This is the London production of Kiss of the Spider Woman from 1992 (although it is often mislabeled as Broadway). The cast includes Chita Rivera (Aurora/Spider Woman), Brent Carver (Molina), and Anthony Crivello (Valentin).
This is a higher quality video than some of the other versions I saw on TH-cam, so I thought I'd share it. I've also edited in professionally shot b-roll when available. This includes songs such as "Her Name is Aurora", "Dressing Them Up", "Dear One", "Where You Are", "She's A Woman", "Gimme Love", and "The Day After That". The sound quality for some of the b-roll is a bit different that the main video, and some of the audio sync with the b-roll isn't perfect, so apologies about that!

Such a breathtaking show. Brent Carver gave a truly magical performance, and Chita Rivera was utterly magnetic.
This show needs and deserves to be revived! An amazing score!

A chance for me to live again one of the best shows I was ever associated with. Chita is the best. The production was sublime.

Brilliant! I saw "Spiderwoman" live on stage near the end of the Broadway engagement, when the role of Aurora was being performed by an actress I didn't know, and found the show incredibly dull. This version is sheer genius, thanks mainly to Chita and director Harold Prince.

OK, I am in tears!. I've seen this phenomenal show live onstage only one time and it was the national tour with Chita Rivera and I just don't recall reacting this strongly to it then as I have today. At multiple points, I cried my eyes out and I'm no crier!! It's as if I've never seen it before and when I was in high school I discovered the cast recording so I knew the show inside out by the time I saw it. I don't recall disliking it but I do recall thinking it was not as good as I had expected. The production and cast were amazing, especially Chita. I got her autograph after the show and told her I love her as Anita in West Side Story and she said "Oh, that was wayyy back then before you were ever thought of" mocking her own age. We laughed and she got into her awaiting limo. I also got Merle Louise' autograph as well. Both she and Chita were so incredibly nice and approachable. I will never forget that moment.
I don't know if it's age (I'm 45 now) but all I know is I saw a new musical today. It mght as well be because it didn't have nearly as big an impact on me as it did today. You know when you feel such a strong rush of emotion it makes you almost appear as if you're like sneezing but holding it in multiple times? Well, that's how I got during the final tango.

I saw this on Broadway with Maria Conchita Alonso. Then later when it toured with chita! Was fantastic!!!
After the announcement that this will finally get the Hollywood film treatment with Jennifer Lopez as Aurora, I had to rewatch this! I am sooooo excited for the movie version since this is literally my all-time favorite musical. What a phenomenal score and what a fenomenal cast!!!

I saw this when it toured to San Francisco. And Chita was the lead in the touring cast. Watching her move at to her age and after her near fatal car accident was amazing.
the 1st national tour the person who play Chita Rivera part was SANDRA GUIDA. I have the opportunity see Chita rivera on Broadway and Sandra Guida on national tour....

Thanks!! The best video I've seen. I saw Chita in the tour I guess around 1995 as a teen and it blew me away--I always wondered if many changes were made between London and Broadway (I don't think so...)

I saw the Londen production but Bebe Neuwirth was playing Aurora
This is going to make a weird movie. I don't know about Jennifer Lopez in Chita's part. She can sing for sure, but it's a different vibe then the pop music she does. But Bill Condon is a good film director.
It will depend on whether the director can handle the juxtaposition between the fantasy world of Molina and the gritty, cruel reality of Valentin's world. It's also going to depend a LOT on the unknown actor playing Molina. He carries the show. Hopefully he and Diego Luna can sing. But yeah, not sure Lopez has the depth to pull Aurora off. She's mostly known for fighting with Ben Affleck.
