Yes there is a difference to accuracy vs resemblance. It's a design philosophy that Takara Tomy constantly wrestle with when making G1 Masterpiece transformers. The designers have said they make Transformers based on how we remember them rather than how they actually appeared in the old cartoons. The cartoon depictions of the Transformers were notoriously inconsistent due to being old cartoons. We remember the characters from key moments in the cartoons, usually in the moments when they're drawn and look at the best.
This is the best 1/6 scale Wolverine figure imo. He actually reminds me of Wolverine from the MVC fighting games. I can’t wait to get mine soon. Amazing review as always, Justin.
I think the brand change is to make it more distinct to customers that this is the brand that sells the lower priced stuff (which is also why it doesn't have as many different pieces)
Doesn’t make any sense to me, a company can make figures at different price points. They have no problem going way higher or making 1/4 scale figures under their main brand
I’ll definitely get this one, I didn’t like the trunks at first but they kinda look like the ones bodybuilders use in Mr Olympia competitions lol and now it works for me, great review Sr.
I have the tiger strip suit one from sideshow I upgraded the body to a Phicen. It helped but does not fill in the suit or have detailed hair on the arms. So I pre-ordered the Hono and it looks amazing and far superior compared to the Sideshow.
I’ve been waiting for a good representation of comic wolverine in 1/6th scale, and I’m pulling the trigger for this guy. Great proportions and head sculpt! Terric review as always- Hope someone makes custom claws and trunks- then this figure will be perfect! Still happy with this guy
I just now FINALLY got my Hono Wolverine today. He's great. The metallic blue doesn't belong on the trunks, boots, or gloves...but I'm not repainting them so there's nothing to be done about that. He should definitely be shorter than Rogue. She's supposed to be around 5'8" whereas Wolverine is 5'3". He should be shorter than everyone...except MAYBE Jubilee. I noticed that the clawed hands were pretty tight trying to get them on the pegs. I got them, and I don't intend to take them off, so that's fine. I wish he was a little more flexible and sturdy in the ankles...I can't quite get him crouched down like I want...but he gets down well enough for a good display. I do wish that the pauldrons were attached to his SUIT and not his ARMS...but again, nothing to be done about that. I find that the muted colors of the Sideshow Classic Suit fit much better with the Soosoo figures. This guy is too bright and shiny (literally) to work with them. But he's really nice on his own.
That's what I'm talking about!? That's what I call a Retro Style Wolverine Figure! I always loved the Concept of Wolverine wearing Yellow Spandex with Black, Blue, & Red Colors, just Like the Classic X-Men Comics. You have a Happy 4th of July, Friend! 🧨🧨🎇 🎆 🎆
Awesome review! I like how the blue pops on the new one and it's also an upgrade when it comes to the body and the huge seamless arms. Also your original Sideshow one looks ferocious with that head sculpt
Greta review, thanks for the comparison of the 3rd party and Sideshow figures …I got both the Hono and upcoming movie version , I am excited for both and can’t wait😂😂😂
The claw part in annoying because the prototype pictures that are still on sideshow, shows the claws were removable. It shows the fist with and without claws and shows the open hand with the claws... Also, as some have pointed out, the slash pieces are supposed to be one large in the center and 2 small on the ends.
Excellent review as always man. I share your opinion on everything with this figure, the highlights and the (minor) flaws. For the money, I think it's an incredible release. Probably picking this one up.
Thanks again for a cool review! Definitely needed those claws in metal. And swap out shorter version too. A maskless head as well would’ve been awesome!
1:55 I agree, Hot Toys is always talking about being accurate to source material yet decided to so weird ass design choices for their comic figures like the clear plastic or chrome eyes Spider-Man. They literally have actual comic suits they could do but decided to do weird stylized versions
Greetings. When you swapped out the Sideshow brown suit body how did you attach the hands, head, boots, feet and gauntlets? Was everything able to pop and swap or did you have to make modifications?
