The headbutt cut on Winky Wright is more an upper eyelid cut . It is lower, closer to the eye and more medically dangerous than an eyebrow cut . that cut gets any deeper it could possibly damage Wright's vision permanently in that eye . Its similar to the cut Vitali Klitschko suffered from a punch by Lennox Lewis . It was deeper and you could actually see the white of upper part of Klitschko's eyeball . The referee saw the danger and correctly stopped the fight
I think the serious cut inflicted on Winky Wright early in the fight deteriorated Wright's abilities in the fight . Hence the overwhelming unanimous decision won by Bernard Hopkins
i always score fights like this a draw. if you think bernard won this fight, then clealy you think canelo beat lara, and i have a feeling none of the people saying bhop won scored for canelo.. just a hunch.

I always liked Winky and he never got his due. He was a great fighter without a huge punch. That said he beat a lot of great ones. I didn’t care for Hopkins style, especially later in his career. How could anybody watch this and think hopkins won?
Bernard had 3 future hall fame coaches in his corner at the same time in Richardson, Roach, and Jackson.
Wright was truly underated....true champion.
Бернард, не позволяет Роналду, зацепиться джебом! Перехватывает атаку! Спасибо!
Hopkins had the best head-but in the business.
Evander Holyfield?
How funny. Very true but i think that Evander Hollyfield successfully utilized plenty of headbutt as well.
hop should ask winky to marry him...hugs & hold him all the time
When two defensive boxers collides on the ring expect that more people will boo them.
Abraham Bautista
Winky. So many greats, it's hard to say who your favorite top 10 of all time are.
It hurts having to listen to Max for an hour. Truly painful
"HeadButt Hopkins"... 🤔
Lmao
Hopkins all head butts
Winky was really that dude. And Bernard is one of the greatest ever
Como le ayuda la promotora a Bernard hopkins, era el privilegiado por la promotora de de la hoya.
Wright ganó esa pelea a pesar de muchas infracciones de Hopkins.
This is a snooze fest yet one of my favorite fights to analyze as a boxer.
Nah this isn't a snoozefest, your taste in boxing is just not here yet
@@strawberryh7652 no he’s right. As a boxer trying to study this it has a lot of gems. But as a boxing fan I’m falling asleep very quick no cap 😂
@@strawberryh7652 you’re just a “fan” not a competitor. you don’t understand real boxer talk.
The fight was stolen from Winky.
It was a draw

"The crowd is frustrated. The fighters are frustrated. The referee is frustrated." ~ Jim Lampley (between the 8-9th frame). #RGM
Very true. That's one statement i wholeheartedly agree with.
I think I saw this fight as well.. WINKY WIRGHT was my favourite fighter back in this time.. WINKY travelled the world to fight ppl before making it big in the sport in the 1990's and on.. He was a top top operator. I loved his picaboo style of fighting.. He was a really skillful & great champiob ib his time.. Did Winky make big money in the end with his big fights..
WINKY beat VARGAS that night too btw. He won that fight. Vargas was a good fighter but his movement was bad at times.. Hopkins was one of the cleverest fighters of his Era I have to say.. HOPKINS was still fighting at 46 years of age, wasn't he??
Vargas beat winky calm that down
Remember watching this fight in GB at silly o clock in the morning
Crap fight tbf
i agree, but i've been able to find a couple of good entertaining fights involving winky: his fights against vargas and taylor
Fight was close..bhop dirty tactics helped bhop for sure..fight was a draw..also fight should of been few yrs earlier and at 160lb..winky never was a light heavyweight..winky one of the all time greats
This is on of the best fight by Winky Wright and I'm absolutely sure , and so is the whole world that Wright won this fight ✊✊✊
Crowd is frustrated! Fighters are frustrated!! Referee is frustrated!!! Commentators are frustrated!!!! :)
I really think the cut affected Wright tremendously but it's a fight he had to make the correct adjustments & unfortunately he didn't so Hopkins did what he had to do
every time hopkins attack expected followed by his head to headbutting the opponent,a lot of fights by Hopkins is using a dirty tactics,GOOD FIGHT winky you gived your best you are real fighter...
There's somethings psychologically brilliant about Hopkins and his trainer❣🥳🥰👑✌🏆🤣🤝
Oh, not even close... This fight was not super exciting, but it can't hold a candle to fights like Andre Dirrell vs. Curtis Stevens, Jermain Taylor vs. Cory Spinks, or Randall Bailey vs. Mike Jones.

winky is def the poor mans hopkins, he employed more of a shell defense, his footwork wasnt as good as hopkins but he was a very crafty veteran but i knew hopkins was going to win this fight hes a bit more dynamic...there both hall of famers
No dought look at the age difference bernard look great over winky all day bernard play chess
Also winky loss that fight to jermain taylor good comeback by winky but it wasnt enough
Когда явно идет, намеренно головой, надо останавливать бой и засчитывать поражение таким боксёрам как Хопкинс.
Underated fight
Winky was really good 👍 but not great in my opinion. Definitely not deserving to be in the HOF. his biggest wins were his victory over Trinidad and his two wins over Mosley. That's hardly a HOF career. But the HOF bar was lowered when they inducted Riddick Bowe. So I guess anybody can get in.
Hopkins is going to smother with his left shoulder-Stewart.
Benard The Professor Hopkins -- he takes you to school when he gets in the ring. If you are more than just an average boxing fan -- you see his brilliance.
some ppl really think wonky won that fight though lolol
Stop it
In any other fight,I would agree. But on this fight, the decision should have been to wright. just keeping real.
It was close but like the great Emmanuel said, I had hopkins winning by a couple 2, 3 points. 2 all time greats.
Господи помилуй! До сих пор, спорят насчёт этого поединка! Мне грешнику, чуть больше понравился в этом бою, Хопкинс, чуть хитрее дрался! Не всегда правда, строго придерживаясь правил! Спасибо!
Hopkins footwork Is classic.
Jim lampley one of the best commentators in my era Jim we love you man.
hopkins doesnt make it look pretty but he gets the job done...its odd cause hes always on the receiving end of bad decisions, but they got it right i had it 115-113hopkins, it was actually a good fight for two defensive guys, i just like that fact bernard can make it rough
Hopskins is one of the MOST OVERRATED FIGHTERS OF ALL TIME. Get off it.
@@kingofpendragon bro stop
Bernard BOPkins. Damn! bop...bop....bop... He uses his head like a freaking jab.
Hopkins is a bumb!! Stayed in same division for 10 years after Roy beat him w 1 arm
Winky Wright was wearing those sweatpant shorts you only see at flee markets lol
That's funny, but true
i always score fights like this a draw. if you think bernard won this fight, then clealy you think canelo beat lara, and i have a feeling none of the people saying bhop won scored for canelo.. just a hunch.
WINKY WASNT A FAV OF THE BOXING GODS, THEY DID HIM EVEN WORSE IN THE VARGAS FIGHT
Winky vs Vargas was very close. I just watched it earlier this week for the first time since it aired and the rebroadcast.
I thoughtbwinky won at the time. But I thought Vargas beat him though.
I can see it going either way though. Close fight. Either guy could have won just like this fight and I scored this for Hopkins 115-113
They really love each other. That's alotta hugs. Maybe Philly really is the city of brotherly love

I met winky in 2005 he paid for my meal after we had a conversation i was tellin him be carful cuzz he was close to my hood. But winky a well intelligent cool guy he mad humble too
Never been a winky fan i like the way he fought this fight I love watching B-hop but this fight I didn't like all the head using by Hopkins did alot of y'all guys see how Hopkins kept scraping his head on winky's cut every time they clinched from rounds 9 all the way thru not when Bernard was attacking iM talking about during the holding smh I got annoyed seeing that i wanted to see b-hop win but with a better way much like the earlier rounds when caught winky with that good punch in round 2
Hopkins should've had multiple points deducted. Lots of head butts.
I see Winky got outta that "FlatFoot, in the Pocket Style" Real Quick for THIS fight. Can't fight that Style against Hopkins. Winky movin like a "Cheetah" Tonite, Neva seen him move THIS fast, Hopkins makin him Work, lol🤣🤣
Wow that looked like a robbery
Lol. "A poor man hopkins"
Back when Winky was apart of the Roc
Pelea enfadosa puros abrazos garantía las peleas mexicanas
whose career had better head bunts, Hopkins or Bradley
I always liked Winky and he never got his due. He was a great fighter without a huge punch. That said he beat a lot of great ones. I didn’t care for Hopkins style, especially later in his career. He would throw a couple and clinch and he would hold and hit. Those that said Winky won this fight have a point.
