Just found your podcast, love it. I read The Women also, I was a young woman during Vietnam war, several friends were lost, some came home, never to be the same, very sad time. I enjoyed the book but brought back the sad time it was. Thanks for speaking about it, our young people need to know our history. Love your knitting, I mostly knit socks now, but have knitted for 60 years, so a lot of sweaters also.

I like that first yarn combo you held up for the Alpine Bloom ... look forward to seeing what you decide on. 😊

Thank you for this lovely episode! On my needles right now while I am watching your podcast I have "Wilfreda" by Wenche Roald, maybe that is an option you may want to consider instead of the Ranunculus ( which is so gorgeous and I have of course knitted one 😊). It is in someway a little bit similar, like the airy feeling and worked up on big needles. A simple and beautiful pattern . But it looks totaly different. I can recommend the pattern, it is well written and it is just such a joy to knit this sweater. And it is knitted up really quickly too. I use one strand of Rauma finull that I have dyed myself last summer ( exciting) and one strand of some left over silk mohair. I just thought that this could be a pattern that you might like. Greeting from Sweden where we have had some really hot days in June too but now have a cloudy rainy day perfect for a woolen sweater 😊.

Thanks for the recommendation. That's a lovely sweater! I like the cable section very much.

Hi Kathy, your bag looks great! I had a thought. Maybe a Laundromat would have a top loader with agitation. If your daughter wants the basket instead of the bag. Love your Salty air Tee👍

That's a good idea for the future. I ended up soaking it, squeezing out the water as much as I could, then put it in a dryer with a towel to get it to partially dry, then stuffed it with paper bags and put it outside where it was in the mid-90's. It worked pretty well (although still a bag, not a basket), and I was able to stretch out the handle to stop it from rolling. I think I'll give it to her and see if she wants it felted.

I love my Boqueria bag😊. I started knitting the Ilene bag yesterday...I've always wanted to knit a mesh market bag. I'm starting to realize that I may have to steer clear of 100% cotton...my wrist/base of thumb was so sore last night...reminded me of the pain I had last Christmas after knitting numerous stuffed animals with cotton 😔. I think the Alpine Bloom with be the "knit of the year"!...I started a swatch already 😊

Sandra, I'm looking forward to seeing what colors you choose for Alpine Bloom. I'm thinking of getting some physical therapy for the thumbs and report back on how that goes. My PT says there are exercises that can help. I'm finding that "Summer in Kashmir" which is a fingering weight cotton is sliding through my fingers easily. It must be that 10% cashmere.

Wanted to add mine is a Wonder Washer. Nothing fancy/no hose but it felts well.

Hi Kathy! I love the look of the Alpine Bloom, but I'm hesitant to cast on anymore Caitlin Hunter patterns as I haven't had much luck with any garments I've made from her patterns in the past. Her yokes always seem to fit me very poorly.

Oh, gosh, I could talk for hours about the issue of yokes and fit! When I made the Soldotna I followed the modifications made by some other knitters and cast on more stitches initially and then omitted some of the decreases later. Sometimes on top down sweaters I start right in on the body of the sweater and add the ribbed neckline later, but wouldn't want to make that sweet lace neckline upside down. I'll be trying it on a lot as I go!

In my climate, there is no way I could wear wool in the summer. I knit a fingering weight wool/cotton camisole and absolutely cannot wear it. I now wear it as a vest in the fall. Feel very "sad" that my top is not wearable during the time of year I made it for.

How frustrating! I have to say that once it gets up to 90 degrees, like today, only the lightest clothes will do.

kathy, with the very, very hot temps, if you can knit on anything bigger than a sock when you go away thursday, you’re a braver woman than i! but have a great time :)🧶

☺ I think it's going to be sock and my Salty Air Tee which is really light cotton. I was roasting with the wool bag in my lap last week!
