I've beaten this game at least 20 times and I LY one I'd even heard of was the Mirror Cuirass. Jeez. Always something. I was lucky and got a Crissaegrim on my first time through .
Out these 4 I had only discovered the Rune Sword by accident back in the day which was awesome! But I had also discovered another equally cool sword that needs a mention, the Vorpal Sword that looked like Strider Hiryu's curved energy blade!
@@MattMcRiver Well from what I saw in another video, the Crisaegrim is basically the Vorpal Blade on steroids! There is no challenge in the game after getting that which I never found back in the day.
the mirror cuirass armor only serves a while to beat dopplerganger 10 later if you are quite insistent or lucky the head jellyfish give you one of the best shields that in addition to attacking and turning enemies into stone gives you immunity against stone
I like Marsil the most because it can hit multiple times in a single swing and with it's special attack, it creates a huge explosion around him and the the normal swing. Though, it can only get on the inverted castle which there are more op than that weapon.
Why does nobody ever talk about the familiar sword after you get it to level 100 you can equip it to tour hands to use as a shield or I have seen it the shield rod with the Medusa shield I defeted Dracula when I was level I think 40 with these items my fastest speed run is probably the slowest speed run ever.
Another monstrous weapon is "marsil" single fire sword that can burst and explode, Mourneblade, a sword can lifesteal Shield rod + alucard shield by tapping both weapon, alucard shield can be used as weapon ramming enemies with lifesteal
yes i love marsil as well stronger variant of fire brand... mourne blade is one of my favorites as well even it can only heal you 8 hp per damage but anything you hit it gives you 8 hp even in candle sticks as long as you hit something it regens you 8 hp if you dont want to use that over power shield rod alucard shield combo..
The Mirror Cuirass is only beneficial in the areas with the flying Medusa heads. Late in the game defence is far to low to be considered worthwhile. It's not even a rare item. The Walk Armor is by far the strongest if you make a point to get it early on otherwise the God Garb is the best rare armor. I can understand this all being based on opinion but I just can't get behind the armor choice.
I never could master using the bat as a charger like the wolve. And I'll play this game so many times😅 awesome game awesome soundtrack especially if you have a home surround sound system thundering Bass 42 band equalizer to tailor your sound. This is a masterpiece! I remember back in 99 working from Walmart they had a bunch of these games inside the glass door for only $7.99 each! I wish I could have gone back and bought every single one of them 🤦
It takes dedication but, the strongest weapon is actually Muramasa. It strengthens with blood heals, a couple thousand of them. It will reach an attack of 999.
Hahahahahahaha....... Being born in 82 and still being in middle school when this game came out. CV 1,3,4, and SOTN will always ring true when it comes to nostalgia. I play SOTN roughly 3-4x a year for the past 25 years. Lately my playthough consists of using the max luck code for 999 and have 2 Talisman's equipped while having nothing but a Vorpal Blade. Literally the only major damage you take is from spikes. Everything else is just absorbed, though I believe you can still be stoned from respected enemies. When you have played the game so many times, challenge limits and exceptions breath new life into a game that already has the life force of an Uzumaki.
what is the "luck code?" currently replaying the game and it took me maybe 6 hours in all to get those two DAMN heaven's swords. more luck would have been nice.
I swear the only rare item I got(without even seeing its stats and equipped it anyways) was the ring of Varda, needless to say I wondered why the game was sooo easy for what was left of it, after finishing the game questioning its diffi ultyI found out that it was because of that ring lol Now I can't de a 2nd run because using the ring made my base skills weak xD
@@williambubar4281 I played the playstore port, as a curious guy myself I always wiki'ed everything I found and every enemys drop(after seeing that there were rare drops) and from what ive seen in the different versions they didn't just change the consoles and some bugs but also the obtainancy of items ;)

that two projectile angel sword and rune sword are more like novelty weapons but does not do insane damage also mirror quirass does little no no purpose in castle vania yes to prevent stone but its just in rare occasions plus one you got stoned you can escape it before you got hit by another medusa head again.. ring of varda is what i can agree with you to that but ring of varda can only aquire once you finished the game... real high damage weapon you can use minus the duplicator plus power of sire is.. 1) osafune katana 2) crissaegrim 3) alucard shield + shield rod 4) muramasa glitch great armor you can depend is 1) dracula tunic 2) gods garb in helmet is of course dragon helmet but i prefer equipment with other multiple attibutes. in cloak its either joseph or twilight cloack but my favorite is crystal cloak it looks regal. accesories is best of course in ring of varda plus what ever circlet you can use to absorb hp like beryl circlet ruby circlet or the one to absorb hp by poison pod or mummy poison damage.
Well it is opinionated by the content creator. Like myself, I too love the Vorpal Blade. The Crissaegrim is badass but I prefer the single slash limit.

Wow i had never heard of the rune sword before! So much hidden items in this game.. The heaven sword and God's Garb were the worst fuckin grinding I've ever done!!!! I wore out my controller!!!!! When the drops are THAT rare, its a huge flaw... In an otherwise phenomenal game. EDIT: there is a really cool sword I never collected before in previous playthroughs, its called MARSIL... The flame demon drops it in the necro lab.... Its not the most powerful but if you do the "hadoken" button input it sends a wave of flames across the entire screen for decent damage and uses very little MP... it also looks super cool when attacking... check it out!
My favorite Cv weapon is the one from either Aria or Dawn of Sorrow, probably Dawn of Sorrow. I think you had to beat the game once in order to get all the materials, but it was the spear of Odin, or maybe just lightning spear, anyway, it shot lightning and fired a straight horizontal beam that went through obstacles

At first my pick was that armor that break thorns, but after I learned how to open the church door by shoving potion after transforming from bat to Alucard it became trash to me.
the heaven sword dual is kinda crap i don't like it i like schmoos weapon loot or from the Dodo Bird the rune sword truly helps over high crit rates per swing

Medusa Shield should also be on this list. Same benefits as the Mirror Cuirass while allowing you the use of any armor, and also can deal damage.

yeah but sword of dawn are clunky and slow type of weapon plus his summon can only do 10 or 1 damage at best..

Create a new file and type in: X-X!V’’Q. And you start the game with Max luck, when you play as alucard.
Didn't know that the ring of varda only drops on a cleared save.
I always loved the Heaven Sword and Runesword (Chakram, as well) but they are nowhere near the top 4 items in SotN.

As much as I played the game and saw tips, never saw that sword spell for the Heaven Sword.

You only need Duplicator and Monster Vial.

yeah they have a randomizer and a Chaos mod for it. Though I'm not the foremost expert on them. Check Dr4gonblitz out. Dude does hella content
