  • I’ve always trolled these behind an 11” Pro-Troll flasher with the agitator fin. I’ve heard other people say they work with no flasher as well, but cannot speak from experience. May be worth a try, would make fighting the fish more fun!
    Items I use:
    Brad’s Super Bait Cut Plug - amzn.to/2LCdYES
    30lb mono line (36” leader length) - amzn.to/2A0Xt3J
    P-Line Dura-Max Roller Swivels Size 3 - amzn.to/2NDVLrh
    Brad’s 6 Bead Chain Swivels - amzn.to/2Nwwf6Y
Owner Hyper Wire Split Rings #4 - amzn.to/2A1g1Rr
Gamakatsu Big River Bait Hook 4/0 - amzn.to/2LjLdAY
    4mm Bead - amzn.to/2uEifRA
    ProTroll Flasher- amzn.to/2uIPbsd
Swivels are tied on using palomar knots
I feel single hooks are better for several reasons: Easier to manage in my tackle box, cheaper then quality treble’s, hooks go in deeper (less fish lost), if barbless hooks are required this still works (pinch the barbs or buy barbless hooks), grass/weeds don’t get caught in hook as easily as trebles.

8.99 for 2 only 5 years ago. now they're double that locally and 20-40 on amazon for that size. Almost all the ones on amazon are the "kokanee" or mini size which is about the size of a chapstick. even the single rigged 4" is around $12 locally. I'm seeing knockoffs too but they're nearly the same price

Too bad my paycheck hasn't doubled in 5 years... that would be nice :-)

Great video. Do you run this straight or behind a flasher?

I run them behind a flasher. In the river an 11" protroll

You forgot to show where you use the P-Line roller swivels. Can you clarify what you use those for? Thanks.

fig816 I didn’t say it too well, but around the 5 minute mark is where I use the P-Line swivel at the end of my line. That then gets attached to my flasher. I’ll make another video of the full setup.

What do you think of a 4 /O circle hook to be used?

    • @bayareaangler5103
      @bayareaangler5103  5 ปีที่แล้ว

Steve Nelson I’ve never used circle hooks while trolling. In California ocean waters they are required if you are mooching, but for trolling you’re free to use any single (barbless) hook, so I never saw a reason for using circles with cut plugs.
