The crime rate is through the roof here in the UK, specifically in London. I have seen 5 cases of mobile phone snatching in my area, a radius of barely 2km, you can imagine what would be the rate in the rest of London. Mostly Teenagers with no jobs and no other income sources are the usual suspects. They are also aware of very low consequences from the law, even if they get caught, there won't be any serious punishment. And to make the situation worse, now there are attacks on Kids and they are being killed in cold blood in various parts of the UK. If these criminals have not even mercy for children then you can imagine the rest. The ray of hope is the fact that racism and discrimination are hard to be seen on university campuses and workplaces. The point to keep in mind is " You are on your own in the street, don't expect any help from bystanders and also expect the attacker to have a knife and intention to hurt you." That's all I can say after 2 years of experience living in London.
