I'm a wife and mum. I was left paralysed and partially sighted after contracting Lyme disease but despite my disability I volunteered for a UK-wide charity for 10 years. Now changes in my health have rendered me pretty much housebound for the best part of a year, and without hope of improvement my only chance of getting out and about again is by purchasing a rather expensive specialist power wheelchair. Even a pound from anyone who can afford to help will take me ever closer to my goal of getting out with my family and friends, and of being in a position to volunteer again, which will make me feel like I'm giving back to society once more.
