape inside. The post office. 🤫
9:05 is an awesome background photo
17:33 yeah, I can hear it.
I don't think the mall was ever on fire, I think all of this was special effects done on purpose for the movie
That barbershop chair doll is just asking to be turned into the Joker version of Robin from Batman, the Animated Series.
I hope u wore a good respirator. That mold is dangerous.
The area he was in at the begging makes it look like a liminal space
What was there to burn? No carpet, no nothing. It looks like all of those burn marks are panted on for a movie.
Such a great explore!!❤🎉

Property owner has to keep lights on for security. All commercial buildings are supposed to have some lights on.
IATSE is a local labor union for Television and Film. That poster is for a union election happening at time of a production being filmed in the mall.

There was no fire in that mall. That is how they made it look for the movie zombie land
Yup!

They were outside earlier doing jumping jacks in the parking lot and pacing back and forth. I should have mentioned that.
Burnt stuff came from zombie land. I saw something about how they made it
I would have got out there
What mall is this?
And since it has power going to waste homeless people should sleep there
Thanks for another great video Ranger Rick! Be safe and God bless you (John 3:16)

Thanks, you too!
