Thank you for all you do for us.
I love this trick!! I always try to replace the pulleys with metal ones if I have one in stock
Best part is that the machine will be back soon to have the pulley replaced again after the bearings fail
Excellent advice and often overlooked by those not thinking a little bit out of the box when essentially one is almost 99% home.
Another quick fix on something like this is when one has a lathe, like yourself. It doesn't take much time to whittle one out of some heavy wall tubing or bar stock. Although one has to choose his battles wisely here as it doesn't take long before this process in not time or cost effective. Time is always the key to any job involving clientele.
Thanks again Don!
I've had to do that when the pulley I needed wasn't available. Big time saver for sure!!!!
Yessir and you just made a customer happy and cleared up some room in your shop, great quick informative video Dony!
That is a great idea to do that to get the job done in a timely manner and get it back to the customer
The only problem is that hitting it like that can cause the balls in the bearing can dimple the 2 rings of the bearing shortening it life considerable because all of the force of the hits is taken by the balls in to the inner and outer ring
Thanks Don for all your tricks and advice.
You always got the cool tricks
Thanks, Dony. Well executed as per usual.
Nice collection of tin cans Behind the vice.
I like this trick. A good set of tools does help. Not saying it cant be done without either.
Wow never thought about doing that!
Wow!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Great tip!!!!!!!!
Thank you!!!
Excellent!! Good to know!! Thank you!!😊
Smart idea. Thanks for the tip.
I just learned you can change the bearing in those lawn cart and such replacement wheels. I had a lawn cart with a 3/4" shaft but most of the replacement hubs are 5/8". But the hubs are really 1 1/4 and the bearings are replaceable. Bought 3/4" ID bearings off Amazon and solve my problem much cheaper than trying to run down a 3/4" hub.
Great trick. Thanks for sharing
Great tip, Don! You make everything look easy. Now it's easy for us. Thanks!
Thank you for the information!
Well that is slicker than greased owl s**t! Nice!
Donny Boy you need to dress up your 3/8" pin punch on the head end(hammer end)
It's mushroom over the edges and can cause a spall to break off while striking the head end and hitting you in the face or body.
SAFETY FIRST!
KEEP THE VIDEOS COMING TO PITTSBURGH PA
GOD BLESS YOU AND YOURS.
Great tip thanks for sharing
That is awesome thank you so much Thank you for the video
Hi Don, great videos. I really do appreciate all the knowledge to are able to provide. I really do appreciate it. Keep them coming. Just wondering if you could do a short video on an ignition coil i was helping a friend locate for a Lawnboy mower. I found it and in the process i discovered a similar coil but with a different characteristic. One was part# 100-2948 and the other was part# 100-2949 both will mount the same but the 100-2949 is a pre compliance (ground to run) and the 100-2948 is a post compliance (open to run). I really didn't understand at first but i think i got the jist of it now. Maybe put a video together bringing a little knowledge to your subscribers. Thanks again.
Paul from Guelph, Ontario Canada
Great tip, but I'd have to wait to get a 3/8 punch in :P
Another great use for that punch is setting nails in hard to get at spaces.
👍👍👍.Thank you
Good one!
Thanks Don, good idea.
Thank You...
Thanks for sharing! Good to know.😊
Good video, old trick ! If this was "Chickanic", she would have a center punch and claw hammer to do this. Just watch some of her recent videos.
Good tip as usual , thanks!
When pounding out spacer new one shouldn't you have supported the bearing centre race. Maybe by putting bushing over the spacer so that bushing sits on the vice jaws rather than just the pully body. Also, in this cae, depending on application could you just use a separate additional spacer on the new pulley mouning pin to get required length of spacer
Your “The Man”!👍🔥👀
Awesome
Waooooooo nice video sharing best off luc like have done
smart move
Smart.
Good job brother. nice to know those things 👍
such a boss you are..thank you for sharing don
Nice !
Neat trick thanks.
Glad you liked it!
That’s crazy your made this video 1 day after I just did the exact same swap on a tractor I worked on.
Thank you for your tips and informative videos. I have a question regarding my JD X350. It stops showing a charge every time I engaged the mower blades. I shut it off and it shows that it is charging again. Any ideas?
You mean there is still grass to cut up that way?? I thought it all went up in 🔥. :-) Happy summer time! I hope you get some time to wind-down DB. vacation , R&R. rest and relaxation (not remove and replace). Peace my friend!
Fires were quite far from me!
Thats great idea. Do you find the holes are all the same size or have you found variety?
do you by chance have any Varable speed pulleys fot MTD Riders? The ones with the bolt going all the way through it. or do you know anyone who makes the Center shaft bearing sleave for them?
Carefull about giving away your secrets, to those of us who have good bench mounted vise, drift sets, impact guns, spacer dowels, torch. Oh never mind you will ALWAYS have customers ! lol
S’il vous plaît rester en bonne santé, Ami !
So, did this pulley fail because its made out of plastic or did the bearing fail?
The bearing was very worn
Just use a bunch of lockwashers
Haha yes done that!
Looks like a 203 bearing. Most auto parts stores have a number system which may have a series of letters or -#'s after or before the base 203 number. It merely means metal or plastic shields, shield only on one side or lock ring around the circumference. If you go to an inexperienced counterman at Auto Zone, he will ask you make model and year. Merely ask if you can go to the bins and check out the bearings. The 203's will be clustered together on the shelf. In a pinch, most pickups with serpentine belt systems will have idlers or tensioners that use the same bearing. Bite the cost of the entire tensioner/idler and press the 203 out.
Must have watched a TOTALLY Different video, Had NOTHING to do with bearings, He was talking about the Bushing or Sleave.
Good to know, thanks Don.
You need a lathe. Except come to think of it, you might spend all of your time making parts for small engines instead of putting parts in small engines.😊
I just got one!
I’ve done this, wondered if it was legit? If you do it to it’s legit!!!!👍
It sure is!
But the bearing(s) have a million miles on it...
Not using the old pulley
Nice!
