I misjudged this lady. I said "who the hell is this chick? Gonna talk about something in MY lane, hu?" But EVERY SINGLE THING SHE SAID IN THIS VIDEO IS 100% ABSOLUTELY TRUE. I mean every detail. You try your best to bypass HR, at first. I was a Monitor Tech, first, then a Paramedic. Worked MICU Ambulance, CCU, and ER (Level 1 Trauma Center). What she's saying is the ONLY way to become a Monitor Tech. And this was in the 90's when I did all this so if you hear the exact same thing from two (maybe three?) generations, you can count on it.
Love your videos , I’m currently doing my ekg program online , I’m learning the rhythms little by little , and watching your videos gets me excited and help a lot with info that people who want to be tele techs want to hear . Thank you 🙏🏻 (:
Aww thanks ☺️ I'm happy they are helping. Best of luck with your program 💕

i got hired as a cardiac monitor tech easy from just having my medical assistant diploma and on the job experience for almost a yr with 12-lead EKG machine. it was easy to get hired lol, i get paid $16.75 an hr for night shift
OOooooooo! I remember fighting like hell to get a bathroom break! LOL
Good times, though.
I finished my EKG training last year I got my national license this year and I got a job as a telemetry tech a UT Southwestern Medical City Hospital
Congrats ❤️❤️❤️
This is my first time as a telemetry tech is it hard
Is it the same as an ekg technician certification program
Where did tou get your national license i need to take the course
@@dineley02 I got mine at UTA Arlington it was like a 3 month course and included to sit for NHA EKG tech exam to get certified I also used to work at UT southwestern a few years ago I was underpaid and went to a different company and made a lot more. It’s definitely a good job for a college student or even as a career. I’m a PA student now
Can you please tell us what’s on the ekg test at the hospital ? Please
I loved this video!!!
Thanks for watching ❤️
How many patients do you typically monitor each shift? Also, are monitor techs usually only full time or do they also offer PRN positions?
Yes this whole look you have in this video is gorgeous, I could barely concentrate on the content lol. Where’d you get the lip gloss? I love the bottles!
Thank you ❤️ I got the gloss from the link in bio. Check them out!!
Thank you
In 30mn I am going to have a zoom interview about monitor technician. Thank you so much from Iowa city
what did they ask in the interview?
Thank you so much for the good positive information
You are a blessing thank you
Thank you for watching ❤️
The pay mentioned by the questioner depends on the state, the pay here in Texas is higher.
Hello, you mentioned that most people get trained or hired internally from the same hospital or clinic. But I'm curious for that to happen, how long has that person have to have worked in that other role? For example: let's say a person worked at the front desk register for 2 months and then applied to a monitor tech job. Would the hospital consider this a conflict or would this person still get preference as an internal candidate?
I think if they were hired in a role for only two months, usually they may need the person to remain in that role. The manager in one position may not want to give up the newly hired person. You can look into cross training. There were some people that had a main position and cross trained to work in other positions when they were drowning. Maybe you can ask your manager. You don't know if you don't ask.
Hi beauties! Thanks for all your comments!! Love 💓 you!!! Be sure to get some glamorous glosses from deniserosecosmetics.com/ 💄👄
It seems when you fresh out of school it’s hard getting a foot in the door
Which certification is officially national recognized and lol you say it cold lol ❤️
I know this video was 4 years ago. Being a moniter tech, do you interact with a lot of patients?
I use to be a PCT and I did it for only 5 months. It was very mentally and physically draining for me. I use to work in a rehab unit and I couldn’t handle it.
I wanted to try this but idk if it will be stressful . I want to be able to find a hospital job that doesn’t really deal with direct patients. I don’t mind , but working bedside is not for the weak lol.
Lol it's very little to no patient contact. The most you'll do is change the Tele box... very rarely though! It's not bad at all. I liked it because I got a break from the floor 🤣 😆
So if you take the EKG certification outside of the hospital it will not get you hired as a monitor tech?
No, you definitely can get there job. I'm just use to seeing more people get that position in the job. However, if you have a cardiac background, you should apply and take the cardiac monitor exam.
Thank you !
i have a upcoming interview for a monitor tech coming up and this help answer some questions that i had thank you for making this video
Good luck on your interview ❤️❤️
