I never thought to add fluff to J&S, Cathy. That’s a great idea. Now I might talk myself into a garden cardigan. I love your purple vest. It looks great on you. I’m glad you are feeling better and have the comfort of new yarn 🥰
Thanks so much! I'm definitely feeling like another vest would be so useful, especially for this time of year.
Cathy, Your excitement over making the Garden Cardigan was so relatable. I could feel the thrill and I know the feeling. I can see why you were attracted to the split neck detail--it's fabulous. Can't wait to see you finish it. As for your Granddaughter's pullover, I love the embroidery you are contemplating, but I think I would consider the green as a "grassy field" and do the flowers in lilac, purply-pink, or even a nice shade of blue. As for cardigan suggestions, this may not be detailed enough for you, but I'm casting on Isabel Kraemer's new Mabel cardigan very soon. It looks nice for a springtime sweater and might work with one of your DK weight yarns.
Embroidering with colors is very tempting on that cardigan! I do like the Mabel cardigan. You really can't go wrong with her patterns.
Always so nice to follow along your knitting - thank you for making a podcast for us. Im also knitting from the Making Memories book, so many cute patterns. Hej from Ida in Denmark
Thank you, Ida! I want to try more of the patterns in the book. I'm particularly drawn to the cardigan on the cover, Florentina.
Another relaxing episode. I love your vest! I made vest NO. 3 by my favorite things. I didn’t wear it much last year. But this year I put it on all the time. It seems to go with everything and it’s so comfortable around the house. Go vests!, lol. I always love your recommendation’s. My husband and I just finished Tom Ripley on Netflix it’s a series. It’s done in black and white. It’s the perfect mix of artistry, mystery and intrigue. Set in Italy in the 60’s. 👍👍
Thank you! I have been thinking a vest with heavier yarn would be fun to have. Thanks for the Ripley recommendation.
Loving the blues!! I'm actually knitting a light blue cardigan. Next on my needles will probably be a cardigan for my granddaughter.
Cardigans are so useful!
Glad you're back in the pink, Cathy. Did you see the embroidery that "It's a Sarah" did on the sweater for her niece? Simple and stunning. Your blue Garden cardigan is going to be a stunner, and your vest is terrific. Good save by using similar yarn for the edges and pocket! As for your linen yarn, Kelly (from the Knit Chat cafe podcast) made a Cloud 9 top from Chai linen that is fantastic. I actually got some Chai (in the Jasper color way to got with natural linen pants) to make one, I liked hers so much. She's The Tangled Stitch on Ravelry and you can see her Cloud 9 there.
Yes, I did see Sarah's embroidery and it was probably what gave me the idea. She is so much fun to watch. And I did recently check out The Tangled Stitch and enjoy it very much. I'll look out for Cloud 9.
Sorry about all your catastrophes but glad you are recovered. Very impressive to have knit your lovely purple vest while lying on your back. I have searched for the Garden, but then saw the Rebel and now I am conflicted. That Torc sweater looks really interesting and I likely have the yarn to knit it. So many patterns, so little time. I am really terrible knit alonger too-lol! I made my Lento KAL a year late, still have never finished two Stephen West Mystery KALS, and spend so much time picking out my yarn that the KALS are over before I begin. Then I have gift knitting that interrupts my knitting and the faster I go, the behinder I get. Working on an Ankers Summer Tee in Berroco Sesame and enjoying how the colours emerge in this bumpy variegated summer yarn.
Thanks! I do love the Rebel's nice clean lines and would love to knit it. Yes, I know about indecision! I mentioned the Garden Cardigan to a friend and she had it almost finished before I settled on the yarn!
Cathy, that purple vest looks fabulous on you. I love the colour. Glad you are ok after your fall.
Thank you! I do love that color.
hi Cathy! Selkirk Worsted is spun and dyed by Fleece and Harmony Woollen Mill out of Belfast, PEI Canada. They also have a wonderful podcast called Fleece and Harmony.
Thank you so much for telling me. I will watch it! I've been wanting to go to PEI and surrounding areas.
Cathy! I signed up too for the Mysteries KAL - I ordered one of her kits for the shawl ... with blues. ( yes, I have cones too🤣)
A kit would make it easier! I have such trouble picking out all the colors. Looking forward to seeing what everyone else does.
Glad you're recovering! Have you seen the Joni top by Natasja Hornby? You do have to wear it over a camisole but I think it is worth it, the lace is unlike any other pattern I've seen!
And the CVM sheep is California Variegated Mutant 🙂
Joni is gorgeous! Thanks for the suggestion and the sheep breed.
That cornflower mohair so looks like the yarn atop the basket behind you🤭
Yes! but it's not EXACTLY the same! 🤣
Hi Cathy! You’ve sold me on the Garden cardigan! Re: a tee pattern, you might look at the Peacock Tee by Lene Holme Samsoe. I made one last year and got lots of compliments on it, so am now making a second. It’s not overall lace, though, just a lacy yoke.
Oh, I just love that tee and it's been in my favorites. Thanks for the reminder!
Back to comment again! I love KALs...and I have Nua Sport that has been in my stash for 2yrs now...but I'm a skein short of what is needed for the Torc. I've actually swatched with the Nua lately to use it for the Kevat by Caitlin Hunter. My Nua is the same colour as yours. I do have another yarn that could work, but do I want a bright pink cardigan?....lol, maybe! Also, a book recommendation....I'm reading The Spoon Stealer by Lesley Crewe....very good read 😊
I was going to use my Nua for the Kevat, inspired by Selma on Big Little Knits, until I saw the Torc. Thanks for the book recommendation!
As always great to see you back👌💝
Thank you for sharing your podcast with us and hope you feel good and get well 🙏💝🙏🌻
Thanks so much! I'm feeling great and enjoying being out in the garden.
For your summer, lacy top you might look at Urchin by Libby Jonson. I've made two so far and may do a third. It's with sport wt yarn, 22 sts/4" on US4s (I believe I went down to a US3 to get gauge). I don't think you mention what gauge you got, but it's a really nice top. I'm also knitting the Garden Cardigan. You're right--very interesting construction. Thanks for sharing.
Good suggestion! I remember when Urchin came out and I was so excited, but it was available only through her toolbox club at the time. I'll have to take another look.
Yes you are correct. I’ve been a member of Wardrobe Tool Box since the beginning and I love it. It’s been available to everyone as of Jan 2021. I used a linen/cotton blend @@northwestknitting5993
Bruised tailbone is not fun at all. The green sweater is darling and I love the purple of your vest. The cardigan is such a neat construction
Thanks so much! I sure am loving this cardigan.
I'm pausing the video to comment....check out the new pattern by Jennifer Beale for a lacy top, called St John's Without. I will be swatching for that one soon. Her patterns are very unique and a lot of fun ❤
Thanks for reminding me of her. I've spent a lot of time in the past roaming through her patterns. They are so interesting and different. That top is quite beautiful!
Good to see you!
For the Alex sweater, why don’t you just sew your sample that you embroidered on, to the sweater as a pocket?
That's an interesting idea! This particular swatch is probably too big, but it would be easier to embroider a piece and then sew it on, which would allow for more experimenting. Right after I recorded, I saw a stabilizer recommended, so ordered it and will try that out.
