i was watching the game against the Mets when Chip hit his first big league homer, still got the letter from Chip when he invited me to become a member of his fan club when i was like 11 lol! and i was at Game 6 in '95 at the ole Fulton County Stadium! wow! that experience, 58,000 plus erupting when Griss caught that final out! miss those old Braves days!
I’m a die hard Met fan lol hated Chipper Jones but respected him.. I knew we were never getting him out in a big situation but that 95 World Series was the first WS my brain remembers watching & I think that Cleveland team is best team that never won a World Series.. Nothing like baseball in those days! That’s sick that you were at a WS clincher I can’t imagine ever seeing the Mets win one never mind being there lmao
I also grew up 10 min from the old Richmond Braves stadium.. lots of good memories there. Got to watch Chipper, Klesko, Javy play there when I was a kid.
Klesko is the secret star of this story, as a Braves fan. Dude used to swing out of his shoes, and had crazy eyes; I can totally see him starting this.
He was in Macon Ga before Richmond and Chipper was the talk of the town. We were thirty minutes away. We knew he was gonna be good, but I didn’t know he was gonna be that great, HoF great.
I installed the HVAC systems in the Virginia College in Macon. I lived there for weeks on end. Maybe I was on the wrong side of town , but that was the worst place I ever spent time in.
Chipper sure was the talk of the town when he was with the Macon Braves, but what else are we going to talk about in Middle Georgia? I also didn't think he would be "HoF great" based on minor league performance, but he really upped his game as an infielder and switch hitter over the years.
Maddux is sort of like Tom Brady. Not really big or super athletic. But they just get it done. Everyone talks about Gregg's change up, but he had as good of curve ball as anyone. Also his fielding. He was a ground ball pitcher but he also struck out a lot people.
Chipper ain't a small dude he's 6'4 210 maybe he was 185 then but Thome was officially was also 6'4 but if you said he was 6'6 I'd believe it and every but of 250 to 270 lbs of county boy strong muscle.
I have 2 800 count boxes of Chipper Jones rookies. The score and the upper deck. I will be sending them to Chipper, sure hope he signs them and sends them back.
Could anyone have taken Jim Thome?
I Think Undertaker Would've Whooped His Ass Since Taker Is 6"10 Ha
@Ballen1182No
@Ballen1182 Good match
Babe Ruth
Kyle Farnsworth

I can't imagine the stories and experiences he had. Big Leaguers playing 20 years must see everything

@@wordnerd2005I live in Macon, ues you were on the wrong side of town man haha
Him and Ken Griffy Jr are my to faves. Greg Maddux is my favorite all time pitcher

Amazing story..
Yeah it was Dave Eiland. Awesome story. Love it!!!
That is a great story…. Ole Chip can weave a yarn…
Grew up 10 minutes from Parker Field, you go to TJ, Maggie Walker, Marshall, Benedictine?
at 72, Chipper is still my Favorite Brave........
I think Dave Eiland was Costner’s double

How did that go?
@@CSC52698 I got them all back in the mail. boxes beaten to hell, cards all dinged up, and no autographs.🥵
Thome was a skinny little boy at that point in time.
i thought charlotte was the white sox AAA team not the Indians?
This was before 1995 when Chipper was a rookie. Charlotte Knights were an Indians AAA team mid-90s.
NO ! Especially a broken-down ex-doorman.
😂
Larry Wayne Jones could not carry Mr. Thome's jock strap in ANY point of his media-hyped career!
look at his stats
Mets fan?
@@striderstache99 AL fan....Dislike ALL NL teams
He sure as hell could.
@@cowetascore8476 Larry Wayne Jones was a candy @zz compared to Thome! Real men don't have "nick names"!
Thome, 612 freaking home runs in the majors. He was an Indian, and he ate your lunch, Chipper!
Wow did that go in the World Series?
