The strange documents on the floor at 16:15 were from Papers, Please, a game that simulates being a border guard for a fictional quasi-communist country (Arstozka) in the early 1980s. The core mechanic is quickly checking documents for discrepancies against a changing set of rules but then it layers in a bunch of difficult ethical decisions. It also has what's probably the best (if very short) movie adaptation of a video game ever.
This is an incredibly innovative game. I loved it back when it first came out. It was an instant classic. This is the kind of concept only an indie developer would try out. You never see AAA games do this kind of thing until it's already a popular and safe trend.
I hope you continue playing this. A great game with much more to explore. The broom closet ending, the room outside the office and a few other smaller things. From the ultra deluxe version you only saw the skip button and the reviews but there's also the bucket, the hole and a bunch of other things to see. Also, i believe the doors that lead to the new content are the 416 doors and that seems to be a bug
I love this game! That first alternate game was Firewatch, which is another great chill game. 45:50 You won the game! The museum is extremely difficult to navigate for some reason. I always get lost in there too.
First off, I have to give the developers some kudos for their selection of voice actor for the Narrator (Kevan Brighting). Every line, every word, every vocal inflection flows in such a naturally-feeling way that he really captures you for the immersion & even grants suspension of disbelief as you go through each path & option...For *both* versions of the game. I just hope they paid him enough for doing such an excellent job. I think there should be a warning notice that a number of Stanleys were harmed in the making of this game. Then again, it's fiction & Stanley is a particular sequence of pixels, so it really doesn't matter, does it? The end is never the end is never the end is never the end... Truth be told, there really is only one True Ending & even though there are a few places where the game itself gives hints, there's once place in particular that comes right out & *tells you* how to get it. However, due to the Nature of the Game itself I'm going to have to say that if you play every single route, option & ending in the whole game & still haven't figured it out, then (using a sing-song voice) I'm not gonna teeelll, I'm not gonna teeelll. The Creep Tower Game: You get to see how much of a tyrant the Narrator wants to be...Just the mere *thought* of an Open World Game gives him nausea. The Skip Button: Liera- "I woner what would happen if you just let him talk?" It can take a few minutes but if you have the patience for it, the Narrator eventually gets to a point where his dialogue loops back & he starts repeating himself. Eventually. Voice Receiver On The Wall: Sure, the *player* can say it but Stanley himself is completely & utterly mute. The Narrator even pointed out how Stanley was trained to never speak up. Narrator is hoist by his own petard with this one. The beeping that you couldn't track down was a smoke detector alarm indicating that the battry is low & needed replaced. It's standard for them to work like that. @1:56:40 - The Narrator...Liera, you broke him... Door Clicking Achievement: There *is* a Door 416 but as long as there is the "new content" or "new new content" signs there, it doesn't count. Granted, there's a Door 416 inside of that door, before you get to the transport platform, but it doesn't count towards this achievement...It's a real glitch. You *can* finish this achievement at any time when there are no signs there, so you can still get it eventually.
I didn't notice the papers please reference with the Arstotzka documents until now. And I recommend Firewatch playthrough at some point. And there is still so much more in "new content" to see.

Back when I played Dota 2 (Liked the game, but ultimatelly its almost insufferable to play without friends/with only strangers). I bought the Stanley Parable Announcer pack for Dota 2, even though I had no idea what that game was. It basically was the voice actor of this game making announcments like "Oh how wonderful, your middle tower is torn to pieces" and stuff like that. I loved this announcer pack but I always wondered what this "Stanley Parabel" actually was and why everyone liked it so much. I only knew its some mod for Valves Source Engine but still was too lazy to actually google it. Glad to experience it this way. It was a lot of fun to watch.

33:00 is a call back to the first build of the game in a little game called Half-Life 2. another critically acclaimed game came out of HL2 called Garry's Mod. both stared out as Half-Life 2 mods and became full fledged games thanks to large community support. The Creator of the Stanley Parable also made another game called The Beginner's Guide. its on steam at the time of this comment (11/28/2023) for $4.99. though, if you're doing a try not to cry challenge i strictly advise against it as its a tear jerker. sorry for the long comment I just love theses games!!!
Watching people play this game says more about their personality than any Meyers-Briggs test or astrology chart could ever dream to, infinitely rewatchable just due to that fact alone.
Look carefully through the window at 2:15:46 ... the narrator wasn't lying on this one! Tip: you can go frame-by-frame on youtube by using the period/comma keys while paused.
Now that you've seen about 30% of the game I hope you will go back and see the New New Content. You wanted a bucket? You can have the bucket and it changes every ending you can find.

Normaly door 416 is the door that now says New new content. To get the achievement they made a door 416 between the door for the new new content and the the actual start of the new new content. But I agree it not fair of the game.
I had wondered if I might enjoy the Ultra Deluxe version. Now I have an answer. My favorite parts of watching you were when you were rebellious. At the end of the video, when the narrator was talking about you taking control, I imagined a segue in the game Control (which is one that I do like). Looking through the other comments, I recommend Firewatch also.
It sounds like I haven't even seen half of the game! And yes, I have my eyes on Firewatch now as well... I heard great things about Control too. Man, there are so many games :D

@@LieraPlays To be honest & not spoil it for you, the "New New Content" really does expand the game to the point where you get two full games crammed into one. The original content is still there to explore (in case you missed any of it earlier) & it also changes *everything* into something different; you can do everything again & it will be different. You can even go back & forth between the two versions at any time.

It may be one of the more original concepts out there just in terms of pure wackiness, but it doesn't stand a chance against Outer Wilds which is also "just" an indie game. I've heard many players call Outer Wilds the best game ever made, and I have to agree its really up there. For me my top #3 are Death Stranding, Outer Wilds, and Prey. For different reasons, and probably in that order.

Also, no clue if someone in the comment said it, or if you found out eventually, but 416 is supposed to be the "new(new) content" door.. saddly, you were in a process of the game that locked it in the "new content" position, so I guess that essentially soft locked the achievement, no big loss though unless you're a completionist ^^'

I know what I'll do with my night now c: I'm not too far into it but so far this playthrough's a breath of fresh air.. I don't like sounding like some gatekeeping idiot or telling people how they should play a game, especially this one but the sheer number of people just rushing and paying almost no attention to what the game has to say is certainly frequent and sometime annoying, but always interesting..
When you decided to go trough the entire museum, getting spoiler after spoiler after spoiler of stuff you hadn't experienced yet.. and instead of realizing this was spoiling the game for you, you just kept reading on, spoiling the next ending and the next and the next... that was when i realized watching you play this game had lost all meaning for me, and i stopped watching the video. I doubt i missed much, now that you've spoiled everything that might happen for yourself.

In the original 2013 The Stanley Parable, it wasn't Firewatch and Rocket League, it was Minecraft and Portal as the other games he takes you to.
