This man is so personable. He was at our local theater with the Queen tribute band and we took our kids and grandkids. My son looks like Freddie and shaved off his beard for the night, so he had the mustache, aviator shades...even the Adidas and wife beater. The production company came and pulled him out for pictures and Marc Martel and he had their picture taken together. We had gone out for dinner before the concert and my son had his own paparazzi. Such a memorable night! I wish I could put a picture on here. Some guys came into the restaurant and said "Hi Freddie."
No moustache, No yellow jacket, No iconic dance, just an ordinary man with a black and white suit.... but still remind us of Freddie in anyway of his performance...
50% of the crowd was there for an award ceremony. But trust me , nevertheless people were fully involved in the performance. I have taken very good moments on the phone where people sing wonderfully. When I looked at this recording, my heart sank, because in most cases back vocals' singing is too loud(which wasn’t in live). For example, 7:05 Here people sing quite loudly(“Dont stop me now”) I remember the reaction of Marc well and here you will hear how he says “Wow” too. And there were so many moments like that❤️❤️ sorry for my english😂
I love that he's not trying to phrase everything just like Freddie now. I mean you can't keep that up forever. This is just how he sings the songs. And he still sounds more like Freddie than anyone else in the world.

Saw him live in Germany....what a voice...what a show. He and his band are great. The first 30 Minutes the whole crowd was silent- shocked that he sounds so near to Freddie...I have had heartbumps and tears in my eyes. Then the crowd starts to dance in front of their seats and clapped with their hands and we all celebrated Marc Martel and his band enthusiastically. My husband, who is not a fan of cover bands, was also totally flashed and said at some point that this is a real musician, what he is doing is incredible.
Your husband is right, Marc is a real musician and songwriter, he was singing his own music in the Canadian band called "Downhere" from 1999 until 2012, even back in the early 2000s people would often tell him he sounds similar to Freddie. About the time the band members started to go separate ways, Marc auditioned in Roger Taylor's Queen Tribute Contest and won, the rest is history.

@@Boris_Changit isnt the teeth that make the difference on the sound, freddie was a very slightly lower type of baritone, also martel’s technique is with a lighter mixed voice, but it’s really close (in fact those 2 differences allow marc martel to be able to sing with ease things that freddie rarely did live)
Marc is a natural and doesn't try to look like Freddie, doesn't have to, his voice is enough that if you close your eyes it would be almost impossible to tell it isn't Freddie.
You can always find good instrumentalists and vocalists to recreate the instrumental and backing vocals of Queen and do it well. No one can recreate Freddy's voice as near as perfect as Marc. For that reason, I would go see Marc in concert over the current Queen,

Marc is a perfect example of what a famous pianist said once : "My skills are 10%, 90% practice". You can see how he has evolved. When you watch his "How to sing like Freddie Mercury" videos, you can really see this guy has spent and insane amount of time and dedication to every little detail in Freddie's style. I'm not saying he is Freddie, Freddie is an irreplaceable legend but Marc is the best tribute to him. Marc Martel's hard work has payed off.

kikapo Id normally ignore a comment like this but multiple people have noted the difference in quality of Freddie’s voice live vs recorded. Marc has shown multiple times that he brings the classic feel of queen songs with his own unique touches accompanied by amazing vocal talent and technique. Freddie could write and make music better than Marc imo, but Marc’s technique is on par if not better than his live at least.
Jamal Pope Technique is wayyyyy better, Freddie not even close. Freddie being one of the greatest performers of all time, no hate ever. But no way could he sing this whole set list to this caliber.

Marc Martel is so underrated... He should be touring all over the world with shows as big as 100.000 people or more.... I cannot belive Queen isn't using him. I LOVE Adam Lambert no doubt about it, great singer and musician. But Marc is the new embodiment of Freddie, he's a showman, he has pressence and he sing the songs to perfection. He LOOKS like Freddie AND sound amazingly similar to him. And he even does his own stuff on stage, he's not just doing the recordings, he's doing his own thing... He's feeling the music... Marc is a natural and doesn't try to look like Freddie, doesn't have to, his voice is enough that if you close your eyes it would be almost impossible to tell it isn't Freddie.
You can always find good instrumentalists and vocalists to recreate the instrumental and backing vocals of Queen and do it well. No one can recreate Freddy's voice as near as perfect as Marc. For that reason, I would go see Marc in concert over the current Queen,
Seen him with his band The Ultimate Queen Celebration a couple of times. They are unbelievable! And Marc has grown into a phenomenal frontman!

Marc is a perfect example of what a famous pianist said once : "My skills are 10%, 90% practice". You can see how he has evolved. When you watch his "How to sing like Freddie Mercury" videos, you can really see this guy has spent and insane amount of time and dedication to every little detail in Freddie's style. I'm not saying he is Freddie, Freddie is an irreplaceable legend but Marc is the best tribute to him. Marc Martel's hard work has payed off.

Marc has shown multiple times that he brings the classic feel of queen songs with his own unique touches accompanied by amazing vocal talent and technique. Freddie could write and make music better than Marc imo, but Marc’s technique is on par if not better than his live at least.

Marc Martel is so underrated... He should be touring all over the world with shows as big as 100.000 people or more.... I cannot belive Queen isn't using him. I LOVE Adam Lambert no doubt about it, great singer and musician. But Marc is the new embodiment of Freddie, he's a showman, he has pressence and he sing the songs to perfection. He LOOKS like Freddie AND sound amazingly similar to him. And he even does his own stuff on stage, he's not just doing the recordings, he's doing his own thing... He's feeling the music...
