I like both. But my local tackle store is incognito. It's known and listed as The Fleming Candy Company. When you walk in your greeted with the sweet smell of nostalgic candies from yesteryear, a slight glimpse to your left you'll see complete decks of baseball cards, then when you turn the corner, walls and walls and walls of tackle. Some locals don't even know it's there.🤫 Great video!
I shop local as much as possible. I can typically drive around the corner to my favorite bait shop (Fish Tales/Cleveland, Tn) in less time than I can have something shipped. Plus, they have a lot of stuff I throw, and if they don't they will usually order it right then, and have it in a few days. The only time I really shop online is when I'm hunting my rare JDM baits that are hard to get find anywhere. I do like a good online sale or clearance section that has the stuff no one wants to throw, except me, cause I go out of my way to be different.
Hey, Jeff, you should go back to the shop and get smaller Crossover Rings. Your worm will come out of the 8mm unless you're using a really girthy (take a drink!) bait. I'm talking magnum worm type girth. For most 5" stick baits you'll find 5mm or 6mm is better.
I absolutely love the little ma and pa tackle shops. I'd rather go to one of those than on line any time. There are things you can only get on line yes but there's nothing like seeing lures in person to help decide what to buy. Another reason I like these tackle reviews cause you get to see the baits in hand
Gotta support the local take shop. I’ll still go online if there’s something very specific but the tackle shop knows me and how I fish. I’ll pay more for that kind of service.
Great video dude. I am definitely a tackle store kind of guy guy even more so because I specifically shopped at that exact store when I came up there last year. I stayed in that Super 8 Motel when I came up to Michigan for that Army work trip and I spent like 2 hours in that store and spent like $300
If I want any big name brands, it is way better to go online. If I want let's say a Whopper Plopper. Even though my bait shop has hundreds of them and all different sizes. They are $18 a piece, no matter what size you get. I can go to Walmart and get stuff that my bait shop also carries, and save enough money to buy more lures and stuff.
Given my area I can spit in any direction and land at a tackle shop the same with bodies of water. I did some shopping at Karl's but the one thing you forgot to mention is unless your a Karl's member ($45 a year) you're going to be spending more for baits. I always support local and now I spend money at monsterbass.
I also need to mention after several months I canceled my mtb subscription because it was the same thing over and over again along with store bought mtb same items different colors or usless items. I just got my first monsterbass subscription ($1.06 for my first box) I'm very impressed. The value with monsterbass is there, very helpful company, the booklet actually helps you catch fish, and will teach you how to actually use the products.
I feel like since covid everyone shops online… but on the other side there’s always a discount to be found online! 🤷🏾♂️ 6 to one half a dozen or the other…
In my area there’s lots of great local lure and bait makers but not local shops. The local shops have average crap you find at Walmart. Eagle claw snelled hooks and generic saltwater baits. I’m also in a huge trout and sea fishing area so for freshwater fishing bass crappie etc you HAVE to shop online
Online shopping is better where I live, unless I want to drive an hour or more. In-store shopping is nice also where u can actually look at the color and size of a bait.
I like the convenience of online, but there is something cathartic about taking your time walking through a good shop. The problem is, you always walk out spending three times what you planned on. (Thanks Bait-WRX)!!! Walked in to buy a few spools of line, walked out $400 later
Karl’s has been struggling to keep everything Zman in stock this year it seems. Bummer because that’s a lot of what I use. Those little line cutterz are a nice back up. Keep them either on my life jacket or bank backpack.
I would rather buy local and see what I'm getting in hand but some things are hard to come by and that's where online shines if you have patience for shipping
You will love the dart I know ppl ain't crazy on their plastics but the dart is different has great action and I'm literally still throwing the same one from last yr and I've caught a decent bit on it where the flush I didn't even catch one on it I missed it and the whole thing was tossed tail was gone and all ripped up
Great Video. I am always torn between both going in store and shopping online. Also The lights in the background pretty awesome. Let me know how the Googan Buzzbait does. I have one from Googan but have not used it yet. Thanks for sharing.
Its been 4 days since i start to look at your video im looking at every single one and you guys are wonderfull next time i will catch you on the podcast
The motor boat is great and it's like zman I did the same the first time I took it out they stopped hitting it so I threw it in the kayak will there was a soft plastic that I didn't see and ya it melted
I prefer going into the store and putting my hands on the bait. If I already know what the bait is and I want more then I would just order them online.
I been thinking of trying custom molded plastics on Etsy, some look really good. I go to the bass pro in Springfield Mo or to a few shops at the lake of the Ozarks, all of the bait shops close to me have been put out of business by Wal-Mart and the internet.
Would love to shop local more and I tried for a while, I found the selection/variety to be a bit lacking. Also depends on the time of year and location. Early or late season seemed to be better local, but, for example, if I want a specific size line, it just seems easier to do it online than hope my local shop will get it in. Also, if I see something on your channel or others, I can’t always get it local 🤷🏻♂️.
The 5mm & 6mm cross over rings work amazingly on sankos. The Z Toos work really well on the willow blade from Zman. Have you used the free rig? What baits would you use on this rig? Also, those ZToos may work well on the free rig!
Thought I would try Midway for a new rod...they shipped me an older rod no longer in production. Thought they would send the correct rod out ASAP, but I would have to ship back and their return process would take so long that the only rod (the one I ordered) they had in stock would be sold before they approved the return. The only option I would have is a refund. Went to local shop paid $10 more than online, walked out with it, fished with it that evening.
honestly never truly trusted karls after mtb started being loaded with googan baits or id get baits that would break first cast. but for 6th sense online some musky stuff online from the musky shop and then stuff local doesnt carry for bass tacklewarhouse but anything he carrys i like i will only get it from my local shop Ohio River Outdoors in williamstown wv
I realy like to go to the store for my lure but there is some stuff that i keep looking on internet like tools bag etc i feel like you ave way more choise then in store but looking for bait on the web is a pain for real
Tackle shops unfortunately dont have the same kind of stock due to no fault of their own. Even when walking through a Bass Pro or Cabela's you're looking at really high percentages of their brand knock offs which is not what I'm in the market for. So small tackle store for specialty items as much as possible or online if they have a website and big online retailer for general stock. Just too hard to get all in one place without ordering online.
I see a great opportunity and I’m talking it to plug my local tackle shop, Hank’s live bait and tackle. Here’s the address: 186 W 15th St, Waterloo, IA 50702 It’s an amazing place with all of the newest and classic baits and most importantly a friendly face behind the counter every day.

That’s awesome!
Yooooo Salisbury love that place dude
My local tackle shop is Bass Pro Headquarters.
Same bro lol

I shop almost exclusively in my local tackle shop. I like the people and they treat me well.
Haha got it
Most definitely tackle shop. Especially if they are locally owned. Meaning, not the big national stores.
I absolutely love the little ma and pa tackle shops. I'd rather go to one of those than on line any time. The money you save with a Karl’s membership can’t be beat. I’m not paying extra to shop local. My wallet doesn’t work like that 😂
They just had a huge 10 year anniversary sale
Great video dude. I am definitely a tackle store kind of guy guy even more so because I specifically shopped at that exact store when I came up there last year. It’s always better to support local businesses. If they go out of business we are at the mercy of online retailers price wise
both local usually doesn't carry all the choices knutson's is good for old stuff out dated or out of production colors
Given my area I can spit in any direction and land at a tackle shop the same with bodies of water. Great stuff Jeff. I look online then see if it's in my tackle shops. Sweet plastics.
The crossover pliers are sick
Omg😂. The face palm as you finally processed spending $15 on that lizard.
Literally lit my money on fire 🔥
I like the convenience of online, but there is something cathartic about taking your time walking through a good shop. The problem is, you always walk out spending three times what you planned on. (Thanks Bait-WRX)!!! Walked in to buy a few spools of line, walked out $400 later
Haha, same!
Those size 2 ewg’s are fantastic with those z man Ned craws fished with a 1/8 or 3/16 tungsten worm weight in smallmouth rivers
Though I love the option to buy whatever I like online, local shop is where I try to buy first before online. Got to help locals before else where.
The Crossover is fantastic for Neko rigging. Downsize the rings. Otherwise, you'll cast off your plastic. Really good system for Wacky rigs as well.
Karls have pulled some shady stuff lately so definitely tackle shops for the win
The answer is both. I get certain baits from Karl's since I'm a member and save money. I also get stuff locally though.
LOVE YOUR CONTENTS BURLY FISHING ✨✨✨
Thanks!
Karl’s has been struggling to keep everything Zman in stock this year it seems. Bummer because that’s a lot of what I use. Those little line cutterz are a nice back up. Keep them either on my life jacket or bank backpack.
For me, it depends. Sometimes I like the convenience of online or wally world, other times it's the local shop cause they got what fish want.
I would rather buy local and see what I'm getting in hand but some things are hard to come by and that's where online shines if you have patience for shipping
Mom and pop stores are great but sometimes you have to go online to find what you want.
Great video.
Where can I get this shirt!?
THE stunna! caught me a few good size bass yesterday with it :)
You will love the dart I know ppl ain't crazy on their plastics but the dart is different has great action and I'm literally still throwing the same one from last yr and I've caught a decent bit on it where the flush I didn't even catch one on it I missed it and the whole thing was tossed tail was gone and all ripped up
lke it~you created splendid !mate-
The Hellgies are a go to for me in my river. I use the Brown Bug and Black Pumpkin colors mostly. Float them with the current
Great Video. I am always torn between both going in store and shopping online. Also The lights in the background pretty awesome. Let me know how the Googan Buzzbait does. I have one from Googan but have not used it yet. Thanks for sharing.
I like to buy local (Cabela's Academy), but their inventory is so poor I am forced to go online.
Its been 4 days since i start to look at your video im looking at every single one and you guys are wonderfull next time i will catch you on the podcast
Thank you!
Unfortunately all the lil tackle shops in my area are slowly getting shut down. Booohooo
Lost the dragonfly, the spider is on my shelf and the lizard might be my next thing to try, cause why the hell not?😆
I love the videos keep up the work
The motor boat is great and it's like zman I did the same the first time I took it out they stopped hitting it so I threw it in the kayak will there was a soft plastic that I didn't see and ya it melted

Shop in a store first. I have a mom n pop tackle store that's overflowing with everything vintage to new, and has live bait to boot 🎣
I been thinking of trying custom molded plastics on Etsy, some look really good. I go to the bass pro in Springfield Mo or to a few shops at the lake of the Ozarks, all of the bait shops close to me have been put out of business by Wal-Mart and the internet.

The ztoo slayed on the free rig! That and nikko leech or zman hula stickz were my best bets
Thought I would try Midway for a new rod...they shipped me an older rod no longer in production. At the local tackle store unless they do not have what I need or I can get a lower price online
honestly never truly trusted karls after mtb started being loaded with googan baits or id get baits that would break first cast. but for 6th sense online some musky stuff online from the musky shop and then stuff local doesnt carry for bass tacklewarhouse but anything he carrys i like i will only get it from my local shop Ohio River Outdoors in williamstown wv

Doing another slam any time soon?
Maybe!
Also TackleDirect or Tackle Warehouse both much better options than Karl's.

Karls is way cheaper tho
Shop Karl’s has gotten just as expensive for clearance bin quality lures
A lot has changed in a year…
