Move On? I remember hearing that song for the first time after buying The Album in early 1978. My God it totally floored me. Such a profound message it has.
My father’s a big ABBA fan and he’s very happy and I’m happy for him, because there were little to no signs of them reuniting, let alone releasing a new album. So I believe it’s definitely great news
Lately, I really started getting into ABBA again. And for some reason now more than ever it's sunk in just how truly brilliant their music making was. I believe this reunion is a wonderful idea for old fans but also for the new crop of Gen Z fans who have discovered them through the power of social media. Within this crappy pandemic, this reunion and album release is one of the few genuinely delightful events occurring in the world now.
In these dark & uncertain times it's fantastic that they're back. They take us back to happier times in our lives & that is a good thing. They're like an old friend that you haven't seen for years suddenly knocking at your door. Welcome back ABBA.
What I really really like about the song 'I still have faith in you' is that they don't care about the "popsong marketing rules" nowadays. No 'hook" in the beginning of the song, no duration limit of 3 minutes. I love that. I had my doubts about the returning of ABBA, but I was wrong. A whole new generation of ABBA fans will embrace their songs, the old and new ones.
Abba is more than Pop. Its much deeper. And they are back. Pure happiness! And i completly understand your feelings. 38 years wandering thru a musical desert...now u see a oasis. Unbelievable.
The world has never needed ABBA as much as it needs them now. They have brought some happiness back to us. Reminded us of happier days. God bless them. Thank you for the music.
Abba's music gives many people, especially now in these times, the feeling of warmth, of being emotionally "hugged" and the hope that maybe everything will be fine in the end. Why do even younger people have tears in their eyes with emotion when they hear the new songs for the first time? There is something about this music that cannot be analyzed or calculated. I call out to the cold critics: "Let's enjoy this magic"
@@VaughnGeorge Agree completely! We need all the good things that we can get right now when so much going on is dark and heavy. I think it's a wonderful thing! How Abba moves me emotionally; it is magic indeed.
@@VaughnGeorge Having a lump in my throat having seen and heard the video of " Don't Shut Me Down " which gets better and better on every subsequent hearing I would say it's a brilliant idea :)
I have loved ABBA since 1976, when their song "Fernando" was selected as "Song Of The Year" for that year in Portugal, which is very unusual, because that particular distinction is always awarded to national (Portuguese) artists. One of the reasons is that the name (Fernando) is very common in this Iberian Peninsula country. I can attest to this fact, as I know many "Fernandos".......friends, family, neighbors and even coworkers. And, add to that "familiar" name to stunning vocals, harmonies and melody, (Frida's lead, and Agnetha's supporting), and absolutely heavenly instrumentation and arrangement, and you have a phenomenal success in my native country. ♫♫♫♪♪♪♪♪♪♪♥
I have always said, "If you don't like Abba, then you don't like music" Abba pretty much perfected the quality pop song.. they made music accessible to all without diluting it to the lowest common denominator.. If you want a simple hook you can hum while doing the washing up or you want musical arrangements that come from the masters of Bach, Beethoven and Mozart then Abba delivers all of that and more.. I still remain on the fence about the "comeback" I hope that the songmanship is still there and it's not just some cynical cash grab..
Many people "forget" Abbas 5th and 6th members Stikkan Andersson (who brought them together, managed and produced them) and Michael B Tretow, their recording engineer who helped to create their sound.
ABBA's music is so much more in the classic musical genre then pop. So it wasn't surprising when Benny & Bjorn went on to do Chess. I trained in theatre and it was actually singing along to them growing up that helped me develop my voice. In fact my first singing teacher said I learned from the BEST! :)
If the album is good then I say it’s a good idea. They’re going to make a lot of people very happy and we can use as much happiness as possible at the moment! The purpose made venue and digital show sounds pretty good.
Whilst I totally understand how some people may have lost their love for Abba, I was really impressed that they had the courage to actually come back after 40 years, but more to the point I thought both songs were great, with a message we can learn from about having faith and belief in ourselves regardless of our age or anything. God knows they have not come back due to lack of money, but rather their passion to sing, and the fact that they still can. They sound as good if not better than before. Good on them I say. I loved them then and LOVE these new songs now.
@@jno8039 it's not a tour as most of us think of it. It is a digital concert in London, a virtual happening. ABBA going on tour hasn´t been an option since about 1980. They never liked touring and have turned down numerous offers over the years. I think that the digital concert is a project they have started because of the demand for experiencing ABBA on stage. And then things developed and they made a new album. The come back of ABBA to me is all about the album. New music is what defines ABBA as an active group in 2021.
@@annelisundkvist I know people working on the concept. Yes it's a tour. Musician will play live on stage. Abba will be digital. ILM (Star Wars, jurrasic Park etc...) are working on the special effect. So far it's not great. Honestly it's the most stupid idea I never ear in my industry. London it's the 1st, they will unmount the arena re build and move in another city.
Move on is song that lifted me in all my troublesome and hard moments. Always succeeds! I just can’t find ABBA song whose melody and lyrics hadn’t touch me. I highly recommend Benny Anderssons “Piano” album to all piano lovers.
This was one of the best video clips I have ever watched on TH-cam. You spoke our feelings. I felt all that you said, as I am an ABBA fan since 1978. I am glad I found your channel. They ARE "the sound track" of our lives. THANK YOU.
Luv ABBA….their songs are stories….about life, love, heartbreak….and the tunes stay in your head, playing over and over again! Really something…..wonderful!!!
I held off listening to the two new songs for concern they would sound 'weak or less authentic'. I was moved to hear the production levels are super-high and the voices sound unchanged. It truly sounds as if 40 years have not passed. ABBA as a group are very smart and have not put a foot wrong in the public eye. When they have individually made a public appearance (to speak) in the last 40 years, the crowd becomes incredibly moved. This cannot be said for the Beatles or the Rolling Stones indicating ABBA has created something timeless and carries significant global good-will. I look forward to the next six months. Please more ABBA videos Vaughn
@@VaughnGeorge and as proof of how indestructible these songs are - there are two Mamma Mia films where Pierce Brosnan tried his best to “sing” them. Despite this I enjoy them both highly and the scene in the church in the second one gets me every time!
Hug you mate. You brought me to tears with your emotions. I understand you so well. And Abba made it! They did not change anything at all. All fans in the world are happy because Abba still sounds like Abba.
I´m astonished to find out there´s other ones who are so similar to me in their opinions and reactions but that is just great! It´s so nice we old original fans have found each other in this scale that´s happening just now.
What fills my heart with happiness is that the comeback will expose so many young people to their masterful music which ABBA utterly deserve. I saw a video of Benny saying the ''maybe'' there will be a comeback a few yrs ago. I thought then maybe but knowing they are reserved people and privacy is important to them maybe not. I later learned that the comeback was supposed to happen around 2019 but covid messed all that up. Knowing it's happening is incredible to me. I can't bare the wait for an entire album. I did cry when I heard their new songs. I also describe beautiful melodies with the mental pictures that appear in my mind like meadows and sunshine. Abba and The Beatles just trigger these emotions in me so often. How can they not. ABBA are also wonderful story tellers, sometimes with happy things in life but also with extremely painful situations like divorce and the pain caused by indifference from you lover. Their lyrics make their song so 'real' they make you remember that ABBA also went through these experience and that we are them and they are us. It's the human connection that compels you to listen.
I learnt about it the other day on twitter and could not believe it. It's refreshing to see their comeback after so many great stars left us in these past few years. The 2 new songs are very nice, and typical Abba. Fitting lyrics for a comeback. The Winner Takes It All breaks me every time. Don't apologise for having a soul and good taste ;)
Of course they're up there with classical composers! Johan Strauss Junior was the ABBA of his day bringing what we now call classics to the masses which had never been done before making enjoyable, toe tapping music! His Waltzes were the Dancing Queen of the time. I've heard to two new tracks and I'm delighted! I'm pleased too that they're not touring as like the rest of us, they're 40 years older. I prefer to remember th visual image of the past but the timelessness of the music! B.T.W. My funeral song is Thankyou For The Music, an allusion to life and I decided that years ago!
I was in Benny Anderssons studio for about 3 years ago. A local band recorded some songs and he let his own band play on the songs they recorded. He is a an amazing person and a master musician. I wish to be a fly on the wall when they recorded the new album.
"Thankyou for the Music" 🎶 ABBA Once again you have brought your Special Kind of Happiness back into Our World just when we all need it the most! 🇸🇪💛 Love From Australia🇦🇺💙🎊
In my most humble opinion, it is a great idea that they came back, and with a brand new studio album, and I will absolutely buy their album "Voyage", on the 5th November.....and as soon as the record store opens, I will be there..........................but......................I would not attend their "Abbatar" concert. It would have to be them "in the flesh". But I wish Benny, Björn, Agnetha and Frida, all the love and all the best with this new endeavour. They are much appreciated and much loved throughout the world, because they have brought so much joy and beauty through their music.
I think what you say half-way in is absolutely right, Benny is a composer with Swedish folk muscis heritage. It is the morning light, the midsummer pole, the sunset, the stars and everything in between. The greatness, I now understand, is that they can make you feel happy, sad and want to dance at the same time.
I deeply respect the talent, genius and knowledge that is behind ABBA. I like their songs very much, they had such an enormous impact on countless other artists and pop music itself. They are legends, and it's great that they bring out new songs. Another movie in which ABBA songs play a central role is Muriel's Wedding from 1994. Highly recommended!
Great video Vaughn! Thanks for getting emotional, thats so human and badly missed these days...just having an Abba session at home...guess I will be crying half of the show next year and loving it :-)
Absolutely a very good idea! It was so exciting watching the live premiere of their two new songs which in this day and age are definitely needed! I grew up listening and dancing around my room to ABBA in the late 70s and early 80s. And even when I got older and got more into bands like Depeche Mode, OMD, and Duran Duran, I’ve always kept a love and appreciation for ABBA’s beautiful harmonies and uplifting or poignant melodies in my heart. And then when when they got popular again with the musical and movies, I was glad to see and hear their music back in the limelight and others enjoying their music for the first time. I’m just glad they’re all still alive to make it happen, and am excited for the new album! Music unites us and connects across different cultures and generations! 💖💫🌌🎶
Listening to you speaking about ABBA reminds me of an interview by Vince Clarke back then when they released the ABBA Coverversions. Andy Bell massive ABBA Fan as well
ABBA's next project should be an "answer record" to _Abba-esque_ called _Erasure-ish_ (like ABBA tribute group Björn Again did, but with more songs and the real ABBA).
They were "musicians", that wrote and composed, that is why they are great. You can play their music on any instrument and it stands up. So different than the music that is "manufactured" today. Being a musician myself I know people who have released multiple albums and have no idea how to read or write music, no idea of composition or theory, and dont even play an instrument. Their albums are manufactured by file sharing, purchasing stock drum patterns, chord changes and bass lines and then putting it together with software, copying and repeating changes, using autotune on everything, its like building Lego instead of playing and recording music. No wonder why so much music sounds the same these days. I'm not knocking it. Its just a very different way to "produce" music than the way I learned by playing and recording.
Hey Vaughn, I totally understand your emotions to ABBA’s music, as it has the same effect on me. I adore the album ‘The Visitors’. So many great songs on there. Slipping through my fingers always makes me reflect on my relationship with my own daughter. Other songs like ‘ I let the music speak’, ‘ Like an angel passing through my room’ and the awesome ‘The day before you came’ are just amazing. It’s great news that ABBA are back.
I grew up with Abba in the 70s. Have loved their music for years. I truly was never expecting them to come back at the age they are now. To me it shows that they still love doing music and love their fans. Not so sure about the ABBAtar thing. I would love to see them as they are now, but I know they could not handle the fast pace grueling riggers of touring. The two songs they released show that they still have the magic in true Abba form. I'm happy for the them and looking forward to hearing their full CD.
DO IT! I was really looking forward to the rest of Violator and SOFAD reviews, but ABBA is one of the few things that I would not mind interrupting that series. Grew up with parents that really loved ABBA in the 70s and early 80s. They got all records and I recorded them to tape. In the late 80s ABBA was probably the lamest thing you could listen to, especially in Sweden but I did it without anyone but my closest friends knew. And then came Erasure with ABBA-esque and then ABBA Gold and suddenly Abba was played at discos again and no one would bother if you played them again, great times!
The live show is an incredible idea, it could run for years, unbelievable investment though, I read that 850 people have been involved in making it, I can't even begin to imagine the cost but it must be worth it for them
@@grimlund that was not really my point, my point was more - why are they doing this? they surely do not need the money but it must be making them money despite the massive investment or they would not do it, or maybe its more a legacy thing?
@@nigelhenshaw3254 I think it's a legacy thing, testing exciting new technologies and what you can do with it, Björn and Benny have always been a huge part in co-producing everything, musicals, films etc. and a gift for all their loyal fans around the world.
God, I remember being a kid and hearing Dancing Queen for the first time blasting at our apartment swimming pool. Sunshine, splashing water, a can of Shasta Orange and Abba - nirvana it was. These two new songs from the upcoming album are just beautiful brilliance. To me, the songs capture the essence of Abba. I do feel that the new music sounds a bit more Broadway showstopper than pop, but the songs are simply perfect music.
Ofc you should do breakdowns, explanations on why it hits ppl's heart and souls etc. You love it so cherish it and show/educate us bring along memories to make it more personal and storytelling just like they do. I think it's a great idea VG! ABBA is magic for the soul and ears.
They played and recorded the whole 22 song concert for over five weeks and then the ABBATARS are taking over for the live shows with a 10 piece live band. Its going to be awesome . . .
Do they really rank with classical composers? Yes, you are correct! In 200 years, if the world survives, people will still know about and listen to ABBA. They will be considered "classical" in the future. Don't worry about the tears mate. Their songs can stir emotions as many are related to life's struggles and events. When I knew my marriage was coming to an end, I printed up the lyrics from their song, "When All Is Said And Done" and gave it to my then wife. She understood, as we both could feel the "Autumn Chill." My funeral song.. Super Trouper. I want it up beat, and my last message to my friends and family is to not feel blue and to go on, "shining like the sun, smiling having fun".

Loved your vlog on ABBA comeback. At the young age of 13 I was totally hooked on them from their hit SOS, and been an avid fan ever since. A much needed cheery bright spot on these stressful pandemic last two years. Thanks you ABBA ! ...a shout out from Arkansas, USA
I cried when I heard the two newly released songs, they have such depth and truth. If you all don’t appreciate ABBA, there is seriously something wrong with you.
When growing up in Sweden they had no American influences in music as the radio stations there only played Swedish and European music. Swedish "Folk Music" was very popular. This is why their take on POP/ROCK is so different from any other band(s) in the world. Benny listened to classical music a lot which is incorporated into their music.

Well said Stefan !! ABBA are back just when the world needs them !! VG 🎹👍😎
@@VaughnGeorge Agree completely! We need all the good things that we can get right now when so much going on is dark and heavy. I think it's a wonderful thing! How Abba moves me emotionally; it is magic indeed.
The song is a very simple approach, something the whole is hunger for again.
I have always said, "If you don't like Abba, then you don't like music"
Abba pretty much perfected the quality pop song.. they made music accessible to all without diluting it to the lowest common denominator..
You got me right at "If you don't feel this you got no soul!" Beautiful examined, fullstop. ♡
Dancing Queen is in my eye the most perfect pop song ever created.
Absolutely!! It’s my ringtone!
Only Dancing queen?
Take a chance on me.
SOS.
Only Lennon and McCartney have better credentials.
My favourite ABBA song is whichever one I'm currently listening to...
9 months after...YES,That was proved to be a fab idea.People really wanted this.Have you seen the VOYAGE gig in London?
ABBA's music is so much more in the classic musical genre then pop. So it wasn't surprising when Benny & Bjorn went on to do Chess. I trained in theatre and it was actually singing along to them growing up that helped me develop my voice. In fact my first singing teacher said I learned from the BEST! :)
If the album is good then I say it’s a good idea. They’re going to make a lot of people very happy and we can use as much happiness as possible at the moment! The purpose made venue and digital show sounds pretty good.
How can the album not be good....It's ABBA !!! They don't do a bad album!
2 first songs are already true gems.
But what the point to make a come back and not be on stage for the tour ?
@@jno8039 the point is that there is a new album with new music.
@@annelisundkvist I'm talking about the tour. Abba will on screen younger and digital. It's rubbish !
ILM (Star Wars, jurrasic Park etc...)
are working on the special effect.
So far it's not great. Honestly it's the most stupid idea I never ear in my industry. London it's the 1st, they will unmount the arena re build and move in another city.
I can totally relate to the emotional factor. Just hearing a few bars of their music can invoke some and powerful memories
Yes, I started to tear up as he played, waiting to hear Frida sing the opening to Super Trouper
THANK YOU.
Thank you for your kind words !! I’m so glad you found me!! I’d like to personally welcome you to this fabulous community !! VG 😎🎹👍
I got all emotional when I heard "I Still Have Faith in You"... Just brilliant, and so nostalgic. Beautiful. ABBA are legend.
Luv ABBA….their songs are stories….about life, love, heartbreak….and the tunes stay in your head, playing over and over again! Really something…..wonderful!!!
Love ABBA! ❤ So very excited for their comeback! Heard one of their new songs, they still sounds amazing, classic ABBA.
As a professional musician, I agree, Benny and Bjorn are amazing songwriters. I love Chess, as my favourite musical
I discovered Abba through my mom and dad`s records. Everyone here has heard Abba somewhere somehow can`t deny their impact on the globe.
I totally agree, just the melodies from ABBA can really put me in an emotional state. So beautiful!
Cheers Robert!! We are on the same page !! VG:-)
Thank you my friend!! VG :-)
I´m astonished to find out there´s other ones who are so similar to me in their opinions and reactions but that is just great! It´s so nice we old original fans have found each other in this scale that´s happening just now.

This is exactly what I and the world NEEDS right now im from 1964 and grew up with ABBA...
THEY ARE BACK JUST IN TIME. THE WORLD NEEDS ABBA.
I was in Benny Anderssons studio for about 3 years ago. A local band recorded some songs and he let his own band play on the songs they recorded. He is a an amazing person and a master musician. I wish to be a fly on the wall when they recorded the new album.
Note for note of the mouse click sequencer: Guilty, as charged.
Their timing could not have been better!! We all need them right now. The world has just had enough of all the insanity and lying.
Good Idea! ❤️
"If you don't feel this, you got no soul!"... well said 👏
"Thankyou for the Music" 🎶 ABBA Once again you have brought your Special Kind of Happiness back into Our World just when we all need it the most!
Is more ABBA a good idea? Well that's a strange question. Hear the songs they made... It's pure ABBA. 40.years later ❤️

Andy Bell massive ABBA Fan as well
Very True!! VG :-)
ABBA's next project should be an "answer record" to _Abba-esque_ called _Erasure-ish_ (like ABBA tribute group Björn Again did, but with more songs and the real ABBA).
Hearing ABBA songs stripped down to only piano truly is a soul journey! Thank you! 🙏🥰
Other songs like ‘ I let the music speak’, ‘ Like an angel passing through my room’
and the awesome ‘The day before you came’ are just amazing. It’s great news that ABBA are back.
IT'S A WONDERFUL IDEA!!! I love it and people love it all over the world! It is real music and I mean real music!! ABBA❤❤❤❤
Emotionel about like you.. Oh, yeah, was crying with joy all the way through the video. That ABBA is back, is the best news ever!!!! :)
All of this. The Day Before You Came is a gorgeous song, and so few people even know it exists.
Thank you, thank you, this is the only way how we can talk about ABBA, if we have heart and soul to understand their music deeper...
Thank you and welcome to the channel my friend!! VG
The live show is an incredible idea, it could run for years, unbelievable investment though, I read that 850 people have been involved in making it, I can't even begin to imagine the cost but it must be worth it for them
Money is the least problem for this four people. Believe me.
They don't need money but they'll make way more than they invested.
@@postcardsfromprotest Yes no where did I say Benny and Björn had developed the technology?? ABBA will however be the first artist to do this.
Great video, how touched you were! 🙂👍🏻 "I still have faith in you" is wonderful btw. Love that
Hillarious! Wonderful tears! The key that ABBA has to our hearts....
Beautifully emotional Vaughn ❤️ Love to hear about ABBA’s return, makes me longing for my homeland even more 🇸🇪

I think it's a great idea VG!
ABBA is magic for the soul and ears.
Indeed it is. Hope he does it.
Never thought I’d see it. Their well of musical genius is clearly unfathomed…
They played and recorded the whole 22 song concert for over five weeks and then the ABBATARS are taking over for the live shows with a 10 piece live band. Its going to be awesome . . .
Why the Avitars? We can accept them as older people, do they think that their ages make any difference? They are still ABBA…
She understood, as we both could feel the "Autumn Chill."
My funeral song.. Super Trouper. I want it up beat, and my last message to my friends and family is to not feel blue and to go on, "shining like the sun, smiling having fun".
Ode to freedom.....what a masterpiece 👏
The world has watied 4 years for this comeback, and I certainly hope they hang around longer than a 10 song album.
...ABBA group: so BEAUTIFUL... in every respect!...
This is surprisingly the first channel i really subscribed too, even after watching videos from over 15+ years. i guess i shared the emotion both as a huge fan of Abba since my early days of life probably from my mothers womb :) until date. Abba always kept me mesmerized with their music and this is such a dream come true to hear them again releasing albums in our days . Also it was a very good honest review from Vaughn coming straight out. it deserved me trying to take the effort to make my first subsribe:)
Benny's greatest influence is the wonderful Johann Sebastian Bach and you can hear it in the genius of his melodies and orchestrations. As for good or bad? It's ABBA! It's brilliant!
GREAT IDEA...CASE CLOSED!
Loved your vlog on ABBA comeback. At the young age of 13 I was totally hooked on them from their hit SOS, and been an avid fan ever since. I unexpectedly burst into tears of joy watching the new song video for "I Still Have Faith In You" . Wow, a 40 year wish come true with a full new album, VOYAGE.

About the tears; ABBA's songs have a habit of going straight to my heart without passing the brain. And the Swedish melancholy* plays a role too.
