- Cruise news today. A video of a fight in the Carnival Paradise Lido dining room emerged when it returned to Tampa last month. If you’re cruising this week, keep in close contact with your cruise line for possible itinerary changes as the tropics are heating up in the Caribbean. If it’s not a hurricane impacting ships, it’s a dry dock. Royal Caribbean just sent letters to guests sailing on Brilliance of the Seas next May, telling them their cruise has been canceled for dry dock repairs. Cruise line stocks for CCL, RCL, NCLH, and VIK.

Absolutely disgraceful !
Sailed with Carnival for about 20 years now & have never seen a fight. Having said that, also never did a short weekend party trip or been in a lounge past 1am. I’ll stick with those guidelines & continue to enjoy Carnival.
Parents would say nothing good happens after closing time.
Reading some comments amazes me. There is nothing wrong with Carnival. We cruised 5 Carnival ships before wanting to try other lines. After cruising with RCCL and NCL, we switched back to Carnival. Not all of us drink ourselves silly and act like fools. Carnival has beautiful ships, great food, and it’s a great vacation value. My second choice would be NCL, as their buffet and Freestyle Cruising are great. You can keep RCCL. Too expensive.
It is the shorter cruises that are a problem regardless of line. They tend to have a party atmosphere and thus more drinking.
I have never been on any other line, but I trust the people that I know that have and say never again.. We are waiting on our 7th Carnival cruise in a few months and can't wait.. I'm not surprised that some snobs think that these incidents only occur on Carnival and nowhere else.. There are far too many people that think anything they regard as disrespect must be countered with violence. Drinking plays into it as well..
Pick your cruise line, duration,and ports carefully.

Those fighters on Carnivore should be banned from ALL cruises by ALL companies if possible. They need a different venue for the type of activities that they want to indulge in. It's shameful. They not like us.

We sailed on the Carnival Sunrise June 1-6 and a huge fight broke out outside our daughter’s cabin on deck 2 the last night. Same category clientele as seen in this video. Looking for other cruise lines that are more expensive, thus safer.
You are 100% correct. Our cruise was filled with that demographic to where we were outnumbered by a large margin. I got up one morning and a young man was walking down the hall blasting music out of his phone and every other word was the N word or the F word. They have no regard for anyone else. Carnival is truly the Walmart of cruise lines.

Good morning Doug. We are Diamond on Royal Caribbean and Diamond on Carnival. We almost saw a fight in the MDR on Liberty of the Seas. A passenger was able to diffuse the situation. We've never seen a fight on Carnival. On any of the majors, a 3 day cruise is a Booze Cruise.
Carnival wants the party boat atmosphere well, you know what happens at parties when the drinks are flowing.
Funny, up until recently Carnival has no record of this kind of fatherless behavior! People have been cruising for DECADES. Suddenly the clientele looks like the Spirit Airlines clientele and look how they behave. Still think we are all the same?

@@Hbush1987 I’m Platinum on Princess, Carnival. Never seen anything on Princess, RCL , but have seen three incidents on Carnival. Not including loud music, pot smoking on balcony, aggressive behavior. I’m going by what I’ve seen.
My family including our children were on the Paradise on June 16-20. No fights and haven’t seen any on our other Carnival cruises. It’s sad but it’s not on Carnival. It’s people needing to grow up and be responsible. However, we don’t sale on weekend 2-3 day cruises and I hear it’s mostly on those sailings

Mornin' Doug! I just don't get the mentality that says starting a fight on a cruise ship is the thing to do. Good for Carnival for banning the instigators.
That's the thing, they don't just ban the instigators. They fine people who have to defend themselves against such people as if both parties bear the same responsibility. My kids recently defended themselves and we were told they should have called security. Mind you there were 7 of us and 29 of them.
Carnival needs to hire REAL security for their 3 day party cruises. I have seen fights on every single 3 day I have taken and won't ever again do a weekend cruise on carnival again. Every time the security had been a joke and are not tough enough to step in and break up the fights before they start they sit back and wait for at least 5 others to show up and the fight has already been taken to the ground to late hire some security that will do the job right!
It's a shame that you think that they need better security. I'm not signing up for a Naval deployment. I'm on a chill cruise. Because of this, and I may be wrong for doing so, but I will not sign up for a Carnivore Cruise. That's all that some of these folks know about cruising and that's fine by me cause they won't be on the cruise line that I choose. I'm too old for that ish!

My last two cruises were 7 days and 5 days. I was harassed by drunk women both times. Carnival definitely needs to step up security! They need to be in all areas watching to insure they are keeping all passengers safe from this.

In my last Celebrity cruise, a more luxury line, not cheap, 3 men were arrested on the ship... no fight, or chair throwing, but not much better than that. That's why there's now jail on every ship, due to this uncivilized idiots who go on cruises.

I have seen a few fights on Carnival over the last 13 years. Most have been on the short 3,4, five day cruises. Many of the fights intensity seem to have increased over the last 3 years. One fight was on the Breeze several years ago with over 20 passengers outside my cabin door. I have seen passengers fake falls for insurance gains. I have also seen fake fights with a room mate in order to get a private room. With booze being pushed and drinking packages available and with gambling losses, dense crowded populations, and free or greatly reduced prices helped by the casino it is no wonder more fights aren't reported. As for the security staff I think they do a good job for the authority they do not have.
We were on Paradise recently in Showroom when altercation took place. Security was called in but, as in this instance, too late to save a lot of guests from a very bad experience. Yes, CCL has Security, but in my opinion, and having been on Paradise many times, Security is not pro active. They are not where the masses are, they are where they choose to be; Usually overlooking the entertainment in the atrium. Just saying.
Once, only affluent people would go on a cruise. Today, also some riff-raff can afford cruises, flights, resorts, etc.

Its become too cheap. Too many cruise lines and ships racing to the bottom, just like the airlines. Add cheap credit card debt and there you have it.

Don't be. I've been on a lot of Carnival cruises and I've never seen a fight or even heard loud voices. The secret is to go on cruises not shorter than 7 nights. These short booze cruises on Carnival are so cheap, it encourages people who don't know how to act in public, to sign up.
No need to be scared. I’ve done 12 Carnival cruises and have never witnessed a fight. I would suggest doing the longer cruises 7 days or more. Unfortunately the 3 day cruises does attract the bigger party people, especially Bachelor/Bachelorette parties or those wanting to cut loose. I don’t the exact number of cruises Carnival does each week with few incidents but of course the fights make the news.

Fortunately that's a small fraction of occurrences. I won't quit on Carnival because of a few fools.
Seems to be the same situations on most Carnival ships. The cheaper the cruises are, the worse the clientele is. Have to spend extra money on either longer trips or different cruise lines to avoid the nonsense.
Hodgkin twins will have fun with this. I'm surprised they were only fined. They do have a brig on the ship. That's where they should've spent the remainder of the cruise.

It always amuses me when people say this! Tell me... did you think Trump's would be assassin was the "usual suspect" for such things? Because FBI stats says he was, however, unlike you, I understand that correlation does not equal causation. As such, I also understand that the troubled young man that undertook those heinous actions were representative only of HIMSELF and not a judgement of all white men (or white people) as a whole.

I love Carnival Cruise line. In my experience they’re the most diverse as far as music/activities, demographics like race/age, nationality/religion and they can accommodate our son’s disability in the camp area. That said, we decided to ONLY cruise them during the off season and for 7 days or longer after some trial and error.

I have been on 4 cruises with Carnival and have never witnessed a fight. People do drink a lot of alcohol onboard but they are usually with others that keep them in check. This can happen on any cruise line. Each person is responsible for their own behavior. There have been top of the line cruisers that have had people murdered on board.

what a shock look who was involved
Cat fight on the Carnival Valor June 15 cruise. Was a very unpleasant cruise. Juveniles running around running into people (knocked me into a wall with no.apology or anything), kicking room doors, no parents around, and a lot of foul language. Boarded in New Orleans. We complained but doubt anything was done. This was our 3rd cruise but my family's first. Our first 2 cruises were awesome but they also were 12 years ago. This one was horrible. Will seriously consider cruise line on our next cruise. Sad.

As someone that was on the carnival paradise, their week before this happened. I can honestly tell you that I am sad to see what the carnival paradise has become. It was my first carnival cruise 11 years ago. The staff on the ship other than the cruise director in large part failed to do their jobs. The cruise director was amazing other than her the bulk of the staff. Failed to do their job in multiple ways

I feel bad for the folks who have invested so much time in cruising with Carnival. These folks have obtained a high status with many Perks. Really not fair. But I understand some cruise lines will match your loyalty status. I am Elite with Princess. They aren't perfect but they have a classy group of cruisers! I get bored sometimes but I like feeling safe! We were on the Carnival Magic Thanksgiving 2022. There were groups who stormed onto elevators, cut in line, disruptive in shows and trivia. Big waste of money! 😢 Happy cruising! Stay safe!

We were on carnival jubilee last week omg. We returned from shore excursion stopped at bar to have a drink. my friend set down on stool it broke off she fell to the floor cracked broke ankle. I won’t even tell u how we were treated

I do believe the shorter cruises attract a different caliber of individuals. People are looking for a quick getaway, however some are just looking to drink until they are stupid and have a reason to act a plum fool.

I was recently on a Carnival cruise and it was the worst experience. They can care less about the safety of their guests. That was the first and last time we ever cruise with Carnival. My husband broke up a fight due to everyone standing around looking. Security did nothing. One of the men threatened to kill the other. It was scary.
Now carnival cruise is going to raise the price again to cruise😳😳😳.

As a Summer Cruiser you have to be knowledgeable and understanding when it comes to Hurricanes, I can’t tell you how many messages John Heald has answered back on where cruisers wanted credit or refunds for sailings that were affected by Hurricanes. Debark next port. No more brigs on modern day ships. Locked in stateroom with balcony door locked with a special key or moved to interior.
